  1. I’m excited to share that my offer on the historic Craftsman-era home of my dreams was accepted yesterday morning. I can swing it financially, but it’s going to require an austerity program for other types of shopping. No more random buying of yet another sweater I don’t honestly need. I’m so glad to see such nice pieces from JCP. This is how I’m going to need to shop going forward. My favorite looks are the burgundy jacket/scarf combo and the longer teal sweater jacket, but you’ve got so many great looks for fall and the holidays. Since you tried on the gold tweed jacket so recently after trying on the one at Chico’s, which one seems like the better buy overall? This one looks more yellow-gold in photos, but that could just be the lighting. Isn’t it fun to have a reason to start shopping for fall? We finally got some rain this week and our temperatures are finally below 80 degrees. Hoping you are getting the same trend out west of me!

  2. Congratulations on your house!! How exciting! Both jackets have benefits. I much prefer the design and versatility of the Chico’s jacket. I believe the buttons down the front are more slimming than the big pockets on the JCP jacket. But for a jacket you might not wear often, you can’t beat that JCP price! Yes, our weather is gorgeous right now and feels very fall!

  3. Oh. I love craftsmen style houses. We have so few in southern Maine. Congratulations to Texas Aggie Mom!
Pam, you are really getting to know your favorite stores, finding new gems, and meeting people along the way!

  4. Hmmm … I see both hits and misses in this collection. Prices for some things looked great, others so high I can easily beat them at the Talbots Red Hanger and Chicos clearance racks. Back in the day, Liz was a working woman brand that I wore frequently, and I still see remnants of that aesthetic in the jackets and classic lines. I really liked the long teal cardigan. Thanks for the try on!

  5. Love the teal cardigan!
Well oops lol I saw yesterday “MY Living room” so that’s why I thought it was your house.
    Thanks for correcting me.
    Take care!

  6. I would love for that to be my house! She is a talented designer! I get why you thought that!

  7. Congrats to Texas Aggie! Would love to see pics when she moves in, as I once had a Craftsman bungalow myself and loved it. Thanks for the JCP try-on, Pam. The brooches are so much fun, and quite a good selection through your link. Happy Thursday! 💕

  8. Congratulations to Texas Aggie Mom on your new craftsman home. I love that style. I also saw hits and misses in today’s collection. The long cardigan is very nice, especially in the camel, though the teal looks very nice on you Pam. Most of rest though have dropped shoulders rather than set in sleeves. I used to make most of my own clothes so I know its a cheaper & faster construction not requiring the precision fit of set in sleeves. Unless the fabric is very lightweight it adds considerable volume to the underarms and pounds on those of us with full busts as the seamline and bulk hit is there. Unfortunately more and more retailers are using this to keep their cost down. And keeping costs down is important for providing clothes as a lower price. But I’m seeing this at other retailers with a much higher price.

  9. TAMom, congrats! I love Craftsman style. I agree about an austerity program for clothes. There’s only so much that we really need, and using our adjectives gives us a lot of options to create different outfits with what we have. Getting your house set up will be so much fun! I’m not sure about these Liz Claiborne clothes. My mom bought a lot of LC back in the day, but as a small person, I don’t find all the drop shoulders that appealing.

  10. Your wonderful attitude reminds me of a story I read in Guideposts magazine years ago. There was a general store just west of St. Louis, MO, and it was the last outpost heading west. Pioneers would stop there to get their provisions for the rest of their trek, and invariably asked the shopkeeper about the people who had passed through before them. The shopkeeper would ask what type of people they were leaving behind. If the inquirers responded with “wonderful neighbors, always willing to lend a helping hand” he would tell them that they were in luck, as those were the type of people headed west. But, if they responded with “miserable, miserly, awful neighbors” he would regretfully tell them that those were indeed the travelers he had met. You are an inspiration, Pamela, your positive, upbeat attitude as you meet the challenges life invariably brings us is uplifting. Thank you for being you and sharing your gifts with your readers. (p.s. I am a huge fan of Liz Claiborne at J.C.Penney.)

  11. Loved your story Sandi! I’m also a fan of Liz Claiborne clothes. Her jeans fit me and last. They are good quality denim. The inner waistband has soft elastic all around which helps me with my fluffy middle. I love craftsman houses but never had one.

  12. Congratulations to Texas Aggie Mom on your house!
I am a of Liz Claiborne, & it is my favorite JCP brand. I have several pieces of clothing & a great handbag.

  13. I use to love shopping in JC Penney’s but since I moved away from San Antonio I went in one in West Des Moines, IA once and now I’m in Tucson and there isn’t one near me. Sad that so many of these department stores have closed. The items looked great that you showed and easy on the pocket..

  14. I am glad they there is a store where I am now and it is a very nice location. Thanks Linda.

  15. For some reason I am not receiving your posts through my email. It was just luck that it showed up on Facebook. Do you have any idea what could be wrong?

  16. For some reason, the yahoo addresses get kicked out occasionally. I will put you back in and we can see what happens. Thank you for reading and letting me know.

  17. I like your shoes. Where could I purchase those? I’m looking for some light colored casual shoes that will withstand our Michigan winters.
