Spring Palette Clothes in my Closet

Spring palette clothes

Happy Friday, ladies!  Today I take you to see some of my Spring Palette Clothes in my closet.

Perhaps deep down inside I did know I was really a Spring Palette, but at least I knew I was a warm color palette, so I think a few of my current clothes do work as spring palette clothes.

Now, some of the ones I kept in my closet are not exact matches, but close enough that I believe they still work.

Today, the stars of my spring palette clothes in my closet are both jackets from J.Jill which motivated me to look at their current collection of jackets and I have a few picks here that might work as well.

So, even if you are cold outside, let’s think SPRING, and look over the spring palette clothes in my closet.

SPRING PALETTE CLOTHES IN MY CLOSET: A NEW TAN

spring palette clothes

This linen jacket from JJill has been in my closet for a couple of years and the color was called “cinnamon.”

But, you can see on my spring palette fan, it is not cinnamon at all.

However, it is close to a perfect match for “tan.”

So, I decided it stays!

This past week, I wore it with another older short sleeve top which was from JC Penney with tan stripes.  I think I paid $11 for the top and it has served me well for at least three years.

But, I do see a similar color with horizontal stripes called the J.JILL WEAREVER STRIPED V-NECK TEE.

I will put it on the “think-about-it-list.”

The pants are also from JCP, they are off white jeggings by a.n.a.

They also have served me well and have a little stretch in them.  I like the fit of a.n.a at JCP…look at the A.N.A. JEGGINGS.

Finally, for this outfit, I have on a favorite Easy Spirit shoe…I know you see it on my often…it is great for walking.

This is the DENISE AUSTIN EASYWALK EMOVE WALKING SHOE…a great looking, slip on sneaker.  Remember the savings code PAMELA20, for 20% off.

SPRING PALETTE CLOTHES IN MY CLOSET: WORKING WITH NAVY

spring palette clothes

My best shade of navy in my new spring palette is called BRIGHT NAVY.

This spring outfit that I wore to get my nails done this week, is a darker navy, but I did hold on to many of my navy pieces.

This is another J.Jill jacket that I did purchase in one of their deep clearance sales.

I am wearing it with a navy top and my navy pants from Talbots.

The reason I have on sandals is because I was heading out for a pedicure.

I am going to look for brighter navy selections, but for now I am wearing navy I have in my closet for spring palette clothes.

I like these two outfits, but after trying some brighter spring colors earlier in the week, I personally believe that the yellows, greens, corals, pinks will be my best colors.

You can kind of see how this dark navy does cast shadows on my face.

But, I am early in this journey so we will see where it takes me….hopefully by some bright navy selections.

SPRING PALETTE CLOTHES I MIGHT ADD TO MY CLOSET

spring palette clothes

After looking over J.Jill’s new collection, I have a few of their pieces on my radar for my new spring palette clothes…particularly for casual outfits.

This is the COTTON LINEN DENIM JACKET in a light sunset coral.

I like all of the seaming front and back that it has to help with a more flattering fit.

spring palette clothes

I really like this cardigan and it has two possible colors that would work…but I am more drawn to the color called Cactus Flower.

This is the RIBBED OPEN FRONT CARDI …it does not have pockets, but if the fit is as good as some of the comments say, then that doesn’t matter to me.

Spring palette color

I would really like to see this color…it is called “light peach dust.”

I do like the design of this RELAXED UTILITY JACKET.

This shirt does have my attention!  And I like that it can also be worn as a topper.

This is the EYELET SCALLOPED HEM SHIRT in lemon….which may be close to the canary yellow in my spring palette.

And I also like the look of the CONTRASTING EYELET TUNIC...which is on sale.

I am taking time to look at colors and items VERY CLOSELY…especially online…before I add them to the spring palette clothes in my closet.

Thanks for being here today and taking this journey with me through a new color palette.

If you have any thoughts on SPRING PALETTE CLOTHES IN MY CLOSET, then please leave them here.  I will be here tomorrow with another selection for the 2025 Fashion Trends.

Until then……

KEEP SMILING!!

  1. You look great in the Spring colors. As a fellow Spring, I appreciate the seeing your choices. Even before I read the book Color Me Beautiful (many years ago) and determined that I am a Spring, confirmed by a Color Me Beautiful color consultant, I gravitated to Spring colors. I do wear pants in white or black, but keep Spring colors near my face. You made a good choice to keep some of your Fall colors. I have a few things in Fall colors that are fairly close to Spring colors but feel more seasonally appropriate to wear in the fall and winter than some of the Spring colors.

