My fall outfit ideas for women over 60

fall outfit

Happy fall Tuesday!  Welcome to my fall outfit ideas for women over 60.

My fall outfit ideas have been diverse, because the weather has been up and down…warm to cold.

But, I am going to show you three my favorite fall outfit ideas today.

The Abilene women have inspired me in many different ways and have certainly been an influence.

I step up my casual fall outfits whenever I get the opportunity.

Moving was actually great for my wardrobe…I found pieces that I had not worn in a long time…and I slimmed the wardrobe down to what I truly love.

Thus I have had more fun styling fall outfits since I got here.

Several of you asked to see what I am wearing, so here we go…..

MY FALL OUTFIT IDEAS FOR WOMEN OVER 60: WHEN IT WAS COLD

fall outfit

I have been waiting to wear this Chico’s sweater blazer and the temps finally dropped.

I had several errands to run this day, so there were lots of reasons to put my best foot forward.

Oh, yes and that best foot was wearing the SAS SIMPLIFY SLIP ON LOAFER in the gold color called sandstone.  I love it when I want to look nice and do a lot of walking.

This camel sweater blazer is on sale at Chico’s in a few sizes.  They also sell the sweater blazer in other styles.

The Chico’s pin I am wearing is sold out…unless you find it in a store.  It is a fun pin.  They do have others at PINS AND BROOCHES.

I built this fall outfit idea around the blazer with this supporting cast:

TALBOT’S STRETCH CORDUROY WIDE LEG PANTS (the brown color appears to be sold out, but they have others)

DILLARD’S EILEEN FISHER SILK GEORGETTE CREPE SHIRT in redwood (love this color and wear this shirt often because I love the color…it does come in other colors)

Dillard’s Vince Camuto Scarf from a couple of years ago…you will find great scarves at Dillard’s.

My Patricia Nash handbag is also older…but Dillard’s Patricia Nash has great finds on and off sale.

MY FALL OUTFIT IDEAS FOR WOMEN OVER 60: WHEN IT WAS COOL

Both the scarf and the blazer in this outfit were purchased this year in the Talbots Red Door Sale.

I like this fall outfit with jeans! And I am actually wearing Chico’s HIGH RISE WIDE LEG JEANS in the darker wash.

Talbots does have several DOUBLE BREASTED BLAZERS, and SCARVES.

Currently, you can buy at Talbots for 40% off…plus they have daily specials all week.

For both Talbots and Chico’s, you will benefit from signing up for their email and staying on top of the rapid fire sales!

I still love this Frank & Eileen BELFAST, Sweatshirt Peacoat in Irish Chocolate.

I have worn it more than any jacket lately since it is a tad bit more casual.

I paired it with a Shana top I purchased at Addie’s Boutique.

With a beautiful brown, navy and black print, this blouse was a markdown treasure find.

The necklace is an old one from Soft Surroundings.

Of course, I love to stay active in my Easy Spirit sneakers…and a big EASY SPIRIT SALE is happening right now.

Remember you can add on top of the savings your code PAMELA20 for five more weeks…good until the end of the year.

MY FALL OUTFIT IDEAS FOR WOMEN OVER 60: ONE OF MY STOPS

fall outfit

One of my stops while out and about, was the James Avery store in Abilene.

I needed to get two ornaments engraved and of course meet the local staff.

Engraving turns an ornament into a keepsake!

The manager, Clara Ricco (L), was very kind and happy to know I now lived here.

Her sweet employee, Grace, helped me that day.

I am once again this Christmas adding to my granddaughter’s charm bracelet.

It pleases me has much she loves it and wear it often.

For Christmas, I selected the TINY TIARA CHARM…she is our princess after all.

She wears the smallest bracelet so I have to pick from the mini-charms.

I am also adding the MINI TULIP CHARM.

She also loves flowers.

James Avery has been a part of our family since I first placed a James Avery wedding band on Mr. B’s hand.

I am so glad to know the local staff.

I can also find JAMES AVERY AT DILLARDS.

When I go out shopping or running other errands, I try to dress my confident best in my fall outfits.

I want to tell the world that I polished, creative, approachable, current, and joyful with what I wear.

Those are my personal style messages.

I hope my fall outfit ideas for women over 60 have given you some ideas as well.

Let me know if you have any questions….and hopefully, I will see you tomorrow…until then…

STAY STRONG & KEEP SMILING!

  1. Isn’t it fun to finally be able to wear our fall things? It finally cooled off here in Fort Worth this week, but will bounce back to 81 on Wednesday, before a cooler Thanksgiving weekend. I love the polished elegance of your first outfit with the sweater blazer, and hope I can channel that same vibe in the one I just got from JJill. It looks like you are still able to wear many of the styles you loved in San Antonio, with a few new casual pieces added for flair. I’m so glad you mentioned pins in your details. I bought a gorgeous one from Macy’s earlier this year when you featured them, and I just realized it goes with the sweater blazer. In fact, that will probably be my Thanksgiving day outfit now – thanks for the inspiration! I’d love to know how you dress for the actual day if you’re cooking. Do you do all the kitchen prep in casual clothes and then change before guests arrive, or wear an apron over your good clothes? I hope your first Thanksgiving in this home brings you many good memories made with your daughter’s family.

