A summer outfit with printed pants
Happy final day of June, everyone! Today I want to show you a summer outfit with printed pants.
I love a summer outfit with printed pants…I have liked the look of printed pants for a very long time and enjoy styling them all year long.
I put together this summer outfit for church yesterday and Mr. B was willing to snap a few shots as we left the house.
He is actually telling people now that he is my Instagram boyfriend! I suppose it sounds cooler than being a blogger’s boyfriend.
Any way…in honor of my love of printed pants, allow me to tell you about these fun ones and to show you a few that are currently on the market.
A SUMMER OUTFIT WITH PRINTED PANTS: THE FEATURE LOOK
These are from Addie’s Boutique, by a brand called Shana, which is one of her regular brands and the one I have purchased the most.
These are the PRINTED STRAIGHT PANT CIRCLES, and, yes, you can order from her website and she will ship.
The most important thing for me to style a summer outfit with printed pants is the fabric of the pant…it must be cool and comfy.
These are 80% rayon, and 20% nylon…and they are very cool and comfy.
Pants like this for a summer outfit are such a great alternative to the heavier denim in most jeans.
I first saw them on Sandy, one of the blog followers who lives in Abilene, and fell for them then.
They are longer on Sandy because of the height difference, but I do not mind an ankle pant for a summer outfit.
Both Sandy and I went with solid navy on top. My blouse is an oldie but goodie from Tuckernuck.
So far, I seem to always style printed pants with a solid color on top and I knew I could do that easily with these…do you see the touch of coral in the print…that is one of my new signature colors, so I have those tops as well as navy.
I chose one of my long necklaces with a round medallion to go with the circles in the pants.
A SUMMER OUTFIT WITH PRINTED PANTS: CHICO’S PRINTED PANTS
There are many fun ways to style a summer outfit with printed pants, so let’s start at Chico’s for inspiration.
These are the PRINTED SILKY SOFT PANTS….I love that they have brown in the print.
For my summer outfit, if I owned these I would still style them with a solid color on top, but the matching sets are very much in style.
These are the TRAVELERS PRINTED KNIT WIDE LEG PANTS…and do not be fooled by the color, it is called Dusty Olive (not gray or silver).
It does come in petite and misses sizes.
This summer outfit could easily go into early fall.
These are the PRINTED CROPPED STRAIGHT LEG PANTS in an ecru based print.
These also come in petite.
A SUMMER OUTFIT WITH PRINTED PANTS: TALBOTS PRINTED PANTS
Now, let’s head over to Talbot’s for summer outfit ideas with printed pants.
These are for you lovely winter palette ladies.
They are the STRAIGHT ANKLE PULL-ON WASHED LINEN PANTS.
Here we have an easy, breezy summer outfit. These are not my colors, but they do look very cool.
These are also STRAIGHT ANKLE PULL ON PANTS.
Many printed pants just say vacation or cruise to me, though I do wear them other places as I did with the feature outfit today.
These are the Talbot’s WIDE CROP WASHED LINEN PANTS in a medallion print of white and green.
I like these pants a lot and believe they work not only for summer outfits, but also for fall.
I would style them with an off white or brown top…but green and yellow would not be off the table. I could see them with a cute off white denim jacket too.
Talbots says the official colors in the print are cafe, cornsilk, lime citron, derry green, olive grove and pale green (pale sagebrush)….I do see a brown in there too.
These are the WIDE LEG WASHED LINEN PANTS...and I am going to watch them through the sales. Lots of good comments on this pant.
A SUMMER OUTFIT WITH PRINTED PANTS: BLAST FROM THE PAST
Here is a printed pant outfit from my way, way past…back when I thought I was a winter, and back when I had shorter hair.
I thought I would show you that I have worn and loved printed pant outfits for a very long time. I have also been a Chico’s customer for about 30 years! Yikes!
And, I want to use this picture to invite you to a special post tomorrow…you will just need to show up to see what I mean.
