Sunday Reflections
Happy Sunday, friends! Welcome to Sunday Reflections!
Sunday Reflections is a weekly lifestyle post where I “reflect” on what has been going on in my world…and briefly look at the week ahead.
Today finds me reflecting on all of the beauty around us….there is beauty in almost every setting, if we just look for it.
I spent my teenage years in West Texas, and surrounded by cynical teens who were often scoffing at the dry, flat scenery of this part of the state.
But since my return, I am able to find beauty all around me…particularly in the sky.
If I walk outside, and stand for a moment, I will begin to see the beauty of a cardinal on the birdbath, the brilliant flowers of the season, and the glorious sunrises and sunsets.
Mr. B brought home flowers one day last week, and their color and brilliance has mesmerized me every morning.
These have lasted longer than most fresh flowers I have owned in months.
And there are few things more beautiful than my grandchildren.
This one is now on the throne as royalty in England, and he toured much of London in his regalia.
I have shared before how much this one loves to dress up.
And yesterday, I lived beauty through the eyes of my daughter….
SUNDAY REFLECTIONS: FASHION AT THE LOUVRE
According to Smithsonian Magazine, the Louvre opened it’s first Fashion Exhibition this past February.
Jess was able to experience it last week in Paris, and she sent so many incredible examples of beauty and creativity from the top fashion houses.
I am not sure what had me in awe more…the fashions or the settings. I have stared at this last photo for so long….breathtaking.
And found my reflections turning to the ceiling and walls.
In this last picture, look how they placed the dress on a round mirror….which shows this ceiling is also a stunner.
The shoe is beautiful, but looking at it after the past two weeks, I have no desire to try on anything like this.
Another example of how we can mess up our feet later in life with early emotional decisions.
The photos Jess sent were amazing, but, of course, Mona is still the star of the show!
And there for anyone with a simple, minimalist fashion sense.
SUNDAY REFLECTIONS: THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER
For some, looking at a museum is exhausting…but for others, like me, looking at the Louvre exhibit was a shot of energy.
I loved the beauty from the entire exhibit and so thankful she took me along.
Most of us may not be in Paris or going this summer, but there is beauty all around…look for it…you will find it there.
SUNDAY REFLECTIONS: VERSE OF THE WEEK
I began my Sunday Reflections on this verse yesterday during prayer time.
He is answering the recent desires of my heart and I will write more about it tomorrow as I share an answer to prayer.
Enjoying the beauty around us is one way to delight ourselves in the Lord…He is a master creator.
I hope you will join me in reflection of this verse every day this week.
Thank you for joining me…and the king…for Sunday Reflections and a quick visit to Paris…let me know if you have any questions or comments….until tomorrow…
KEEP SMILING!!

I love Psalm 37 – thanks for starting my Sunday off with such a good word. I love seeing your grandson in his royal regalia! Mine also loves to dress up and I’m always trying to find affordable costumes for him. I’m going to turn my mama’s cedar chest into storage for dress-up clothes in their playroom in my new home, and hope to spark all their imaginations by having lots of costumes on hand. Thank you for sharing the beautiful fashion and museum photos with us. I especially love the dress on the mirror. Such grandeur and beauty, but I also love the more simplistic beauty of your west Texas sky photo and the flowers Mr. B brought you. We are s0 blessed to have our eyesight and hearing, even if our feet are failing us.
Gorgeous post, Pam. So much beauty everywhere. I visited the Louvre last year. Stunning. Have a beautiful Sunday!
Yes, I am thankful for so much today. Blessings!
You as well, Marcia!
I am always a looker for beauty in small places like a tiny flower growing in the grass or even an unusual fungi on bricks. The scientist in me is so aware of nature and it’s ever changing palettes. This is one reason I enjoy my afternoon cemetery walks because I’m so aware of the different cloud formations and often a gorgeous sunset. We are fortunate to live close to our five grandchildren but as they are now all but one in college we do not see them as much as when they were little and we picked them up from school. The dress up days are over, but I remember the fun they had in my closet. Your little one looks so cute and appropriate in his setting among those gorgeous rooms. Such details everywhere you look! My Mr. B has started insisting we have live flowers in the house so like your Mr. B, we now buy flowers every week or so…always uplifting. Enjoyed the pictures of the dresses displayed in the palace. So beautiful.
Thank you for the lovely post. My children used to dress up and that brought back memories. Clothes for super heroes and my old prom dresses were neighborhood favorites. The Louvre exhibit is lovely. I was lucky to see John Singer Sargent’s exhibit paired with clothing of his sitters in London last spring. Exquisite. There is beauty everywhere, especially in nature. Skies are everywhere and free for the viewing! Have a lovely day.
