Fashion Over 50: Confidence in the Details
Discovering confidence with our over 50 fashion choices is often a really simple process. When I first began my makeover at age 50, I really tried to do too much…overdone would be the word which comes to mind. At that time I was watching What Not to Wear regularly and I think many mornings, Stacy and Clinton would have looked at me like this….
It took me awhile to learn LESS REALLY IS MORE….So, thirteen years later I find myself paying attention to the details, yet, keeping them simple.
A neutral outfit with simple details….my Sam Edleman leopard flats, my bronze, pearl necklace with the Alamo on it (very San Antonio style) and my bracelet from Soft Surroundings.
The Joan Vaas pants are an athleisure-wear design and have a simple detail on the leg. I love these pants…very comfortable, stylish, youthful, and cool. They work well with my flats. I could also easily introduce color into this outfit, but this morning I was feeling the bronze and gold details. In the past, I might have added a scarf to hang on the jacket or not been happy with a smaller necklace. But, lately, I have been content with the smaller details…as long as they bring confidence and send the messages I want to send. Back to Stacy and Clinton…they taught me personal style can be developed around this…
I think of these words often, but for me the messages are where I concentrate my thought. Am I sending my key five messages when I walk out the door. Often, I find them in the details.

I agree Pam, less is more and a few well-chosen details make the outfit. I love the stitching on the bag, adds a nice bit of subtle texture.
Yes, less is often more! I think your outfit has great details, and you look fabulous.
I'm wearing a simple black and white outfit today with a black and white scarf and interesting shoes. Yesterday I wore another black and white outfit with turquoise jewelry, but I honestly like today's simpler look better.
Just stumbled upon your post and look forward to reading more.

It is great we have options to do both, and I am like you more and more I prefer the simpler look. I don't see me walking away from my statement necklaces though! Thanks Andrea…
Thank you, Polly. So glad to have you here!

Thanks…I really like these pants…so comfortable and fun!
