2024 Fashion Trends: Cropped Jackets
Happy Saturday, all! Saturdays have become trend days…so let’s look at the next 2024 Fashion Trends: Cropped Jackets.
I saw cropped jackets appear in the 2024 fashion trends close to the beginning of the year and full on in spring.
After my recent visit to the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (post on Monday), the confirmation came that cropped jackets remain in the 2024 fashion trends for fall.
If you want to add this trend and update your jackets, then continue on…I have several ideas.
Let’s get comfy and discuss 2024 Fashion Trends: Cropped Jackets.
2024 FASHION TRENDS: CROPPED JACKETS: NORDSTROM
My Nordstrom stylist, Sydney, confirmed the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is full of cropped jackets because they are on trend.
This VINCE COTTON BLEND CHORE JACKET is incredible…buttery soft. If it was in a warmer color, I would want it and consider it worth the price….even on sale.
If you love white, this is worth consideration. A gorgeous cropped jacket.
Since cropped jackets are in the 2024 fashion trends, I did see them in summer displays and had not thought of wearing one over a summer dress…like we see here.
But, that is a cute idea.
It was a Talbot’s stylist that pushed me out of my comfort zone to wear more cropped jackets…and I am glad I have added a few to my wardrobe.
My intention was to update my current style and I am gradually getting more comfortable wearing them.
There are some very nice cropped jackets at favorite retailers currently…at all price points…on sale and regular price because these are in the 2024 fashion trends.
Some to wear now and some to wear easily into fall.
Sadly, my slideshow widget is not working…I have been working on it for days and still have no answers as to why…technology can frustrate me so, but here is what I have for you…as well as specifics below:
CROPPED JACKETS in NORDSTROM ANNIVERSARY SALE…really nice ones here.
CUTE CROP UTILITY JACKET IN FOUR GOOD COLORS AT OLD NAVY. (autumns look at this great color called sly fox)
BELLA COTTON-LINEN BOMBER JACKET AT BANANA REPUBLIC
CROPPED TRENCH COAT AT BANANA REPUBLIC FACTORY
HERRINGBONE CROPPED JACKET AT BANANA REPUBLIC FACTORY
PURE JILL LINEN CROPPED JACKET
2024 FASHION TRENDS: CROPPED JACKETS I LIKE ON SALE
The reason I did not purchase this cropped jacket before still exists…I just live in a really warm climate…even during fall and winter.
It is a super cute jacket.
This is the BERKSHIRE WOOL BLEND CROP JACKET in the dark clementine color…and it looks great with the WIDE LEG TROUSER JEAN.
Would look great with the FRUITS & LEAVES OBLONG SCARF….also on sale.
I am wearing here the outfit the Talbots stylist put together for me and I did like it.
This would be a wear now jacket, but it on sale.
The CROPPED LINEN JACKET comes in two colors and is in the Red Door Sale at 40% off in your shopping bag.
As I have said, I am warming up more and more to wearing the cropped jackets.
I am looking forward to wearing this faux leather jacket more in the next round of cooler weather.
I really like …and like the balloon sleeves a lot.
Chico’s will be marking down some pieces even more going forward, but this BALLOON SLEEVE FAUX LEATHER CROPPED JACKET is a great price right now.
This is a size three and when I shot this picture, I unbuttoned the jacket to show a little of the Chico’s sweater underneath.
I have had my eye on this cute CROPPED QUILTED JACKET….also a very good price in a classic navy.
I find cropped jackets on me to be the most flattering when I style a column of color like you see here.
For many, wearing a cute cropped jacket is a fun, easy way to be current and on trend.
And because it is in the 2024 fashion trends, you will see more as fall hits the racks.
Before, I go, remember the savings on this amazing lip cream I use daily…..
The BY BRIAN REGENERATIVE SKINCARE summer weekly special, and I completely understand why this one is a best seller.
Te RE-CREATION LIP TREATMENT is amazing. I love how smooth it makes my lips…how diminished the lines around my lips are…and how it helps the lipstick stay longer and look better.