Thank you for joining me for today’s summer outfit with printed pants. Are there any other printed pant fans out there. I will wear my new ones from Addie’s often…..until tomorrow….
KEEP SMILING!!

Good morning Pam. I’m not a fan of printed pants; I prefer the style and sophistication of pants without the prints.
I’m a fan of neutrals with an understated look, with the addition of an accessory or two to make the outfit interesting. It’s a reminder we all have different preferences. Because I am small (5’4″ 112 lb), the understated look is more flattering for me and matches the classic, polished look that matches my style of projecting confidence and put together.
Carole
The printed circle pants look FAB on you!!
I am a fan of printed pants and jeans. When I see a print I love, I buy it, wear it & enjoy it.
I just checked my closet … I have one pair of striped pants and one pair of striped shorts, and I seldom wear the shorts. I got a good chuckle out of this … if I see just the right print, I might someday up my game. They do have an ease about them, and I love the vacay feel, even though I don’t think overall they fit well into my style adjectives. I also have been experimenting with tabletop dressing for my part time job as a substitute high school teacher. A huge work wardrobe is no longer justified, and I struggle to pair it down. Focusing on tops has helped with that. At home, it’s pretty much jeans or athletic pants, and I absolutely, positively do not have the confidence to wear printed athletic pants!
This is why I love style adjectives…we can all dress to be uniquely individually us. Printed pants fit my own style adjectives perfectly which are polished, creative, approachable, current, and joyful. Your adjectives are classic, sophisticated, elegant, simple…and that is great…perfect for you.
They are fun for the right person, Jude. Thanks for joining in.
I guess I do…my favorite pair of athletic pants are a printed pant, but they are a heavier fabric for cooler weather. It is important that you speak your style adjectives. If something is outside of those adjectives then you do not need to go there…avoid upping your game outside of your adjectives, the pieces will sit in your closet like that one pair of pants and shorts have.
I also love a printed pant! They look gorgeous on you Pam. I also love, love your short hair. Very stylish!
Perfection for Pamela. You have certainly ticked off your boxes with circles, no less. The navy was the perfect neutral to wear with your creative pants. The medallion echos the prints and brings the viewer right back up to your smiling face. Love the bag and shoes. The black was a lovely outfit- just not the best color for warm you. What a difference! Happy last day of June.
Pam, had to laugh as I sit here in my Tyler Boe PRINTED PANTS. I love printed pants, I have several and they make me feel like I show my personality. I think they are very flexible as well. You can easily dress up with a change in shoe or top. I have always enjoyed printed pants and maybe even more so now that I am in my sixties!
They look so good on you. I love them too.
Thanks Kelley..I tried short hair for awhile, but it just is not me. I am more confident and more myself in longer hair.
It was difficult for me to let go of black in the beginning, but when I began to see the difference in my complexion, it was a no brainer to accept the change. I do love navy blue and so happy to have it in my closet as a foundational neutral. Thanks Deborah!
They do show off my personality and my creative bent. I love them too. Thanks Kim.
Thanks Sandy! They are fun. You are a great role model.
Pam,
You look so cute in your outfit with the printed pants. I love that you had the vision for pulling that look together. Well done! It’s elegant and fun at the same time.
Thanks Cindy! It’s fun to wear!
I do have pants in my wardrobe that have a muted design at 5’3” that always suited me. But something possessed me this spring and I bought a pair of Palazo pants with big bold splashes of color hinting at floral. I’ve worn them four times in the last month absolute joy wearing them. I’m linking this to your color pairings and getting my colors done. Color analysis has given me such color courage.
Doesn’t it Suzi! Since I discovered I am a spring, I have had more color courage as well with colors I previously scoffed over. So glad you love your palazzo pants.
Those pants in the first two pictures look nice on you. I have been hesitant to wear pants that are not a solid color. But I really like the ones from Addies.
Maybe I’ll give it a try.
If they meet your style adjectives, Paula, then I encourage you to step out and give a pair a try. It is a fun way to enjoy your summer style.
