May’s Monthly Style Tip for Women Over 50
Can you believe it is already May? Already, time for our style tip for women over 50! Well, this is a big month at our house. My youngest son’s birthday is May 1, he graduates from college a few days later, and hopefully soon will enter the professional world. We are very close to becoming legitimate empty- nesters!
My style tip this month is inspired by this tunic I recently found at Chicos. My eyes went to it immediately when I saw my favorite color on the rack…olive green has always been one of my best and really pops my hazel eyes. But, it was what I discovered as I pulled out the garment which has led to this style tip: IN ORDER TO GET THE MOST FLATTERING FIT, PAY ATTENTION TO THE DETAILS. This is not a typical long boxy tunic which often are not that flattering. Here is what the sides look like:
This long zipper goes up and down both sides and gives the most flattering fit I have seen in a tunic in a long time. I actually said WOA…when I saw it in the mirror. Zippers on the sides and seaming in key places can really work magic and do wonders for your body image. If you are curvy, like me, you look for those details. Always take the time to try a garment like this on when you notice it has some carefully placed detailing in it.
I also love these sleeves! A nice, little sexy detail. And with our humidity, it is a type of air conditioning!!
I am wearing the tunic with my JJill
Leggings and ROCKPORT TOTAL MOTION nude flats. The purse is from Elaine Turner about three years ago. Her raffia handbags are great for summer style.
Below, you will find the tunic, JJill leggings, and Elaine Turner purses. But, take this away with you for May…look for these details…zippers, seams, carefully placed pockets for a great fit! In fact, come back here in a couple of days and I will show you another top which has details that does the same! Have you seen tops like this with zippers on both sides?
Just catching up, it's been one of those weeks! I think this tunic top is very flattering, and I love the tie sleeves! I am also drawn to olive green, and like the details of this top. My mom had always steered me away from olive and brown growing up (told me I'm not in the army) and I still hear her when I wear these colors now, but I do wear them and enjoy them! Love JJill anything, and will be picking up some cropped leggings when my sister and I go on our annual shopping trip in a couple weeks. Great outfit Pam!
I love the top! My son's birthday is May 1 too! Great day to be born
I suppose this is a controversial color…some love and some hate. But it is one of my favorites…I also love to wear it with white. I was so happy when I saw it in the spring color line. Have fun shopping with your sister and thanks for stopping by!
Happy Birthday to your son Maggie! It is a great day to be born! Thanks for stopping by!
I am one of those women who love wearing olive green. I suspect that, like you, it's because of my brown hair and hazel eyes. That's a great outfit on you, Pam! And, I have to comment on how terrific your hair looks!! Congrats on your news from FeedSpot!!
Thanks so much, Beth! Olive does wonders for hazel eyes, doesn't it? I have had the same stylist for many years, so I have to give a shout out to Esther for my hair!
I love Olive green, but it seldom loves me and my cool coloring. This looks
great on you! I love when designers take the time to add distinctive details that make things more flattering for us!!
When I saw the zippers on the tunic, I knew I had to try it on. I so appreciate these details as well! Thanks Jennifer!
I love this outfit on you!
I love olive green as well. Looks lovely with your dark hair, Pam. I really like those nude flats too. Great with white pants or jeans.
Thank you Ana!
Thank you, Susan! I am really into these nude flats right now…they are super comfy and really take a casual look up a notch! Thanks for stopping by!
