Favorite Stops in Bucerias, Mexico

favorite stops

Happy fabulous Friday, everyone.  Today, I would like to share with you a few of my favorite stops in Bucerias, Mexico…a new favorite destination for me.

My few days in Bucerias were so enjoyable that I was able to identify favorite stops I would definitely return to if the opportunity came along.

All of my favorite stops were started by individuals (mostly women) who also stopped in Bucerias, but they decided to stay and make a life there years ago.

I hope you will enjoy meeting them and seeing through my images and notes why these are my favorite stops in Bucerias, Mexico.

So, let’s get started…..

MY FAVORITE STOPS IN BUCERIAS MEXICO:  JAN MARIE

favorite stops

Meet Jan Marie, a boutique owner in Buscerias for almost 40 years…running a wonderful business with the same name, JAN MARIE BOUTIQUE GALLERY.

I am so impressed with what she has done with her boutique.

It is a bright light at night in an area that is surrounded by dimly-lit buildings. She shines brightly on a corner.

Upon entering Jan Marie’s boutique, you feel as though you entered a wonderful art gallery.

The curation of products is brilliant and stands out from the other shops I visited nearby earlier in the day.

Our brother-in-law stops by to sit in her chairs …and someday I believe he will own one for his Colorado getaway.

favorite stops

In addition to fashion, Jan Marie sells wonderful pottery and home decor.

All of the work she sells represents Mexican artists and designers…unique to the country.

favorite stops

I love roosters for my kitchen area, so this plate came home with me.

It was a perfect addition to my collection.

Jan Marie explained the artist was one who created the “cracked” style on Mexican pottery.

I loved that her fashion pieces were also unique to Mexican creators.

I also brought home beautiful swim coverups for my daughter and me…I cannot wait to style mine for you.

And, yes, a necklace was in my souvenirs.

If you visit Puerto Vallarta anytime soon, a taxi ride to Bucerias and Jan Marie is a must stop.

MY FAVORITE STOPS IN BUCERIAS MEXICO:  SANDRINA’S

favorite stops

Across the street and down a block from the first boutique is an incredible experience called SANDRINA’S.

Everything…and I mean everything…about Sandrina’s cements a wonderful memory.

It is a feast for all five senses.

From the dinnerware, to the decorations, to the tables, to the amazing Mediterranean cuisine, to the excellent service…everything is memorable…in a good way.

All of these combined is what makes Sandrina’s one of my favorite stops.

And at the top of that list would be the food…the Mediterranean spices and cooking were exceptional.

Mr. B and I split a salmon dish that featured salmon, shrimp, a mashed potato, a roasted sweet potato, roasted zucchini, beets, and asparagus.

Each part of this dish was seasoned differently and it was a celebration of flavors…that I actually took notes on later in the room, so I can attempt to recreat it.

Each bite was so, so good and different from the other bites.

favorite stops

We also shared the Vanilla Ice Cream with fresh peaches and an amaretto/caramel sauce.

OK, I wanted to lick the bowl but maintained my decorum as not to be an ugly American!

This was so good with one of the best vanilla ice creams I have ever tasted.

I found a recipe I am going to try at Pretty Petunias…AMARETTO CARAMEL SAUCE.

I plan to make It for a family meal this summer.

favorite stops

This eatery and boutique were begun years ago by a couple who visited Bucerias and stayed.

Make reservations before you get to town...I have been told they are always packed.

MY FAVORITE STOPS IN BUCERIAS MEXICO:  KAREN’S PLACE

favorite spots

Karen’s Place in Bucerias is another of my favorite stops that is always packed…so make reservations.

It does come with a list of rules….

favorite stops

One of the ways you can follow these rules is to ask for a table in the the sand…then take off your sandals and feel the sand while eating.

Karen’s has been one of the favorites in Bucerias since 1998.

She visited and stayed.

favorite stops

Her menu is delicious…like the coconut shrimp here.

But, I love it most at sunset….

favorite stops

And for our last night in town, God put on a show.

favorite stops

We watched these two net fishing well into the night as we enjoyed the fun, the crowd and the food at Karen’s.

MY FAVORITE STOPS IN BUCERIAS MEXICO:  AND IF YOU LIKE FLEA MARKETS

favorite stops

If you like Mexican flea markets, there is a large one in Bucerias.

However, I am not a really big fan of this type of shopping there.

But, Jan Marie…she one that part of this journey.

I hope you have enjoyed visiting my favorite stops in Bucerias. Mexico with me.

I have one more post about what this trip really signified for me…and I will share it on Sunday.

AN IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT SATURDAY:

I want to do something to help my friends at Easy Spirit Shoes and their efforts to raise awareness and funds for women’s heart healthy.

The post I wrote for last Monday had link issues that were affected by the Internet in the resort where I was last week.

Once I returned to my desk, they were fixed and worked just fine.

So, tomorrow, I am going to re-post for those who had issues with the links.  I want to make sure that everyone has a chance to respond if you like.

Then the following week, we will return to 2025 Fashion Trends.

Thank you to all of those who wear and support Easy Spirit…it is one of my favorite sponsors for this blog.

Hopefully, I will see you tomorrow when once again I will have my red shoes on!

KEEP SMILING!!

  1. Just beautiful!! The pottery was amazing How did you ever just pick one pice? This makes me want to plan a trip. Looking forward to the next post about this wonderful place.

  2. It was difficult to pick one piece and I loved her beautiful colorful blown-glass glasses.

  3. I love going to the flea market in Mexico! I like that woven purse with the wooden handle and the leather bags etc
    Beautiful pics u took!
Rest and restore, glad u got a much needed break.

  4. Thank you again today for this tantalizing glimpse of beloved México. My big shopping weakness is textiles there, but also love browsing the pottery and glassware (which I was lucky enough to watch the glass blowing process behind a shop in San José del Cabo). I hope you will share your salmon and veggies recipe after you’ve figured out how to recreate it. I love Mexican sweet potatoes from the cart vendors. 😋

  5. Looks like a beautiful place. I have always liked the Mexican food and the colors of the plates, glasses and cups of the serving pieces

I tried to post yesterday but I’m having trouble with posting comments.

  6. The pottery is gorgeous! But that tile framed smaller mirror is sometime I would love as a pop of beautiful color in my neutral space. Our visit to Mexico many years ago was very memorable as my granddaughter got married. Destination weddings are more affordable. My son hired a luxury bus to take all of us from Vista, CA down to the resort and four days later, returned to his home. It was a wonderful trip with family and friends. My Spanish wasn’t good enough to be able to understand the rapid speech patterns but I loved the excellent food, the kindness of the people around us and the shopping. I’m so glad that you had such a great experience in Bucerias.