  2. I love the tan on you, and I think it’s one of my best colors too (I tend to call it amber, so apparently there isn’t much to a name :)). The navy is acceptable, but I agree, it does cast shadows. Who knew? But now I see it clearly. I might prefer this outfit with a Kelly green, coral or lemon tee on you. That said, these pieces are so basic, flattering in cut, and versatile I agree you should keep them for now. I spotted that coral jacket on line yesterday, and I thought of you. I tend to wear coral and turquoise in the spring as a lighter version of rusty and teal colors in fall. Actually, I’m the most interested in seeing what core neutrals you end up with and how easy they might be to locate in stores. Thanks for taking us along on this journey and being willing to be vulnerable/teachable. In just a few short days, I’ve learned a lot about a subject I find fascinating.

  3. Thank you for going on the journey with me. I also am learning so much! Happy Friday!

  4. Pam, you look great. I think you are going to love the corals, greens, and yellows. Maybe you could add some colorful scarves near your face to brighten up the tops in your wardrobe. Have a wonderful weekend.

  5. I have the JJill cardigan and flowered shell in my cart. Waiting for a discount or April for my birthday discount. I love the coral color. I bought the cardigan in a pretty green earlier this month. It’s on sale now. Is spring green in your palette?

  6. I do like you in your spring colors. You look very nice in the first picture even though navy is one of my favorite colors, but I have cool coloring.
It looks like your enjoying finding new outfits that are right for you.

  7. As you are noticing, everyone calls a color by a different name, so try not to get caught up in what it is labeled. One easier trick is to lay the palette on the fabric and see if the item belongs, meaning, if it could slip into the strip of swatches, same intensity, hue and brightness. It must not slide toward dusty or murky. There are hundreds more colors that fit in with yours, it just takes a lot of practice to work out the harmony. The Sci-Art system has some amazing in depth articles on understanding this. Christine Scaman has written an amazing book on ‘ Return to your natural Colours’. Absolutely fascinating. You Tubes are really interesting.
Sorry to go on and on, but this is one of my favorite topics.
That peach/coral cardigan is gorgeous. So happy that you are finding things in your own closet.

  8. Could you show two navies side by side. Not sure what “bright navy “ means. I am a winter.
Enjoy your blog..always find it helpful. Like your spring outfits.

  9. Thanks for sharing, Diane. To book sounds like my next read…I will check into it. There is so much information online that I do believe it can confuse women, so I am going to trust the professionals who brought me to this moment and use the fan I have. I saw what their colors did for me, so I am excited to search for them. But, I also would like to read the book.

  10. I will try to do that for you…dark navy is often confused with black. The brighter navy is just that…bright. It is easier to see the blue in it. I will do my best to shoot a picture where you can see it. Thanks Mary.

  11. Pam here is my House of Colour experience. I was expecting to have fun but did not expect the feeling of confidence and empowerment.
So reassuring to feel I will make better clothing choices. I’m absolutely convinced I will save money with this knowledge. (See my lipstick comment below 😂) As you said this experience solidified thoughts already rambling around in my head about color choices. I will stop waisting time searching to find my “right” brown…because..NO browns.
The VERY 1st thing I did when I got home was to pull out all of my lipsticks (wait for it…. 40 + lipsticks). Even when I went a serious cosmetics counters, Sephora, Dior, Este Lauder I was ALWAYS told to lean into mauve. (Unfortunately true to my mind set I always assumed I was doing something wrong even when the “experts” guided me.) NOT mauve but berry! My goodness what a difference.
The 2nd thing I did was to run into my closet with my color fan!!! WOW I quickly saw why the items I liked when they were purchased are not what I reach for when getting dressed.
I did purchase some cosmetics; mineral powder foundation which I’ve always loved, blush and their primer, I had given up on primer but liked this one. First time EVER I loved how my face looked when she was done. Minimal but with fresh impact.
    Additional insights:
-While browsing Quince website 💗 So freeing to simply dismiss colors and items that were not in my colors.
-If a reader is contemplating using House of Colour specifically I think one of the reasons this was such a great experience is that consultants own their franchise so they have financial skin in the game to be the best they can be.

  12. I am loving this journey! As a dark autumn I have that cinnamon blazer, too, and I love it. My analyst says that as long as the colors blend, I am all set. I usually bring home a new piece and hang it in my closet. Within 24 hours I am honest with myself as to whether it REALLY works or whether I just want it to. My closet is organized by color, not types of clothing. I am really careful about JJill. Lots of times it looks fine in the store, but when I bring it home, I discover it is not autumn but summer. This happens mostly in the fall. Spring colors are pretty obvious. Today I have on that open JJill sweater in a lime, but more of a pistachio lime. It is from a few years ago. I love Jjill. For people who are interested in Christine Scamen, go to her 12 blueprints site. She is amazing. Pam, I sent you an email with link.

  13. I meant to say those choices look fab. I have a teal and a salmon top from JJill that both have depth. That is what I need while you need brightness. A friend of mine who is a bright spring has had luck in the past at Kohl’s with simple pull on bright navy pants. I see her this weekend for a walk. If she has picked up anything in bright navy this season, I will let you know where. It makes a huge difference.

  14. Wow! Thank you, Suzi! What a great comment and confirms that your experience was similar to mine. I love hearing the other journeys!

