Would You Wear It?
Happy first day of summer, everyone! Welcome to the second installation of a revived WOULD YOU WEAR IT?
We tried a new start-up of Would You Wear It? last Friday…and it went well. You can read that WYWI POST here.
Just a reminder, when commenting, please explain with an honest evaluation of why this outfit does or does not work for YOU.
Do not answer with one word…Yes or No…but explain…in a way that helps others have understanding.
You may point out a perspective on an outfit that someone hasn’t seen or thought of before, and It becomes helpful to them.
Just avoid insulting the outfit in a way that also insults a woman who likes it.
Everyone did great last week…so let’s keep it going and find out…Would You Wear It?
WOULD YOU WEAR IT?: THE FEATURE DISPLAY
I think this fashion display by designer Vince Camuto caught my attention because of the colors.
This is not the typical color palette for summer clothing, so I believe it is interesting to see what you think of the colors and the designs.
In case you want to read more about the clothes, here are these links:
VINCE CAMUTO Printed Crew Neck Short Sleeve Caftan Blouse
VINCE CAMUTO Leaf Print Wide Leg Ankle Coordinating Pants
VINCE CAMUTO Woven Abstract Print V-Neck Sleeveless Printed Midi Dress
Now, if this was designed in a colors that were in my SPRING PALETTE, I would try them on.
The design of the dress could be very flattering, but, for me, I would need a topper or wrap of some sort…it is very low cut.
On the pant outfit, the size of the fronds might be a problem…but I would want to try it on to see.
WOULD YOU WEAR IT?: FROM THE COLLECTION
Both of the issues I mentioned…the low cut bodice and the size of the fronds…are removed from this dress and in the same collection.
Again, for me, I would need a different color scheme.
But what about you?
Also, in this collection are these cute sandals some of you may want to check out…but sizes seem to be going fast.
These are the VINCE CAMUTO Darna Leather Platform Espadrilles.
It is your turn, ladies!
Look over and comment on anything here or all, but inform us in a thoughtful way….WOULD YOU WEAR IT?
Hope to see you tomorrow for the 2025 fashion trends…until then…
KEEP SMILING!!

Good morning! If dress number three was not in black, but another fall color, I would order that in a heartbeat! Wow. I love it. I am not at my best in prints, but these prints are so sedate compared to the first two: the fern on the side and just the print around the hem. I love it, but not black. A brown would have had me in a second. I would love to try dress two for the fun of it, but I know it would overwhelm my body. I would just love to see how it hangs. Dress number one really presents me with why I seldom wear a bold print. I would be uncomfortable with placement of the ferns. They would accent my bust-line which I usually try to subdue, especially now that my back has broadened. The ferns on the bottom would be pointing to my crotch which would make my modest side uncomfortable. The past two years have shown midi skirts with a deep front slit which always look odd on me. I finally realized that I enjoy a short side slit for that reason. I don’t mind showing a bit of leg, but in a less obvious area. I would love to see someone with a bold personality and the right body type in style number one wearing it with confidence and not thinking twice about it!
Good Morning Pam,
I would not be able to wear the first pictured dress for the same reasons you cited, but the second dress with a topper in a summer pallet color has my name on it. The colors in the dress lends itself a wide variety of color for toppers. I would not be able to wear the pants as I just don’t do prints in pants, however the top, is a yes with again a topper in a summer pallet to off set the black. If I saw someone with the pants/top outfit on in public, I would think, great outfit! I am pining for those shoes, which I would have worn in my pre foot issue days. Have a great day.
Definitely not…style is fine , the print is awful. Why would you put a band to accent the widest part of your body. And the fronds to make you look like a feather dancer. Not well thought out.
Both outfits are eye catching, but I’m petite and would be swallowed up in those prints. So no for me.
I would try the 2nd dress. I like the simplicity of it.
Thanks for starting us off today, Deborah. I like number three as well..there are so many designs I would wear if they were not in black!
Thanks Betty! I know that some women will sew that plunging neckline so it is not so plunging, but I have would rather avoid the extra work! It is such a great design though.
Thanks for joining in, Kat.
Thanks Carole!
The first two look like very cheap cruise wear. The colors would be fine as solids. Who in their right mind laid out those prints?
Well…..my first thought is NO. I have a small frame, and these bold styles would overwhelm me. Then I decided to get creative. I might try the No. 1 top with a black or cream midi skirt. No. 2 is too revealing, but I would try it with a black short sleeve buttonup light cardigan. This would make it look like a skirt. What a fun exercise!
I think this color combination is a sophisticated look for summer and these outfits are striking. I would not wear either of these first two outfits: the print motifs are too large for my small frame and the contrast level is too high for my comfort. I like the cut of the pants outfit but the ferns draw attention to where I don’t want it. I like the bands of color at the hem so without the ferns and in brown rather than black I’d wear it. I would not feel comfortable at all wearing a halter dress. The style of the third dress really appeals to me. I like the simple shape of the sheath and the placement of the prints at the bottom of the dress away from any body parts I don’t want emphasized. If it was coffee brown instead of black and offered in petite sizing I’d be headed to Dillard’s to try it on.
