Hit Your Style Sweet Spot: What Women 50+ Wear to a Family Reunion
Welcome to a fun collaboration with Jennifer of A Well Styled Life and Pam of over50feeling40. We desire for all of us… the fabulous women over 50 …to look and feel our best each and every day. After years of blogging for this audience, we have heard from so many of you about your discouragement and despondency when you look in the mirror every morning. But, we both know just how transformative style can be, and hope to encourage you right here each week. We want to see all of us empowered with strength, joy, and confidence.
It’s time to step into new territory for me…we have not had a full blown family union other than just immediate family. But, you asked and Jennifer and I listen…so here is how we would approach our selection as Women 50+ for this event. I suspect most family reunions are on the relaxed, casual side.
So, I would look at something along these lines. When I am around the young women in my family, I always want to set a confident, healthy example…something they might aspire to one day. I was keenly aware as a teacher of how my choices might communicate to the high school girls I taught for 16 years, and at a family event I would be thinking about the same.
I really want my complexion and smile to glow at such an event. Though it is casual, I want to wear an outfit which puts a confident smile on my face.
Recently, a new friend reminded me of a store I have not shopped in years, Palais Royal. They are not everywhere, but I was able to visit one in the Pearland, TX area.
I walked away with some pieces I have actually been in search of offered by top brands…like this CALVIN KLEIN Blush Pink shirt. I have looked for a functional blouse in this color which works for casual and professional wear. The utility vest is a brand called DEMOCRACY and I know I will wear it often…it has a cute bronze stud detail in the back. Though I don’t wear scarves in the summer, I threw this one on to show how a great print would really make a simple look like this more fun. I also picked up the comfortable and stylish leather BARETRAPS sandals there and since it was a BOGO promotion…I got another pair of fun black, bling sandals YELLOW BOX. This was a successful shopping trip…so glad I was coerced to return.
My takeaway for family reunions is to dress confident and remember the younger ladies are watching you!
Now let’s go see what JENNIFER OF A WELL STYLED LIFE is wearing for her reunion!

Pam, I love this look on you. It is so bright and youthful and with your hair tied back it opens up your pretty face.
Aren't they fun? I am crazy for them too and since comfort is huge for me…I found them to be super comfortable!
Thanks so much…my hair would have been too much with a scarf like this! I like to pull it back occasionally…your kind words are much appreciated.
I need those sandals!! I love this fun look on you and think having your hair pulled back is so pretty. You look youthful and modern…very chic!
Family reunion? How do I find an outfit that says, "ain't happening"? But that's just me. ?
Well thank you, friend! Maybe I need to pull it back more often! The sandals are great! I loved the top you were wearing today!
You may have noticed I wrote that it ain't happening for me either…but this is how I would approach it! Thanks for stopping by so faithfully!
Love the shoes and that vest! Very cute outfit! I have a huge family but we don't all get together very often. I have a large immediate family that does get together frequently. Loud and lots of fun! LOL!
Sounds fun! Thanks so much for the kind words and stopping by1
Fabulous casual look, Pam! As you probably know, I love scarves and yours is so pretty!
Lovely scarf and utility jacket Pam. I agree confidence is the best thing to have going. We used to have family reunions and most often it was casual.
Thanks for linking up with Turning heads tuesday
