Fashion Over 50 Work Attire: Solid Color on Solid Color

Work attire is always more of a challenge to me in my over 50 career and during the summer heat.  I do not know why I haven’t done this before, but I really have not worn similar solids together at the same time.

I usually wear white or a print under this Peter Nygard jacket, but when I found a Joan Vaas orange summer sweater I decided to give color on color a try.  And I like it!  Also…don’t you just love pockets on a jacket like this!

I have layered two necklaces here to top off the orange, and I wore this with my white pants and nude ROCKPORT TOTAL MOTION COLLECTION. 

It is currently one of my favorite summer professional styles.  I am not sure why I have not done this before.

How about you?  Do you ever were color on color at the top?

  1. I do wear color on color. As a classic dresser, I find it brings a modern twist to a look. I love orange and your jacket and sweater are so pretty! About those pants, do they zip on the side or in front? I'm currently trying to switch to side zip and have only found them at Talbots and Macy's. I like how side zip eliminates the bulk in the waistbsnd. Great look today though! I love the vibrant colors and the necklace is very artsy!

    These zip in the front and have a wide waist band. I really like this Chicos Slimming pant a lot…they do have many versions of it though.

  4. I love your orange on orange! You are right on time with it-it was all over the runways this spring. The turquoise jewelry sets it off. this caught my eye as I was looking through the links. Looks great.

  9. It's so funny you're writing about this because I just noticed over the weekend as I pack for a work trip how I've gone from Carla always wearing all black 🙂 to Carla black on bottom bright jewel tones on top!
