An October Monday Moment

Monday moment

Good morning, everyone.  Today, I have only an October Monday Moment for you.

Yesterday’s conversation was amazing and so helpful on the monkey lights!

Lots of smiles too.

But, the day did get away from me… visiting a new church, unpacking boxes, cooking a healthy meal, doing laundry for the first time…I just couldn’t get a post put together.

So, I just wanted to start off our Monday moment with a wish for you to have a day full of joy and God’s blessings.

Remember to be thankful for all things big and small.

Despite a little chaos right now, I am thankful for this new adventure.

Monday Moment

And while we are thankful for all we have, let’s keep Kathie in this blog community and the rest of North Carolina in our prayers for a Monday moment.

Remember this photo that Kathie sent me before the move and I share it because I loved the message on this little church she walks by.

Just a reminder to me that all of these changes are beautiful.

Well, the same church is now a place for people to find much needed water and assistance.

Kathie sent this photo yesterday….

Monday Moment

Kathie wrote: The sign is pretty well hidden now from the two massive oak trees that went down in the storm. Thankfully they did not hit the church. Our churches are getting resources from congregations outside of the affected area. This water is here for the entire community as we are without power and have no indication of when it will be restored so we can’t boil the water to make it safe. So thankful for all the help from Neighbors. Thankful to be able to flush a toilet and take a cold shower. We’re all sharing resources here. Those of us with generators are storing food or running extension cords to other homes. We don’t know how long our propane will hold out. It’s in God’s hands.

Please remember to add them to your prayers.

Thank you for allowing me a brief Monday moment today.  This community is a special place.

  1. Dear Pam you are amazing and I am sure your readers are fine about you not putting a normal Monday post together. Also thanks for writing about the wonderful work that Kathie’s church and community are doing to help those affected by the hurricane.
I hope you get more organised in your new home this week and that you get to explore more of what your new town has to offer.

  2. Any of us who have moved from one town to another are certainly well aware of the seemingly endless boxes to be emptied and details to be attended to…so please feel that you can take whatever time you need to make things right in your new home and in your mind. I do go to your blog every morning first thing but that’s because I’m interested in what my friend, Pam, is doing or thinking or feeling today. We all want you to be well rested and not pressured to provide us with new material daily. We all need prayer, and those affected by Hurricane Helene as well as those who will be affected by Hurricane Milton later this week can use more prayer than usual. Have a great day!

  3. Pam, I read yesterday’s post but didn’t have time to respond. It’s good to know you feel you did the right thing. Moving is hard.
It’s good to read what Kathie said about the area where she lives. I do pray for those people in that area. I hope they get enough help to get them the things they need.

  4. Just wanted to cry when I read Kathie’s comments and, thankfully, for the help from the neighboring communities…everything that the people have lost and will be needing and here I am sitting with clothing that hasn’t been worn in a while and sits in my closet(s). Oh, how I wish, some of these clothes could be donated to those who have nothing left. When you’ve lost everything, even older/not-in-style clothing would be appreciated.

  5. Moving is hard work and adjusting, unpacking and setting up your home the way you want it takes time. We understand.
Yes we too are praying for all who are suffering through Helene’s wrath and now Milton heading to Florida and beyond. Heartbreaking!

  6. Thank you for sharing Kathie’s message with us, Pam. Not only does it remind us to pray, but also how very blessed we are. We take so much for granted until we don’t have it. This is an especially timely message for those of us in Canada who will be celebrating Thanksgiving this weekend.

  7. I want to echo Elaine. Earlier this year, I went to the Canadian Rockies, including Jasper. Much of what I saw there has since burned down. We are all affected. There are many ways to donate to the folks in the Carolina’s. The weather is getting colder from what I read, so now’s the time to donate. Perhaps your own churches are putting boxes together too? I know where I am in Maine, emergency crews are on their way down to help to get the repairs started. I remember what a debt we owed the Canadians in 1991 after Hurricane Bob when they came to where I lived in RI. You could hear buzz saws for weeks, clearing roads, driveways, and yards. They stayed until the work was done.

  8. Prayers are with you Kathie! I can’t even imagine how difficult this must be. The simple act of turning on water and taking a hot shower or making dinner. I hope relief comes soon for all of you.

I’d also like to send payers to Israel on this dark anniversary of being attacked a year ago. Jews assaulted and killed and taken hostage. Women raped, homes burned, children killed. Many, many hostages have not come home, still waiting release.

Pam, it sounds like you are settling in well. I can imagine just being around your daughter and grandchildren is so rewarding. Blessings to you all.

  9. Please take whatever time you need to get settled in your new home. We will all check in and see if your blog is here. Right now we are all feeling the tragedy that Helene has caused in five states. Paulette said we are all praying for those affected and now Milton is heading for Florida. We are sending prayers your way Kathie.

  10. We all understand that you are working hard to unpack & move into your new home & new life. Continued prayers for North Carolina & Tennessee as they seek to recover. Also, praying for a large section of Florida as they prepare for Hurricane Milton, which is now a Category 5.
