Jenny Craig: Something I Do For Me!

My journey with JENNY CRAIG is not just about weight loss…it is about changing years of bad habits and developing a healthy lifestyle which will be with me until the end!

A reader recently asked me how I do the diet and provide meals for my husband.  I actually live with my husband and youngest son who is in college, so there are three.

My answer is….I have hung up the aprons!
Perhaps that seems a bit harsh, but please understand, I have walked this walk for years.  I wish I had money for all of the diets I have begun and quit.

I quit because I kept cooking and for me cooking has been how I showed love to my family.  It also is something I love, so I tweak…and taste…and season…and taste…and make certain it is perfect in every way.

I failed so often and it usually happened during excuses made to serve the family, so this time I told the two men in my life…YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN.  Since June, I think I have cooked maybe three times and I was feeling sorry for them.  But, you know, they are adults and they have survived.  Also, they go out to eat together more often and I really believe it has brought father and son closer.

I need for it to be this way for now.  Since I was sick, I have stalled a bit….but I will persevere. For health reasons, I must lose more weight.  It is my time…now or never!  So, these two guys are fine on their own until I feel like I have reached my goals…a healthy weight and changed habits for good.

Yes, I am going to cook holiday meals…but my goal is to be down by a total of 25 pounds when Thanksgiving gets here….okay, I put it on the record…now we will see if I do it!  Please ask questions when you have them…it helps me know what you are processing about these posts!  And thanks for hanging in there with me JENNY CRAIG.

Now, in honor of Halloween, I bring you a resident of my backyard…have a fun and safe evening everyone!

*I was provided a free trial program, and free Jenny’s Cuisine® items. Currently, I purchase their food at a special rate.   However, the opinions and writing are entirely my own.
Members following the Jenny Craig program, on average, lose 1-2 lbs per week

  1. That spider – that is enough Halloween horror me me!!! Thank you for letting us know how you manage to stay on this plan while living with others. I have a passion for cooking (it's like a hobby) and enjoy every bit of the process. I try to just do the smaller portions and lower fats and that sort of thing, but I can see the logic to how you do it. There are usually two or three days a week where I grab a can of Progresso soup and say, "the fridge is full of leftovers, help yourself!" and feel very good about cutting way back on calories every couple days. Still, I'm realistic about the holidays coming and will just try to step up the exercise. You are doing great on your eating plan and have been a real inspiration for me. I appreciate you answering this question because I really wondered how that is done! Good for your husband and son supporting you in this and having that time together. Sounds like everyone is winning! Karen

  2. I could not agree with you more when you say cooking is how you show your family love! 25 pounds is quite a goal and I applaud you for putting it out there for everyone! I really, really appreciate all of your weight loss posts, I need to do this and like you said "now or never!". pippa

  3. Yikes, is that spider as big as it looks here?!? Good for you for doing what you need to do to take care of yourself! Because our family is all on different schedules during the week, I almost never cook dinners anymore. I do make lunches for us all to take to school and work, but that's pretty much it.

  4. What an incredible resolution and you WILL make it. Congrats in advance. My German heritage is so much about eating more than you need or even want. It is hard to break away! Thanks for the encouragement.

  5. How is everything going with Jenny Craig? As a health and nutrition coach, I love to hear what works, why, and perhaps what might need changing for the individual as each person is different and so is how their body responds.

  6. Keep at it!! It is hard if cooking and eating together is love and entertainment. I lost weight over a holiday season by keeping to my commitment to not eat anything not on my daily list of foods. It was only one season but it helped to reset food choices. I applaud your joining a group to help with this journey. Love your blog