This is a treatment worth including in your daily skincare.
Now, this week through Sunday, you can get it for 25% off with the savings code: smoothlips.
And remember…Brian is available to meet with you online through his MASTER CLASS OR ONE-on-ONE VIDEO MEETINGS.
Thank you for joining me for 2024 Fashion Trends: Cropped Jackets….are you in or out on this trend…please share…and hopefully join me tomorrow for Summer Sundays in Texas…until then…
STAY STRONG & KEEP SMILING!!

Remember: Right now, there are MAJOR SALES HAPPENING...that will continue throughout July. My Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Post is Monday.
If you go to my SHOPPING LINKS to find your favorite retailer in fashion and home decor.
The green jacket from your Talbots stylist did not look comfortable, it looks like it’s pulling when you see the back of the outfit in the mirror. I think the key to looking polished is in the fit, which means tailoring. I love the orange jacket but I could never leave a jacket buttoned all day and I don’thave enough shorter tops to wear under the cropped jackets. They are a cute trend but I will stick to blazers and longer utility/jean jackets and seasonal appropriate cardigans.
Actually the green jacket is comfortable and the orange jacket is cute buttoned or open. So glad there are multiple ways to look at garments. Longer jackets are my preference as well but I am happy to have a few different options that are current and fun.
Happy Saturday, Ann!
I like the cropped styles, as long as they are not too cropped. I have a small frame, and the longer jackets tend to overwhelm me and throw off proportions. You look great in these, Pam.
Thanks Marcia…it has taken some getting accustomed to, but I do like to wear them every now and then.
You really wear the cropped jackets well. The green jacket looks so fun to wear with the double-breasted detail. I think I’ll sit this trend out, as it cuts across my widest feature.
I felt the same way, Kim…it cuts across my widest feature as well. But the style of the jacket makes a huge difference and I think my long legs help as well. I would be much more confident wearing one if my middle was smaller.
I was so sure I couldn’t wear cropped jackets or double breasted anything, till I tried them on. What is called “cropped” isn’t always cropped, but rather often sits at the high hip. That length is really flattering in making a longer-legged look, especially for the wider pants. To try to flatter my puffy tummy, I got some inexpensive St John’s Bay tanks and tees at JCP in colors that match/coordinate with each jacket. I wear them out, showing under the cropped jacket (the styling in the Ann Taylor link of yours shows a similar look with a sweater and shirt). I had nearly every cropped jacket from Chicos in your link, but just clicked through and ordered the navy ponte. The knit ones in particular can be worn here as an outer piece in the fall and as a blazer substitute in winter. I keep thinking of your retirement advice to wear what fits your life now, and these really elevate the jeans and athletic pants I regularly wear, and are machine washable. Sometimes I take one along with me and leave it in the car when I walk in the park, then change into it from my workout jacket to run a few errands or stop for a coffee.
Thanks for sharing your experience, Linda! That Ponte jacket looks like a good one.
For what it is worth Pamela, I feel the cropped jackets work well for your figure type however with the Talbot outfit depending upon the fabric of the top if feasible I would have considered ‘undertucking (cuffing)’ its hemline to around the lower waistband point of the pants rather than tuck it in . As for myself; I do like the cropped jackets as find they work with most styles of bottoms including dresses as well as footwear particularly if they are not too fitted (more of a box cut) and hit in the vicinity of the hip bone. Last but not least shall also add; for outerwear and in the climate I live in (snow belt region/Canada) they are a nice alternative from the longer (bundle-up) ones that we have no choice but to wear when temperatures begin to really drop. -Brenda-
P.S.: Thank you BTW for the Nordstrom link to some as much appreciated.
Thank you for joining in, Brenda!
I love the wool jacket in Clementine – super cute, and a perfect weight for our northwest climate. I used to be comfortable in this style, or the classic Chanel-knockoff styled ladies’ jackets, but currently steer clear. My lower belly area has filled up with fibroids, sadly, and unless or until they cause me pain, my doctor is disinclined to surgery. So . . .probably not my best look.
