Christmas week in comfort-wear with French comfort food
It is that final push toward Christmas and a week which finds me in comfort-wear and eating French comfort food.
As if on cue, a cold front blew in this weekend taking my red and gold leaves from the trees to the ground and leaving bare limbs behind.
Winter has officially arrived.
A FAVORITE PIECE FOR COMFORT WEAR
A favorite piece of mine this year has been the Chico’s Bateau-Neck Sweaters with the rounded bottoms. Wearing them with my knit kimono-style topper has been so comforting and warm.
I purchased the Ombre Bateau-Neck Sweater in Magenta for a more elegant style.
And, the Textured Animal Print Bateau-Neck Sweater for fun! I also like this one with jeans.
I am also wearing my rose gold Vionic Ballet Flats I bought on sale at Dillard’s last summer in the top picture.
Go to DILLARD’S and search “Vionic ballet flats” and you will find some beauties on sale now!
The second picture are Clark Ballet Flats at Macys, also on sale now.
COMFORT FROM FRANCE
Leigh Ann decided to do a little French cooking, and brought me this Classic French Spiced Bread (Pain d’Épices)…known to be a favorite this time of year in France.
She discovered the recipe for the spiced bread here, and was able to round up the ingredients, though, surprisingly, the toughest to locate was the dark rye flour.
We know it can be ordered online, but she wanted to cook the bread that day.
The aroma is holiday-wonderful, and it is perfect with a cup of Christmas tea! This would also be a lovely gift!
Thanks to Leigh Ann for sharing…it is delicious!
WHAT AM I UP TO?
Well, I have been gift wrapping for hours…so my back is hurting! Yes, there are gift bags with my favorite word on them…JOY!
Remember, I told you my adult children sent some of their gifts for me to wrap for them!
Tomorrow, I will have more from my holiday kitchen…so much to be done and so little time.
Thank you for being here on this first day of winter. Have you heard about the great conjunction and how a Christmas Star will appear tonight? Read the space facts HERE…God’s way of shining hope on our planet in this difficult year.

Ah, pain d’épices, what a nice idea. We do not not find it so easily in French bakeries, these days. You may want to try it with some (not salted, but real) butter, I personally find the mixture even more delicious – yes, I know, butter on top of this, it is no more comfort, it is lavish indulgence, but… 🙂 Have a nice Christmas week !
I will confess…I ate it with butter and it was fabulous! Thanks Catherine…enjoy your week also!
Love the gold shoes, your collection of necklaces is fabulous and that light fixture is wonderful! (My taste runs the gamit!) Hope you and yours have a wonderful Christmas. Wonderful comes in so many different ways, especially this year!
I completely agree,Susan…”wonderful” can surprise us at times and I did see it often this past year. I wish you a blessed Christmas!
My favorite outfit on you, Pamela, is the one in magenta…great look!
I would enjoy seeing the planets line up. That was such an interesting article. We miss a lot of celestial experiences due to overcast conditions in the winter. It’s been dark and dreary for the longest time…. I don’t remember the last time I saw the sun. A nice slice of tasty bread slathered with butter sounds like a wonderful treat! I’ve been doing a lot of baking for Christmas and doing some sampling of the finished products! Tis the season!! I like your outfits shown here. It’s a good way to take some basic pieces and come up with completely different looks! I appreciate the inspiration!

Thank you, Karen. I just heard that we are likely to be overcast this evening, but that it should be able to see it on Christmas Eve with clear skies…that would be meaningful. I hope you get to at least see the sun soon.
