Goodwill: It’s Heating Up, Part I
All of the beautiful cool weather is over for us in South Texas! The sun is blazing….the drought continues…and today it was in the 90s…and that is really where we spend most of our time.
Here are the challenges of warm weather fashion:
1. We have it for a long time…at least through October.
2. The heat can often make it necessary to wear more than one outfit a day and need to clean clothing more often.
3. Clothing must be lightweight and breathe.
GOODWILLSA meets all of these challenges by giving women affordable options to keep wardrobes refreshed and fun.
I came away from Goodwill shopping at our newest Bulverde Road location off of Highway 1604 with a couple of legitimate, matchy/matchy outfits! I decided I could get much leverage out of them and, of course, I will not wear either outfit in a full match as hung together.
The first is a three piece outfit with beautiful detailing and soft colors. I really like the jacket….
And it came with…
And with ….
You cannot really see it in the picture, but the tank top has some wonderful seams on the bust line giving it a nice fit. I will wear it under a white cardigan or with white jeans. I am not really a long skirt fan, but I might try to still wear it with a denim top and sandals. Any ideas for the skirt, ladies??
All three pieces were $20…I had to take the whole outfit. But I would have paid more for this jacket…I really like it and it is a cool option for teaching summer school.
I have another outfit I will share with you on Friday, which is the same concept of breaking up something meant to go together to create more modern styles.
GOODWILL can be my best friend this time of year! Cool and fashionable! And a best friend to our communities as well!
Great find, I will be donating and shopping @GW Boutique on Saturday!
Hitch the skirt over the bust to shorten. Layer the tunic over top and belt it. An idea!
Good finds! I remember "matchy, matchy"… it was the 60's and then it was the 90's I loved it. Enjoy your beautiful weather. We could use about 10 of your degrees here.

This jacket is a real find! Love it with the blue and your jeans.
blue hue wonderland
I think the skirt with denim is a great idea. Since it appears to have an elastic waist, and since you don't do longer skirts, is there some way to have the top of the skirt chopped, so to speak, and install another elastic waist to shorten the skirt without sacrificing the cool floral pattern on the bottom? I love the idea of pairing that skirt with a denim top though. Very cool pieces, great buy! (I am another one who would love to have some of your degrees of temperature out my way!) Karen
Love the artsy style of the jacket. It looks even more stylish mixed with your selections.
I LOVE Goodwill! I find some of my best pieces there. You scored big time on that jacket! As far as the skirt goes, I would either shorten it or lengthen it to make a maxi. Or you could even use the bottom of it and add it to the bottom of a shortened t shirt to make a bohemian look empire waist shirt. Oh my gosh, so many possibilities…… What ever you choose to do with it, you will look great!

Great finds! I love the idea of repurposing too! I am always finding something at my Goodwill. I just wish I had time to go to more thrift shops!
I need to go to Goodwill wo my kids so I can focus and try and find some good finds.. i am good with finding toy finds but i have a problem finding clothes because they are so many and I can't concentrate because of my kids..
What a great find! And mixing and matching is always a bonus.
That jacket. Swoon!
I love the jacket! Perfect with jean! I sometimes find suits at estate sales, but the jacket is what I go for. The skirts usually end up lonely in the closet!
I'm volunteering at our local thrift shop this afternoon. Wouldn't I love to find something as fabulous as that jacket!
you always have the best luck
i can only find 80's and 90's clothing at our Goodwill
Love the lace bottom cardi

Our nearest Goodwill store—in Somerville, Massachusetts, has superb buys. I haven't purchased anything there yet because the store is gigantic and I've been too overwhelmed to function in ti. I've decided to go back with a list. You know, "brown slacks, yellow sleeveless tops," etc. That will keep me on track and prevent my wandering around in a daze!
Great post from you. I'm inspired!
I love a long skirt myself. I'd match it with a tee that picks up one of the colors in the bottom panel. Easy summer outfit!
That IS a cool jacket! I'm interested in seeing how the skirt the skirt looks on you…
Hi Pam
I love lace and I love florals. Your jacket is very pretty, love the color of the flowers, looks nice on you!

The lace jacket is fab – so much nicer with jeans than as a three-piece!
I might donate the skirt back. The top is a basic…I am sure you will wear it often. LOVE the jacket!
How perfect! I went to Goodwill yesterday but didn't look at the clothes…may have to go back soon tho…I did find 2 sweet American Fostoria bowls, a hand painted Nippon/japan bowl with lid, and another hand painted creamer and a silver metal easter basket all for 12 dollars!
I love your blog, is really great and I love the style.
Pam … I agree with you, that jacket was worth the price!!!!!!!!!!! pippa
