Thanksgiving Decor: Touches of Nature Plus A Giveaway!
Wednesday it all begins…for two days I will be cooking, cooking, cooking….and I hope to share a new type of pumpkin pie recipe after I begin the process (just know, no-place-but-Texas for a pie like this).
My backyard is covered in these bushes and berries…I have tried to find the name of the bush..but only became confused! Anyway, I cut the autumn-colored branches and berry-clusters and place them up and down the table runner…they look beautiful on the table. One year I also tied a small amount with raffia to the napkins.
I also like to use broken antlers found on neighborhood walks, and turkey feathers from success my son had on one hunting trip.
Antlers are popular here for all types of centerpieces. I always get excited when I find them on the street…we have a lot of deer which hang out all around us. I just love nature and I think that is why I like this sterling silver necklace from Blue Nile Jewelry .
The first time I saw this necklace, I thought it would be such a special gift for a family member to commemorate a family tree addition! A new daughter-in-law…a new blended family…a new adopted daughter…welcome them to the family!
Well, if you would like to win one of these for yourself or a family member, then just leave a comment below! I will draw a winner on December 6! Any of you can receive a 10% discount at Blue Nile, with this code BNHH10!
Now, with a little bit of the great outdoors, decorating will be the easiest part…cleaning house and cooking…more involved. I hope all of you have a special, precious Thanksgiving! I am thankful for each and every one of you. I am also thankful for our first Thanksgiving with our grandson and our new in-laws.

I believe that is a Nandina Bush.
Several years ago my son asked me to help him find the perfect engagement ring. That's when I found Blue Nile. The branch: it breaks my heart.
Pam, your decor is lovely- I believe your bush is a nandina also known as heavenly bamboo. Happy Thanksgiving.
Happy Thanksgiving – stay blessed!
Great to hear about your new family members!
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, Pam!

I love this necklace! What a great idea to start a new tradition. I have one son getting married within the next year to a darling girl and this would make a fabulous Christmas 'welcome to our family' gift! Thanks for such a nice giveaway and Happy Thanksgiving 🙂
Thank you for sharing the fabulous necklace! Happy Thanksgiving!
I am always getting great ideas from you. The branch necklace as a gift to the newest family member is now one of them. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.
The bush is indeed nandina; I have several in my yard in Austin. I've heard that they're considered good luck by the Chinese (though don't know if that's true . . .but I like to think it is!).
Happy Thanksgiving. I enjoy your blog.
What a lovely necklace! !Amazing idea.Hope you had a great Thanksgiving with your family.

I stumbled on your blog today through a Facebook link. I'm so glad to find a blog for women my age instead of all the mommy blogs. =)

Love the decorations. Miss the TX weather! I'm your newest follower!
Love the necklace – two daughters in law – one with a new baby and one expecting! This would be lovely for either one or maybe both! I'll check into Blue Nile! Hope your holiday was lovely…
This is definitely a nandina bush. They're fun because they provide color year round. They grow like crazy and can be cut way back without too many problems. I love them for garden color and decoration.