Good morning Pam,
This morning I’ve been reflecting on how much it pleases God to delight us. There’s an oak tree right outside my kitchen window. The way our house is situated, it’s like living in a treehouse. He knows us so intimately and plans good things to encourage our days. I also think it makes God happy for us to notice and appreciate them.
Praying for your continued healing. Have a great week!
Gorgeous sky photo. You are so right about appreciating the beauty all around us. Its there. We just need to look for it. How lovely that Mr. B brought you those pretty flowers. Hope your family continues to enjoy their exciting vacation. Thank you for sharing Jess’s photos. And thank you for this week’s Psalm. It fits my situation. In the past week I’ve learned that our much loved pastor has been reassigned and someone new will be coming to our parish. Then my yoga instructor announced that she is moving. Her practice is unique and has helped me in so many ways. These are not changes I would have chosen so I need to put my trust in God.
Thanks for sharing where you find beauty, Celia.
Yes…the skies are free for the viewing and often put on the best shows…so thankful. Thanks Deborah
Love, love, love your words Cindy! God is the giver of all good gifts and does love to please his children. Blessings!
Learning to live with changes has been my greatest struggle in the second half of life. It began with the school where I worked…then on to our pastors…our city changing dramatically…then on to friends moving…then me moving…it has been a challenge but has kept me very close to God. I will pray for you Kathie and remember to pray without ceasing.
Hi Pam,
Beauty is all around us isn’t it? Like the cheerful flowers that Mr. B. brought you last week. It’s the little things that mean so much in life. My husband brought me roses from our garden this morning. Our roses are all protected with sail shades because of our intense heat in Phoenix. Tomorrow is supposed to be 104!
Fashion at the Louvre that you shared is incredibly beautiful. Yes, Mona is the star of the show. Your grandson is full of life, and fun he likes to dress up. Love his spirit.
Happy Sunday.
Thank you, Katherine! Roses to start your day…amazing. This grandson is full of spirit and creativity…he is a joy…as all eight are! Love them so.
What a wonderful adventure your Jess has chosen to share with her family! Early travels create curious kids, and that’s a great blessing.
In our small corner of Oregon, my lavender is in full display and the daisies have just begun their spectacular show. June is extra special because of these unfolding gifts in the garden, the coolness of mornings, and the buzzing about of bees and hummingbirds. I am grateful and humbled by God’s generous handiwork.
You always describe life in a way I can see it, Connie. What a lovely depiction of beauty.
That Psalm is a good one for me right now. I hope to try to read it throughout the week.
In the beginning of your post you mentioned how beautiful things seem to look to you now. I have been realizing the same thing. I am enjoying the countryside around me and just other things I see that are beautiful. I guess as we grow older we take the time to realize the world around us.
The first picture is very nice. Very calming.
I love your grandson pictures! Mine are all mature adults with families of their own. They are spread across our beautiful country. The skies are especially beautiful with the fluffy clouds setting above the mountains. Our valley town is very green right now from all of the daily rain in the late afternoons. I’m enjoying the windows open right now with the soft warm breezes. Thank you for the vicarious travel to the Louvre. I’ve never been to France. I’m hoping that Jess and family continue to enjoy their travel. Continue to feel better Pamela.
Thank you for sharing your daughter’s photos from Paris. I will go back and look at them several times there is so much to enjoy.
The scripture today was an encouragement to me.
Very enjoyable post, Pam!
Made me remember this:
“Getting Dressed in Renaissance Florence Italy” https://youtu.be/izFfk-5z3J0
Wait for it, wait for it………she’s not as minimalistic as we suppose…..
Thank you for sharing your daughter’s photos. What a joy to see your grandson in his regal attire, & kudos to your daughter for allowing him to be himself. I loved the gorgeous black & white dress. Such beautiful detail! God does provide us with so much beauty in the world around us. I appreciate your sharing of scripture with us each week. My table group is getting ready to embark on a brief study of six Psalms, & I’m hoping Psalm 37 will be among them. Here’s to a good week for all!
I love all of the pictures of somewhere I’ll never go. Your grandson is adorable!
Thank you, Paula. I believe each land has a beauty all its own!
I love it when we can open the windows. Enjoy those cool breezes!
I will be reading that Psalm every day this week! Thanks Audrey…and I also will look at those pictures often.
Made me smile, Ruth!
Psalms is such a wonderful study! Enjoy Becky!
Thank you, Katherine. He entertained us all the time!
