Simply Visible Monday!
Ellen Tracy wool jacket: $5 at Goodwill Leopard Sweater: Ross Jana Kos Pencil Skirt |
Well, on this over-the-top, crazy attire, massive makeup Visible Halloween Monday, I find myself desiring to make a statement for simplicity.
The sweater from Ross is so soft and beautiful…but I do not know how to read the brand before the”by Cyrus part!” |
I think Da Vinci was on to something when he said,”Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.” It has taken me a long time to get to the point where I actually understand and agree with Leonardo. During my 40s when I was craving visibility, and was just tired from a very full life, my weak efforts would often be to over accessorize…sadly, sometimes along the lines of a Halloween costume. I remember one horrifying night when I tripped over an electrical chord in the gymnasium where I went to watch one son play basketball. My rather humongous necklace hit the floor with a cymbal-like sound and everyone turned to stare!! Long earrings and bracelets in shambles around a very large print jacket, I wanted to crawl under the bleachers and pretend that I was the hired pre-game entertainment. I am shaking my head and sweating a little just remembering the moment!! Fortunately, the memory does serve me well today….all I have to do is think about that moment and I start taking things off!
Fabulous are the statement pieces here worn simply with a watch and wedding ring. |
Whenever, I want to make a big statement about strength or confidence, I tend to take the simple route. After all Coco Chanel also said, “Simplicity is the keynote of all true elegance.”
Happy Monday everyone…now head on over to Not Dead Yet Style and visit the other fabulous women who participate in Visible Monday.

I read that one fashion guru (can't remember who) said to accesorize your outfit, and then take off one of the accessories. I struggle with going overboard with my accessories! It seems the older I get, the more I like bling! 🙂
You did NOT get that jacket at Goodwill! I obviously need to visit Goodwill more often…I never seem to find anything when I go there, but my visits are VERY sporadic.
Love your style…and your spirit!

I agree with Cindy – that jacket is so fab, you are a super-shopper! Wonderful lesson in your post today too, and it ties in with Mongs — we don't have to get all glittered up to look great. Simplicity is beautiful. Thanks so much for participating in Visible Monday, my friend.
Simply said, you look fabulous!!! Hugs
Very elegant in your jacket and of course, the leopard sweater. You glow!
Great post Pam, as always you share something inspiring!! xox Jodi
I'm totally agree. Elegant people are elegant even when the simplest outfit. Well, I don't really think elegance is about the clothing, it's all about the confidence & the attitude.
Pam, you look lovely in your outfit today. Visible and very classic.
Sorry about your fall, but you know that happens to us all. I once ran into the bottom of a garage door at an auction (someone was pulling it down & I did not know it) and everyone got up and looked, except my husband who had to be called over to take me to the ER. Talk about embarrassing!
"pretend that I was the hired pre-game entertainment." — this would have been awesome.
you are looking simple yet elegant!
love the peek of leopard under the blazer

Thanks so much for featuring me on you're "Who I met today"–what a cool idea!
I'm finding all these women-of-a-certain-age bloggers through you, and I'm loving it! Women our age used to graduate into polyester pants and garishly appliqued tops and say, "No need to fix my hair or wear make-up anymore. I'm old."
Well, I will not go gently into that frumpy night! My mom is 78 and beautiful…and her clothes, while age-appropriate, are classy and stylish. She and my gorgeous 61-year-old sister are my style and beauty icons!

I love that little bit of leopard print peeking out from under your jacket–very nice, but not too much:-)
I really enjoyed your post.
You look great. I like to dress very simply a lot of the time. I think your label is actually the signature of Cyrus…so Cyrus by Cyrus. At least that is what it looks like to me.