I would not wear either outfit because:
1. I’m avoiding black and deep colors. They overwhelm me.
2. The prints are too bold for me. I’d feel
Like the outfits were wearing me.
3. As a woman with an “Apple” shape, the details in the tummy area of both outfits draw attention to where I least want it. Attention needs to go “up” or “down” for me- not “middle.”
I hope that women who love this style and find the colors work for them enjoy these outfits.
I would not wear the first outfit. The proportions of shorter pants and boxy silhouette would not flatter me, and the band of color at the waist would emphasize my tummy. The second outfit is very interesting and my shoulders and back are things I feel pretty confident about. The print is likely too large and strong for me, and “very low cut,” which I trust you on, Pam, is not my vibe. Adding a shrug would not look good on this dress, just messing with the line of the piece and adding more to what, to my eye, is already a very dramatic outfit. Now, the last dress is perfection, and wow, yes, would I wear it. Just as styled, it’s beautiful, but it could be great with many other shoes as well. It would make such a lovely wedding guest outfit, and with a linen or denim topper could go to church or lunch. The colors are in my wheelhouse and I love them.
Now that’s a print I could get behind! I love bold geometrics, but never florals. I would wear dress 3 in a minute in a different color palette , and would try dress 2, even though it is a halter back. Showing arms and shoulders is not a problem for me and I much prefer this to that slit arm car wash style that was so popular years ago. I have a black, brown and white geo print sheer top I wear as a topper and it is 15 years old!
Actually, Helen…designer Vince Camuto did. I want to encourage you to keep your comments with women who may like these designs in mind. Perhaps say…these prints do not appeal to me because I believe they make the dress look cheap. When you say something like who in their right mind…you may be offending someone in this audience. Look at Susan BK and how she commented…that is more constructive. Thanks for understanding. I want to keep doing this, but only if it does not get ugly.
Thanks for creative thinking, Marcia.
I agree with what you assess here, Kathie.
Excellent comment, Susan…I like how you set it up and kept it personal.
Like you, the colors are not ideal for me. The halter dress would be a definite no as it would not flatter and I would be uncomfortable. The tank dress I would definitely try on as the print is near the bottom – however, I am petite, so this is not likely to work for me. The pants and top look comfortable and elegant, but the print does not appeal and draws attention to places that I would not want to draw attention to. It this were in a solid or a different smaller print and different colors, I would consider.
I would NOT wear the first outfit becuse I simplydont wear pants. The second outfit that appears to be a dress I wouldn’t wear only because I’ve been on HemoDialysis for the last 30 years so both of my arms are scared with track looking marks so people ar afrid when they see them. I do wear shot sleeves in hor weathe but I’mjust not confident enouh to er a Halter Top
As a woman with a small chest I’d stay away from #1 dress b/c it’s made for more chest than I possess.
If the dress was made of cotton material, which would probably immediately price me out of buying it, I’d look on the racks for pants or shorts in the striped material the #1 dress bodice and a short sleeved top made from the material in the skirt of #1 dress.
I think I look better in bottoms that have a strong vertical orientation and since I have a small chest I like tops with a big print.
Thanks so much, Pat.
Natalie, Thank you for being so honest with your situation. I think in the second half of life, many of us have those challenges that require wardrobe adjustments…but it is usually for our comfort and confidence. Which is really the most important thing. Blessings to you!
Thanks Rose!
I actually like the dress and I might wear it if it had a more halter top/bodice. I really can’t see me wearing the two more graphic outfits as I’m petite ; I would feel overwhelmed though I usually like halter tops. If only I were taller!
I am sure you are perfect in every way…thanks for being here Paulette!
The color is not in my palette and the fronds would accent my larger bust. I do wear the flowing style of the pant set just not in that color way. I like dress number 2 and just bought a blue with fine dark blue stripes that is cut very similar. I’m a cool light summer and never wear black. I’m petite at 5’1” but have lost my tiny waist. I have a palm printed shades of blue and green knit halter dress that is a maxi on me. It definitely needs a topper in cold restaurants!
These are a no for me. They would not be flattering to my particular body shape, nor do they fit my primary adjectives of simple & classic. I could definitely see some family members & friends wearing them as they are very bold & fashion forward.
Even though others see too much black, I see too much gold, orange, ivory for my palette. I also would have to eliminate them because I would need to shorten them and they have bottom borders. Unless you can take off the whole border, outfits with them never look right if you shorten them part way.
Hello Pamela…I’m a day late🤣
The artistry of the outfits on the mannequins is just art, I wouldn’t actually wear the outfits due to the overwhelming size of the ferns. I’m petite and would be very drawn to the simpler dress in a navy with a mauve and white and deep pink print design at the hem. Someone much taller may be able to carry off wearing the top outfits if they have the right skin tone. 🥰