What a fun, inspiring post! Love when you and readers share snippets of family gatherings and special moments, especially for those of us without family or pets. Pam, you look exceptional in the print pants–so spirit brightening! Today I’m wearing Chico’s black & white print ankle pants with white V-neck tunic. I live in a Scottsdale condo where year round is resort casual. I see no jeans or denim. Bloggers remind me to focus on proportion (2/3 to 1/3) and on color contrast (subtle vs stark). I’d love more on this topic. I continue to refine my adjectives. My style, wardrobe–even home decor–as a single woman late 70s is sleek, minimalist, natural fibers, sophisticated, statement accessories, quality vs quantity. Think Eileen Fisher relaxed sophisticated style for retiree, at lesser price. To all in this supportive, life-enhancing community, enjoy a beautiful week!
What a sweet comment! I will write down your requests and so glad that you participated today.
I have the black pants with the gold circles. I like them. But I would like your suggestion for a different colored top. Sunshine yellow? Thank you.
Printed pants are fun. You look so summery and fun in your circle print pants and navy top. You are right you could wear a salmon peachy color top with those pants. My printed pants are stripes. I have a set of blue and white striped gauze which I love. It is from Old Navy! It is cool and breezy looking and feeling. At 5’1” the crops are full length pants on me but I prefer that. I’m trying to grow out a pixie cut as I prefer a little longer hairstyle. This is ruff letting it grow out. I wear hats when out. It is a very easy style to care for but it doesn’t fit my personality so at 80, I growing it out. I really loved the dusty olive pant set. I think with summer slightly sun kissed skin I could wear that warmer color. I love rayon linen blends, they are so soft and very cool to wear.
Through many wardrobe mistakes, I’ve found that I like the idea of printed pants better than I actually like wearing them. I buy them and then donate them in the next closet purge. Much of that probably has to do with body image issues; I can hear my mother scolding me that “dark, solid colors are much more slimming.” I did buy a printed pair of cropped knit pants from JJill recently in a tropical print that features my best colors, and plan to wear them with solid color tops, as the print top/bottom outfits look too much like pajamas to me. I think I’ll feel like I’m on vacation wearing them, even if I’m just running errands around town. I love the looks Pam and Sandy put together with the print pants from Addie’s and appreciate all the good options you’ve found for those who embrace this look.
I think a pretty red…or red…or gold…or even a white or creamy off white would look nice.
Thanks for sharing, Sydney!
Always consider fit first. I have print pants that are more slimming on me than a solid color because of the fit. Of course, a solid pant or dark jean with great fit is golden!
The print pants from Addies are so cute on you. I hope you model them paired with the coral top. Coral is one of my favorite colors especially in the summer. I wear printed pants in the summer too. I think they are fun and I find wearing a print in pants or a skirt easier for me than wearing a printed top. Possibly because I like to wear distinctive artist made jewelry which can get lost on a printed top. I tried the Chico’s printed straight leg pants. They are cute & well made but they are a heavier weight than I expected. I thought they ran about a size large. Speaking of Chico’s, I drove past the building that housed Chico’s and Talbot’s the other day. There were crews working inside, replacing the walls. I was told the water was up to the ceiling. Many buildings in the area are still boarded up after more that 9 months but a few businesses have opened.
So sad…and I am sure frustrating that it takes so long to rebuild. I heard the same thing about the California fires…rebuilding at a snail’s pace.
I wonder if someday we will see Chico’s & Talbots under one store front now that one company owns them. Thanks for sharing, Kathie about the pants too!
I have added printed pants to my wardrobe since I retired and moved to a very warm, resort type of town in Southern California. A good friend who is doing physical therapy after back surgery showed up at a volunteer committee meeting in a bright green breezy tee and abstract printed capri leggings; she apologized for her attire just having come from therapy. She looked fabulous and we all told her so! She inspired me to up my exercise wear with cheerful colors and happy prints! You look great in those pants from Addies!