  15. Thank you, Deborah and such great advice to hang the new purchase in the closet for a little while. I will go to her site.

  16. I have a winter puffer coat which is bright navy. Landsend called it Midnight blue. The brighter navy looks better on me as well. My cool complexion looks best with it too. I can wear some of your spring colors as long as they don’t lean yellowish. You will look terrific in the coral cardigan! It is gorgeous but with a similar plain tee. The light tan jeggings look like straight leg jeans on you. That outfit is perfect on you!

  17. I think that cardigan has your name on it, Pam. I have purchased a few open cardis from J Jill over the past couple years including the lime one and they have held up nicely. None of them have pockets and I prefer that streamline style. I never put anything in a sweater pocket anyway because I don’t want it to stretch the sweater out of shape. On the screen Cactus Flower looks to a close match to the Apricot in my color fan. The yellow eyelet blouse would be a good Spring item too, too bright for me sadly. I used to love wearing eyelet in the summer. I don’t think you could go wrong with any of your choices. Hope you can find items in Bright Navy as I know you love wearing Navy. I wonder if it as elusive as Marine Nave? I looked up the book “Returning to Your True Colors” on AddALL. Apparently its out of print and the only used copy currently for sale is on Amazon for $2557.81. I’m not kidding.

  18. Kathie, the name of the book is Return to your Natural Colours, and it is in it’s third printing, so must be a different book.

  19. Color names can be so misleading, & if you’re shopping online, it can be so hard to tell what the true color is. I think the tan jacket is much more flattering on you than the darker browns. I also think you are wise to proceed slowly with your purge. There are some things that might work as long as they are farther away from your face.

  20. Well…that book is out of my price range…YIKES! I just returned from the mall and the color that was most difficult to find today was the bright navy..sadly it may be as elusive as the marine navy. I just saw Diane’s comment on the book…thank goodness!

  21. Sorry I typed the title incorrectly in my reply. Looks like the price has gone up since I first searched.

  22. Don’t apologize, Kathie. Thank you for helping us out. I just looked on my Amazon and you are completely right…yikes. If you find one, ladies, hold on to it.

  23. You look great in your new spring outfits, Pam. I wish I could wear an intense yellow, but it is not for me. I do search pretty carefully for primrose which is the only yellow in my summer fan chart from House of Colour. I was given the advice to hang on to some things if I truly loved them and especially if still cool rather than warm. I am glad I did. I don’t wear much black, but did keep a couple of black skirts and one pair of black slacks. I also own a vintage St. John black jacket that I just love. So I’ll keep that as well. However, it is true as others have said that you can dismiss a good deal of what is out there on the market that just won’t work for you. It does save money and time.

  24. Thanks for sharing, Mary. I hong on to a lovely Eileen Fisher coat that I have had for years that is a dark brown with black flecks…I haven’t worn it in a long time, but it is difficult for me to say good bye to it.

  25. You’ve found some great “spring” color options in your closet already – what a blessing! I so appreciate the explanation about navy versus bright navy. I look awful in the dark form of navy, but the lighter shade is in my palette, so I’m trying to gradually steer my navy pieces in that direction. If you’re not familiar with Peruvian Connection, I think you might really like their offerings. They are more pricey than our favorite stores like JJill or Chico’s, but I splurge on a few pieces from them each year, and watch for their sales. They have Chatham knit jacket in their new catalog that looks bright navy, and it’s a shape that has formerly worked really well for me, so I can’t wait for it to arrive. It is a less structured knit jacket but has a very flattering shape you might like. I loved seeing the striped jacket over the column of navy you created and that was a good reminder how flattering that outfit formula can be. I need to try similar looks in some of my better colors. I loved the yellow eyelet look from JJill, and can imagine you wearing that openwork jacket and the matching top with your lemon necklace at Eastertime. I’ve been feeling “shoppy” all day so I’m about to head to JJill and see if there’s anything I can’t live without that might help me transition to spring, my least favorite fashion season. I dug out my color fan from my 2014 evaluation and will be taking it along for guidance. These recent conversations about color have been so interesting to me, and a reminder that there’s a good reason we pay so much to have our colors analyzed – it works!

  26. So glad you had that fan from 2014! And yes…color analysis does work…once you see it, you cannot un-see it!

  27. As a Spring, I suggest focusing on clear and bright verses muted and muddy colors. Muted colors, even if they’re muted versions of the “spring” palette, can really drain your face and make a Spring look washed out. I still have my Spring Color Me Beautiful swatches from almost 40 years ago, and know how helpful they are. Genuine “Spring” colors can be difficult to find, especially in the fall and winter, so buy up what you can now, and enjoy looking brighter and younger!

  28. I am enjoying it, Theresa. Thanks so much…I agree that the clear and bright looks best on me. I am trying to make a few of my closet keepers work, but the search for colors has been a fun one.