You are sweet to share, Connie. Keep a watchful eye on your fibroids!
I actually like the J.Jill cropped jacket because it’s a few inches below the waistline. I have to be careful because of my muffin top! I do really like this trend. Thanks for sharing so many options.
I got a light weight white denim cropped jacket and love it on cool days. Looks great with my trouser cut jeans from Chicos. My weight has gathered around my waist and this actually makes me look slimmer! It does come to my high hip. As a short woman, I like the look.
You have nice long legs, and I like the cropped look on you. Of course, ‘cropped’ is a relative term. I’m not going to wear 19 inches and be uncomfortable when I sit down. But, I’ve put the Chico’s blue bomber in my cart. It’s several inches longer. I’m not sure how or if they fit it, but I like dress shrugs as well. Have a nice weekend!
You are welcome, Susie!
Good to know, Sydney…thank you!
You as well, Maeve!
For me, proportion is a key element when it comes to cropped jackets. I do like them because when they are the right length, they can make my short legs look longer. I have never been a fan of long tops hang below short jackets or sweaters. It just looks sloppy to my eye. I have a faux leather jacket that my husband purchased for me many years ago. It sits a couple of inches below my waist, so it is considered cropped. I always receive compliments when I wear it which is often. I wear it with a tucked in button down or a top of similar length. My blue & white denim jackets are also considered by some standards to be cropped. Of course, I would never wear a midriff bearing top as my abs are certainly not as toned as the lovely ladies pictured.
I agree with you, Becky on the midriff bearing tops…thank you for a thoughtful comment.
I like the cropped jacket on you. I do like them I think they make my legs look longer. I bought a white denim cropped one from Talbots last spring and wear it a lot.
I like the cropped jackets on you especially the faux leather one from Chico’s. Its out of the ordinary and I think it fits your adjectives perfectly. The style of the orange jacket is great on you. Pity that its too heavy for Texas. I’m short and really like jackets that hit just below my waist. I have faux leather and faux suede biker and jean-style jackets that I wear all the time in the colder weather I also liked the linen J Jill jacket you showed. I have a similar style from J Jill from a few years back in a moss green color that I wear in 3 seasons.
Thanks, Paula. Glad you have one you like!
Thanks Kathie!
Cute jackets, I do love the cropped look. But I always have to try them on, not all the crops look good on me. Somehow along the aging process I lost my waist and my hips got a bit bigger. But there are some crops that look good on me…Your looking great…..hard to think of jackets with a heat wave in progress. Here in SF Bay area, the heat wave has departed for awhile……a rough two weeks when you aren’t used to high heat…
Stay cool, Nancy. Even accustomed to it, the heat can be draining.
I might be too late here to get included but….I really want to let you know how flattering I think those cropped jackets are on you. IMO, they are quite slenderizing compared to kimono-type wraps, but that could be a function of my classic preferences. I think wider pants legs call for less bulk on top in order to keep porportions as good as possible. Just wish we could “crop” our waistlines as easily as cropping a jacket. l
Never too late, Mary Frances! I sure wish I could crop my waistline!! LOL!
I normally steer clear of cropped jackets because much of my height is in my torso. I have found a few I liked at JJill, which usually has a “tall” sizing option, and I also saw quite a few when I walked into Kohl’s last week. I plan to try the bright green one you’re wearing, as I think the angled hem in the front is really flattering, even at the shorter length. Thank you for keeping us informed on current trends and providing so many great options for us to consider! Even if it’s a trend I don’t plan to incorporate, I love reading the variety of viewpoints and comments from your community. So much of what we wear here in Texas is influenced by the weather, but it’s fun to know what ladies in cooler climates are wearing. Our Fort Worth forecast says we will be in the low 90’s at the end of the week, and I hope you get the same blessing down south!
That is what they are forecasting! Amazing for mid-July. Such a blessing. Thanks for being here, Lorri!
