It took me a few years to embrace the graphic tee trend, but I’m glad I did. I think it was Une Femme whose blog first inspired me to try them under a blazer. I have several I really enjoy wearing with either a blazer or a relaxed cardigan. While shopping for my Charleston trip last year I found several in linen blends at TJMaxx, and I bought two music-themed tees in Nashville that are among my favorites. I was unaware that they were trending this spring, so thanks for inspiring me to shop my closet and put them into rotation this spring! The return of cold weather this weekend has me devoting my Saturday to making peace with my new master bedroom closet. I am determined to sort out all the items I’ve brought to the new house so far by type, color and season, and then to figure out some sort of system for housing them in these much-smaller closets. I plan to reward myself by cooking some homemade chili and cornbread as a reward afterward, so I can make the most of what may be our last spell of colder weather!
Have fun with your closet! I also had the same meal in mind today. It’s cold!! And pull out the graphic tees to wear soon!
You’ve shown us a great selection of cute graphic tees. I think they are a great option for adding interest under a blazer or jacket or for wearing with shorts or skorts for a fun casual look. I clicked through all the links and like a lot of them if they had been in different colors and had a lower neckline. I’ve gotten very picky about tees. I’m 5’3″ and short waisted so need 25″ or preferably shorter. My favorite tee is Chico’s perfect tee. Right now most of them have a high crew neck. The v-neck version is the one I buy whenever the colors are right. The fit is different from their other tees. It is more fitted and some don’t like that fit but I am slim through the waist so it works for me. Also has spandex which gives it more body and it doesn’t get baggy with wear. J Jill has a similar style tee with spandex and this a bit more relaxed with a back pleat but not boxy. I had a bra fitting at Dillard’s yesterday for a tee shirt bra and can’t believe how much better my shirts look. I hope this info is helpful. I want to thank whoever recommended L’Oreal self tanners. Two applications and my legs are shorts ready. Good thing because we are in the 80s this weekend.
I absolutely love a fun graphic t-shirt as well. To dress it up I’ll wear a blazer. Often I’ll wear one with a sweater or jacket, as you mentioned above. There are so many out there. You didn’t mention Old Navy, but they have a wonderful selection all year long, and are so affordable and fun! I love their fit and drape. Thanks for sharing Pam.
Hi Amy, you are right Old Navy does have some fun ones…I tried to hit the highlights, but there are so many…and YES, Old Navy is on my shopping links page. Thanks so much.
A new bra is so refreshing and does make a huge difference. I understand about necklines, because my preferred neckline is a V-Neck, but I have added a few crewnecks recently in my new colors. Thanks so much, Kathie.
This is a trend I’ve skipped so far. We had to wear spirit wear periodically at my old high school, and often they were men’s tees that were cut straight. To accommodate my puffy middle, I had to size up into the (way) sloppy zone. I just hated it. This is a cute trend that has too many negative connotations for me, I think :). I loved that sun one form Anthro, but if I bought one, it would be to wear under a jacket, so it would have to be a more centered element. I like the music ones, and some of the florals. It would be a save, not spend, item for me.
I felt the same way, Linda for a very long time, because I was a high school teacher who looked awful in the spirit wear. But, I over the last few years, I have been slowly sticking my toe in the water. I also prefer the centered graphics, but fit has everything to do with the best ones. Thank you for being open about it.
This is a trend I can enjoy participating in! I actually just bought the Talbots roll sleeve botanical in lavender. Since it’s 100% cotton I did size up and I’m glad I did as it shrunk after washing and drying on delicate. I measured it before and after drying and it shrunk two inches in width and length and now fits perfectly. I hang many things to dry but would prefer to machine dry my t shirts. Very nice and lots of choices to choose from here Pam! I must say that pink jacket and shirt underneath looks amazing on you. I can’t believe what a difference this color palette makes on your appearance. Now if I could just figure which are my best colors. Really enjoy your posts.
Thanks Sonja…and thanks for the tip on the Talbots tee!
Good Saturday Morning! 🪻💗
Generally speaking, I am not much of a t-shirt person, but do appreciate the fabric of a slub tee, a placed-floral (like up at the shoulder, across at opposite hip), and a U or square neckline. If all those factors align, I’m in! 😄 The chili and cornbread sounds like a fantastic idea, although we’re due for a 75-degree beauty of a day.
Every body is upside down today. it is even cold and damp in San Antonio where they hoped to have perfect weather for the Final Four. I hope that beautiful 75 degrees is back here on Monday. Thanks Connie for describing your perfect tee.
Funny about those spirit wear options! When I taught, the students did some amazing reworking of those baggy shirts! As they got skimpier, smaller and more suggestive, our principal created a rule that no school shirt could be defaced and worn during classes. You have to appreciate the creativity of young minds! Love that Anthropologie tee!
Oh I know those young minds well…teaching high school for 16 years was an education for me too. I really like the Anthropologie tee…wish there was a similar design in my colors! Thanks Linda.
Though many of the graphic tees are pretty, I find a lot of them too busy for my classic taste. I did like the crew neck floral from Talbot’s because it is a bit more subtle. I will have to keep my eyes open to if I can find any that speak to me. There is a chill in the air here in the Midwest, too. It is possible that we might have another hard freeze mid-week. That’s why our plant experts always tell us to wait to plant until after Mother’s Day. It has actually snowed in early May here.
I paid heed to the warnings and have not planted. I am watching to see if I need to bring in my Boston ferns…there is ice and snow just a little north of us. Stay warm!
Like Connie, I am not much of a T-shirt person. I have bought some graphic t’s, usually on vacation abroad where it might say Rome or Paris simply and neatly across the front. (I do love Anthropologie’s sun tee and if you click on it, another style is in dark olive with a banana.) I am too fussy about color, sleeve length, and placement of design now that I am bustier. Sigh. It is the classic in me. I sure had fun looking at these! Oh, I just remembered a very dressy wedding event. The woman, in her 40s at the time, had on a very dressy suit and heels with a T of Bob Dylan’s face covering most of the front. I remember thinking that I could do that. A bit subversive, at times. I would never had worn it with a pair is shorts though. Hmm.
Nor I, but sometimes a fun graphic tee can take us out of our box a little bit. I have a tee from the Last Bookstore in LA. I was actually taken out there a few years ago to be in a Walmart ad. Super fun. I loved the tee until my colors changed and now it hangs in my closet because it is black & white. I previously wore it with a black blazer and jeans!
All the bright colors you’ve been wearing lately look fabulous on you! They bring life to your sweet smile and make you look so youthful. I especially like the coral/hot pink? jacket. Thanks for finding all these spring styles.
You are so welcome. So far shopping for my new colors has been fun!
Well it snowed all night here in Cañon City, Colorado! My blossoms on my crabapple trees are covered with snow. Our high today is 43 but only 36 and cloudy now. I can’t see the mountains around us. Very low grey clouds. So I think no tees today. However, I loved so many that you chose for us to see! I prefer centered graffics and I like both crew and v necks. I did buy several tees with bateau necklines and the jury is out on them. I am petite with a busty and thickened waist and have wide shoulders. This neckline emphasizes the shoulders but makes the bust less noticeable. I love your choices but we just had a huge expense with getting a new tankless water heater and then yesterday, the furnace quit. It was fixed thank goodness but it has been a hard week on the pocketbook. I’m so grateful for hot water and heat today!
I have a couple of graphic tees. It was a big decision for the first one. I do enjoy wearing them mostly under shirts or blazers.
So glad you have hot water. You never need to give reasons for not shopping…just enjoy the content. Happy to have you here.
They are fun to occasionally mix things up! Thanks Audrey.?