  2. I always cook in casual and dress right before serving with my Fall apron on over it. I am not sure what I am wearing this year…will let you know!

  3. I really enjoyed today’s post. At the end, when you mentioned your adjectives, I went back and looked at your photos again. I noticed that each outfit speaks to your style. Last week I put an older single breasted Talbots knit blazer front and center in my closet. It is in the chestnut family and is a good color for me. I toy with donating it, but decided to start wearing it. I put a pin on it that I received years ago from a student. I also had changed out the single button with a vintage one. I had so many compliments that day. I am trying to wear my ‘ir-regulars’ more often with an updated spin. I noticed your two tone Patricia Nash bag. I have a similar three toned bag from Brahmin. I will fish that out today. Thank you for the inspiration. You look great in your outfits. I am happy you are enjoying your sweatshirt jacket. You look comfortable in and with all your clothes and that allows your five style adjectives to interact so well. Have a good day.

  4. Your pictures certainly show your expressed adjectives well. I usually dress as you have but often see someone I know who questions why I’m “ dressed up”. In today’s world and in my much smaller town than Abilene, rarely does anyone “dress up” anymore so guess I’m an exception. I even dressed up for my physical therapy appointment yesterday which truly put me in opposition to other patients. I recently ordered the JJill sweater blazer you showed us last week I think so I’ll be following your lead with my blazer and scarves…love my scarves!

  5. Thanks Deborah…I am so glad I inspired you to look at your wardrobe a different way. It has been fun to style items I have not worn in a while and mix them with the new. My adjectives keep me focused!

  6. Be the exception, Celia. You never know who is watching and inspired by you or what doors and new relationships will open. Life is too short to always dress down…dress for the day that has been gifted to you.

  7. You are looking so sharp, Pam. I run so warm, that I can’t seem to get heavier than a long sleeved top. I have some darling jackets I want to pill out. (scarves, too). The horse & horseshoe hardware on your handbag is a perfect TX “bling-y” touch. P.s. there are some pretty horseshoe brooches at free people.

  8. Comfort is important to me…navigating the weather has been a challenge…but when I dress for confidence, I most often feel comfortable. Thanks Paula!

  9. Your outfits are awesome. You look very elegant in each of them. I love the way you complemented the first two with scarfs. Thank you for the inspiration.

  10. All of your outfits are gorgeous! They suit you so well. Like Celia, our tiny town is extremely casual. If I wore a blazer anywhere, people would think I was a late tourist passing through. But I do have Chicos wide leg dark and medium wash jeans and love the comfort. I’m very short at 5’1” but still like the look. I’m surprised that I love them as much as I do! Enjoy your Thanksgiving prepping and looking forward to seeing your outfit for the day. We are expecting snow tonight and tomorrow and a cold sunny Thanksgiving Day.

  11. Thanks for sharing 3 wonderful outfits. And I agree that they all speak to your adjectives and you have accessorized these pieces so well. I have a similar camel sweater blazer, single breasted, that I hope to wear soon and you’ve given me some ideas for styling it. I have a brooch that I think will look good on it. Most days I only go out for yoga or Pilates and of course to walk the dogs. Even though I’m casual I take care to wear my best colors. Today even for house cleaning I chose cords and a sweater that make me happy. After reading about the charms for your granddaughter I dug out my charm bracelet that my grandmother started for me. Each charm has a memory attached to it. Happy Tuesday.

  12. I’m really glad to see you in the Chico’s sweater blazer. I have three of them. They are really nice, fit well, and, well, just my favorite!
    Happy thanksgiving everyone!

  13. If I saw you on the street & didn’t know you, I would say “There is a woman I would like to meet.” You look so polished & approachable. Years ago, I remember a woman saying that we need to remember that casual doesn’t mean sloppy. Your casual chic is just perfect.

  14. 3 questions:
    1. Do Abilene women wear western wear only during rodeo season?
    2. If no, where else do they wear western wear?
    3. Do you think you will ever wear some of the western wear items you have shown us?

  15. There are women that western style is their go-to style. They were it many places. I live where farms and ranches are all around. I wore western when I was younger to go out dancing and with friends. So, yes…there are women who enjoy the styles for more than rodeo.
I will say…never say never, but I have not worn western style in a long time. But you never know…I just might for the right occasion.
    I hope that helps.

  16. I love each of your outfits. They look very stylish but comfy. I love the addition of the scarves. I must add some to my wardrobe!
