Fashion Over 50: First Friday Style Tip for August
Happy First Friday and welcome to my First Friday Style Tip for women over 50. This month I am joined by my friend and super stylish blogger, Jennifer Connolly of A WELL STYLED LIFE.
So, here we are in August..my least favorite month of the year. By the time a South Texas resident gets to August, we are hot and tired and ready for a new season, which really will not show itself for another 8 weeks! So, my style tip for the month is to think of ways you can blend a little of fall with a little bit of summer…since August is the cusp. I decided to blend my white summer pants with leopard which I always wear more in cooler months. Sometimes I forget how great darker colors look with white pants.
If you are longing for fall, as I am, place a little fall on top of your white pants or skirts and blend the two worlds. I also love a deep purple, emerald green, slate gray or royal blue with white pants rather than pastels. AND, with all the sales going on, it is also a great time to get a pair of white pants if you do not have them…I know some women wear them all year long, but I mostly select them for spring and summer. No, I do not follow old “wearing white rules!”
How do you feel about August…are you a fan? What do you like to wear this month? Tell us and then go over to JENNIFER’S PAGE and see what her tip is for the month.
I love August! But I live in Ohio, so… I am a summer girl through and through and the hotter the better! I love what you have styled here Pam! What a great look! I like how you used shoes that more closely match the leopard top rather than the more obvious black or white. I also love white with jewel tones, and that's a great way to have some fall-type color in the warmer months. I'm just not ready to give up the summer dresses yet! We have pretty ugly weather 7 – 8 months out of the year, so I have to enjoy this while I can! When it's time to transition, I really do like your idea of bringing out the jewel tones! This is just a fabulous look that you show here!
Thanks so much, Karen. My husband called from a trip he is on in New Mexico and the day temps were in the 60s. The only times I want to leave Texas is in the summer. Thanks so much for your comments!
What a fabulous tip Pam! It's so blasted hot here, I am melting. I love that leopard on you. You wear it better than anyone I know!!
I really do know how you feel! Melting is always our best word for this time of year. Thank you though…that is such a sweet comment.
