Comfy holiday preparations wear + a recipe

comfy wear

Happy Tuesday, friends!  Today, I am sharing my comfy, holiday, preparation wear as I work hard to get ready for the weekend plus a recipe!

My comfy wear always includes my favorite Santa Hat.

I was gifted this hat when I was teaching high school journalism and it is still my favorite.  I wear it often during this week.

Comfort is so important when I am spending time bent over to wrap gifts or cooking.

So, with comfy wear in mind, let’s dive into a few more thoughts on my preparations for the week.

COMFY HOLIDAY PREPARATION WEAR – THE CLOTHES

comfy wear

My comfy wear is styled to be a bit whimsical with the colors.

I am wearing the St. John’s Bay V Neck tee which comes in 18 colors.

I know several of you have also purchased these through my links and I still think it is such a great buy.

I am glad I picked up several different colors and I wear them often…cannot beat the cost and the quality for this comfy wear.

The long red vest is old.   But it is also very comfy wear and I like that it has pockets…when I am in preparations mode, I can always use pockets.

It has become larger…but I am not complaining about that!

The pants are my favorite Chico’s denim pull on jeggings….you know I wear these often.

The shoes have been in my wardrobe for some time and I liked that they popped a touch of fun to this comfy wear.

COMFY HOLIDAY PREPARATION WEAR FOR COOKING

As I begin to cook, I will remove the vest and reach for one of my Christmas aprons…love the three that I own.

Since I collect snowmen, I was gifted an apron with a snowman…it is lots of fun for me.

I plan today, to be working on this dessert sent over from Leigh Ann.

She prepared it last week for a holiday dinner and it was a hit.

She adapted this recipe for a Cherry Cheesecake Gingerbread Trifle into individual servings.

For the gingerbread, she used the boxed cake from Krusteaz, and cut it into cubes.

Since she shared it with me, I have wanted to make it.

COMFY HOLIDAY PREPARATION WEAR FOR PREPARATIONS

I noticed in Leigh Ann’s pictures that she was already using her Christmas dishes.

Something I am doing today in my comfy wear is to take mine out of my china cabinet.

These are not fine china….but I love to use them just to make the meals special.

This was last year’s table setting.

We have a big family, but this is the one time I do not pull out paper plates.

I want it to be a special meal and I believe nice dishes, no matter what you paid for them, say that.

My little Christmas wine glasses were actually thrifted at Goodwill San Antonio.

Christmas dinnerware is something good to purchase on clearance after Christmas and put away to use the next year.

So, this is why I am adorned today in comfy wear…so much still to be done…but I guess you can tell that I love it all.

LEAVING YOU TODAY WITH A SMILE

Christmas preparations

My granddaughter went to a “spa” party last week for her friends…kind of wish I was there!

This picture just makes me smile.

  1. The picture of the little girls having a spa party does make you smile…so cute. And the dessert trifle in individual cups gives me such a great suggestion of an easy dessert to make for a monthly ladies group. I hope that you get all your preparations done in a timely fashion. I need to get very busy myself.

  2. It is fun to see you revving up! Comfy clothes are a must! Today is grocery store day. Making my list and ordering a filet for Christmas Eve. I am making Beef Wellington, our tradition. My daughter is taking care of Christmas breakfast (visiting here) and one of my boys and his wife is having us at their house for Christmas dinner. Splitting the meals again this year. I love it! Beautiful (last year’s) table. Enjoy the preparation. Leigh Ann’s dessert looks yummy. It inspired me to make my mom’s gingerbread.

  3. I am so impressed you make Beef Wellington, Deborah! I have never tackled it but may look into recipes for something new to attempt next year! Thanks for sharing your tradition!

  4. You look adorable in your gifted Santa hat from your days teaching!
I’m baking too- off and on yesterday and I will resume today to wrap things up except my pumpkin crisp, which was on the dessert table Thanksgiving Day at my daughters home . It disappeared before I could say “dessert”! I’ll bake that Saturday morning.
Well I don’t look as cute as you do but I’m working hard currently on my moms old recipe fir Snickerdoodles.

  5. I bet your kitchen smells amazing, Paulette!! I would love to know more about Pumpkin Crisp! Have fun cooking!

  6. We may have a big storm coming, but as usual in Ohio, we forge ahead :). My Christmas plans are coming along, but now I have a lot of places to go. I had hoped to shampoo my carpet, but general cleaning was all I could manage. And it’s all right! I have your top … I was one who shopped your link, and bought 9 of those tees. They are amazing for lounging at home, but especially for travel. They breathe, they wash up, they look nice enough alone with a scarf, they layer, and if needed, you can even wear them as a pajama top. Enjoy your preparations. You look like you’re in your element.

  7. Thanks for sharing about the tops, Linda. Like you, I am so glad I own them in several colors. Have fun cooking and stay warm and cozy up there!

  8. You look cute and busy but as organized as usual. The dessert caught my eye and I hurried over to Lemontreedwelling. It’s a favorite recipe blog of mine. The recipe is similar to what we are having for Christmas dessert except it’s layered with toffee crunch bits instead of cherries. While you are there, look at Mexican coleslaw. It’s a standard at our house and would go well with your favorite San Antonio foods.

  9. The individual desserts great for easy serving. Your table setting is beautiful. Merry Christmas.

  10. Oh, goodness! Gingerbread, cheesecake and cherries – yes, PLEASE! Makes me want to break into song, 🎶 “these are a few of my FAvorite things!”🎶❤️❤️ We all sound quite busy here around your blog. Wish there was a way to pop in everywhere, for Snickerdoodles and family recipes, meeting in person all the sweet ladies who gather each morning to read your blog. I often pop back in later in the day just to make sure I can read everyone’s comments, and yours back. So, anyway, Merry Christmas to everyone here, Pam’s community of lovely, sweet ladies near and far!

  11. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could all meet! Love having everyone here! Thanks Connie! I watched Sound of Music on Sunday so I am singing with you!

  12. That spa picture is priceless!! Love the Santa hat and I am making that trifle for Christmas; thanks for the idea!
    Happy Holidays to all!

  13. Ooh – got to try that trifle recipe! You can’t go wrong with gingerbread, cream cheese, and cherries! Thanks so much! You look SO cute in your Santa hat!

  14. Pamela – I went with snowmen on my dishes. I get them out shortly after Thanksgiving and put them away about the end of Feb. They are fancy for Christmas but can be enjoyed all winter long. They really help on those dreary January days. Merry Christmas. God bless you in the new year.

  15. Since I have a snowman collection and adore them, I already love your dishes!! Great idea to use until Feb. stay warm, Marin!
