2024 Fashion Trends: 2012 Inspired

2024 fashion trends

Happy fall Saturday!  Welcome to my 2024 Fashion Trends: 2012 Inspired.

On Saturdays this year, I have reported about something different every week in the 2024 fashion trends in an effort to help you look current, and understand what you see in stores and online.

Today is just a little different.

When I was researching the 2024 Fashion Trends, I ran across an article by E News about how the 2024 fashion trends are inspired and in many ways comebacks of 2012.

For example, the return of leopard prints and large handbags to the forefront of fashion are 2012 inspired 2024 fashion trends.

So, I researched 2012 fashion trends and came up with a couple that may be of interest to you in 2024.

So, let’s look at these, which are definitely in stores right now in the 2024 Fashion Trends…..

2024 FASHION TRENDS: 2012 INSPIRED: STATEMENT NECKLACES

2024 fashion trends

Statement Necklaces were a part of the 2012 Fashion Trends and into 2013.

For me, they are always on trend…because I love a creative statement necklace and wear them often.

This lovely lady was in a photo I took during the time of my youngest son’s wedding….I loved her statement necklace.

It pleased me to see other women enjoying a bold accessory like I do despite weather they are a trend or not.

The simple necklace I wore for the rehearsal dinner of the same wedding, was when I began to love the Southern Living brand of necklaces at Dillard’s.

Dillard’s Southern Living necklaces are statement necklaces and at great prices compared to many brands that sell jewelry.2024 fashion trends

If your style adjectives include dramatic, bold, or creative, a necklace like this Southern Living Gold and Silver Disc Frontal Statement Necklace will tell the world at only $28.

I have had my eye on this one for awhile and it just may be time to get it at this sale price.

Here is another great deal.

It is the Southern Living Multi Cord Short Pendant Statement Necklace.…and I love the artistic flair for only $38.

For those who love statement necklaces, Southern Living at Dillard’s is a secret treasure.

2024 FASHION TRENDS: 2012 INSPIRED: SKINNY JEANS RETURN

2024 fashion trends

In the 2024 Fashion Trends: 2012 Inspired you would find the return of skinny jeans.

However, many of us over 50, 60, and beyond prefer to go with jeggings, the child of the marriage of leggings and jeans.

You can find button front jeggings, but I believe many prefer the pull on jeggings for more comfort.

Apparently, in 2012 the skinny jean trend became popular for offerings in different colors.

In the 2024 fashion trends, we find jeggings in different colors.

Like the ones here from Macy’s.  This is the Style & Co. Women’s Mid-Rise Pull-On Jeggings, Created for Macy’s.

It is sold in six different colors.

Chico’s was where I discovered jeggings several years ago and have been a fan since.

This is the CHICO’S DENIM PULL ON JEGGINGS in three colors.

Talbot’s has some great choices in jeggings and I particularly like this STRETCH CORDUROY JEGGINGS in five excellent colors.

They have the most variety of sizes offered in Jeggings….include one for Curvy Fit.

Click here for the STRETCH CORDUROY JEGGINGS in curvy fit.

You can save money on jeggings by shopping the ANA brand at JC Penney.

Now, ignore the short top in the pictures and think about the pants.

I own a white and sand pair of ANA jeggings and I really like them.

So, you might check out the ANA Womens High Rise Jegging Skinny Fit Jean…both pair of the ones I own are button front.

While I was shopping jeggings at JCP, I also came across the ANA WOMENS HIGH RISE STRAIGHT LEG JEAN in four beautiful autumn colors.

With the code NUTMEG, you can own them for $23.99 and may want more than one color at this price!

I do like and wear this jean.

Once again, I hope the 2024 Fashion Trends: 2012 Inspired has given you some fall outfit inspiration.  You may have some of these items already in your closet.

Let me know if you have questions and I will see you tomorrow for Sunday Reflections.

Until then…..

STAY STRONG & KEEP SMILING!

  1. That was fun! I was still teaching and it brought me back to my wardrobe and accessories that were my favorites, some of which I still have. Recently I have been pulling my old photos out from late 60s and early 70s scrapbooks that are a bit musty. I am surprised that many of the styles would look current today. Many are even in my autumn colors. I really enjoyed your article.
Regarding European butter, I have never seen it here, but I have never looked. No wonder bread and butter tastes better when traveling!

  2. Happy Saturday, Deborah! I also recently looked back at what I wore as a teacher after I went through my big reinvention… you are right that many could be worn today.
Also, I feel confident that you can find a brand of European butter most anywhere! Thanks for starting us off today!

  3. I love statement jewelry and have never stopped wearing my bold accessories, especially the wide, bead embroidered cuffs I make. I use the adjective interesting because other than one (or two, if I wear an interesting shoe) accessory, my look is pared down. I have a few Brahmin totes I haven’t been able to part with, though now that I’m retired, I find them heavy and a little dressy. Probably time to give my cross bodies a rest and pull one out! Fun post!

  4. Thanks Linda! I pulled out a tote yesterday and it was fun to carry something different! Glad you enjoyed the post!

  5. sadly, I won’t be torturing myself again trying to find skinny jeans that are flattering on my rectangular body. (Always thought my body was the problem, done with self shaming.) Finally realized my thighs and calves are too muscular and not suited to this style. Did keep my Jeggings to tuck in to my boots. Can’t wait to see the new home “Pamalized”.

  6. I’m done with skinny jeans. They are quite uncomfortable on my more muscular calves from years of long distance bicycling. Flares, bootcut and trouser cut from Chicos are my favorite. I guess that the only way to lose the fluffy waistline is give up bread. I gave up sugar a long time ago but my waistline is only 4” less than my hips. So far only Chicos 12P fits me and JCP Liz Claiborne Sara jeans also 12P fit me comfortably. At 79, for two more months, I insist on comfort over style.

  7. I never gave up my skinny jeans or jeggings. I don’t look good in wide leg pants. They appear to add pounds. I also don’t wear large, heavy statement necklaces. They seem to overpower me and look matronly. But I do enjoy fun jewelry.

  8. Hi Pam – I’m coming “late to the party” since I just read this today….but…
I wanted to tell you how much I appreciate the fact that you show us clothes/jewelry/shoes/handbags, etc., in reasonable, affordable prices. So many bloggers are featuring handbags that cost well over $1K and shoes in the over $500 mark, sweaters/jackets starting in the $500 range….really unaffordable. I could go on and on. I’m a Nordstrom/Chico’s/Talbots shopper but some of bloggers choices are just “whew!” Your choices are so very refreshing. Thank you for doing our shopping!

  9. You are welcome, Margi…I do my best to keep that in mind. It it good to hear this.
    Thanks!

  10. Corduroy never went out of style. I wore 7 wale bell bottoms with Paisley shirts
accompanied by “The low Spark of Healed boys!” In those happy days I could buy
Lee fine wale pants for $7. It was legal to have fun in public! ie Cruising on 28th street 30 miles one way across Grand Rapids MI. Now if you aren’t a jock; there’s not much for you except being bullied.
    Ciao
