Sunday Reflections

Happy glorious Sunday, friends! Thank you for joining me for Sunday Reflections.
This is a time I typically spend with you for a lifestyle post called Sunday Reflections...I reflect on happenings from the last week and sometimes on the week ahead.
However, at the conclusion to today’s post, I am going to share with you a little different plan going forward.
I could call today Sunday Reminders…because I am going to remind you of some important life points for this wonderful month of October.
So, let’s get cozy and spend a little time with my Sunday Reflections.
SUNDAY REFLECTIONS: REMEMBER YOUR CHECKUPS

I know…she’s cute isn’t she?
Most of you are aware that this is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and I was in this past week for my mammogram.
This is not something I enjoy doing, but I know it is so important that I do it.
I always spend the time waiting to pray for family and friends who are battling breast cancer.

The word HOPE jumped out at me in the waiting room. I do have hope that those near me will be survivors.
It breaks my heart that people I love have had to go through breast cancer. But, I am holding on to hope for them.
Use this time as a reminder to go get any lab checkups that you need. I will find out soon the results of the mammogram, the bone scan, and my blood tests.
SUNDAY REFLECTIONS: REMEMBER TO GET UP AND GO OUT

Though it is still toasty here, the over 100 degree weather is gone for now.
The air feels fresh…so I am determined to get out more…breathe deep…and enjoy the season.
Last weekend was the perfect time to go to our Texas countryside and experience a small touch of fall.
In a minute, I am going to talk about joy…get out of the house to enjoy life is part of experiencing joy.

It was also a good time for the grands to get outside while at my house.
This one loves to paint rocks…most of the younger grandchildren love rock painting.
So I set him up with paint, rocks and beautiful fall weather.

I love his penguin! It is now on my bookcase.
So creative…he also painted one rock with the Chic-fil-A logo; and another to look like a baseball…because Mr. B loves baseball.

I have worn both of my knit wide leg crop pants often so far. They are a good option for the heat.
I will probably wear them again tomorrow evening for Monday football…it can get a little warm out on the fields.
SUNDAY REFLECTIONS: REMEMBER JOY

I had to reminder myself of joy last week…of course, the clown nose helped!
There has been so much heaviness in the news lately that I decided I needed my joy back!
Here is how I get it:
- Start every day faithfully with devotion and prayer time…and in those prayers include specifics to be thankful for.
- Just think about one day at a time…tomorrow has enough worries of it’s own.
- Choose to experience things that make you smile…for me that is music and singing, going out, loving on family, watching a funny movie…CHOOSE AND CREATE YOUR OWN JOY LIST.
- And avoid the things that rob you of joy…for me that would be certain entertainment, too much social media, even some books, and comparing myself with others in a negative way.
- Finally, take care of your health. I am more joyful when I feel my best and know that I am making healthy choices.
Joy comes from deep inside and is a major part of us looking and feeling vibrant in the second half of life.
I do completely believe you need a relationship with the Lord to fully experience Joy.

This Scripture is perfect for our Sunday Reminders today…it reminds us to keep a smile and cheerful look on our faces in order to have joy in our hearts.
Plus, it reminds us to seek out good news over bad news. If the news is bringing you down, then turn it off and seek some good news.
Heavy news can cause worry and stress…which is harmful to our bones and health. So be aware of that while you are listening to it.
Now, here is some good news…I hope.
Beginning next Sunday, I am going to write a weekly devotional post every Sunday just for you. The entire post will be a devotion.
Then on Mondays, I will reflect on the past week and week ahead and it will be more like Sunday Reflections is now…occasionally a recipe, an outfit, a happening, etc.
So many are letting me know that they really enjoy the weekly Scripture, that I do believe God is leading me to expand that to a one day devotion…and if you really like it and want more…you can tell me.
For those not interested in a devotion, the Monday post will cover what I often do on this day.
Thank you for being here for Sunday Reflections…you are a blessing and give me JOY!
I hope to see you tomorrow for something fun…until then…
BE THANKFUL & KEEP SMILING!!

Yikes! hard pass on the religious stuff
Thank you for the reminder of ways to find joy and remove stress. It is something my family needed. Especially with the news in our world as you mentioned. Enjoy your family.
So glad to know of the devotion on Sunday. Praise the Lord!
Have a day full of blessings, Brenda!
I am looking forward to this as well. Thanks for being here, Linda!
Thank you. I will look forward to the Sunday devotions.
Hi, sweet Nothings….no religious stuff here. Jesus did not even like religion. I hope to encourage everyone to develop a personal relationship with the God who created them. If you feel drawn to stop by on Sundays that is because I am praying for you! Hopefully see you the rest of the week.
looking forward to next Sund
Good for you for getting your mammogram and reminding others to do so. As a breast cancer survivor self exams and mammograms are very important. Have any lump you feel checked out!!
I really like your idea of the devotions. It is something I need right now and forever. Looking forward to the devotions.
It’s always wonderful when a friend shares a devotional. I will look forward to having yours on Sunday mornings. Thanks for sharing with all of us who believe.
And looking forward to having you here!
Praise God you are a survivor, Paula…thanks for sharing!
A very time-full post Pamela, thank you. Right now I’m working hard to keep stress at bay. I’m on a fairly tight deadline for a major show and circumstances are keeping me out of the studio. We needed help with some work we need done and so while I am very thankful for the man who has come to help us the timing couldn’t be much worse. So I trying to concentrate on thankfulness and how nice it will be when all these little problems are fixed and I can get back to the work I that gives me joy. Each week your scripture verse gives me focus so I am excited about your new devotional Sunday posts. Lately my prayer life has been in a dry spell. I know it happens and the only thing to do is to persist.
I feel very led to do this for all of us and for any who question. Love that you will be here!
I love your spiritual encouragement to enhance my walk through this world with Jesus. I admire you for sharing the Gospel in this format.❤️
One day at a time, Kathie. As God to select what is on your plate today and got before you to help you have strength and guidance for it. I will be praying for you too.
Thank you for the encouragement, Melinda. God said…it is time.
Your brand of Christianity is so much more liberal than mine. I do not want to be influenced in that way. I will have to skip Sundays.
That is fine…I follow a living, real, loving God…he wants to love you too. So I will add you to my prayer list right now and be happy to see you on the other days!
Looking forward to the new Sunday/Monday format!
Pam, you’re blessed in your spiritual gift of encouragement/exhortation [Romans 12:6-8]. Your blog blends mind, body and spirit…and emphasizes seeking joy despite circumstances. Love your flexibility in assessing audience preferences and moving forward confidently!
Bless you…and thanks so much for your encouragement.
Thanks Janet…so happy to have you along!
I follow Yvonne at Stonegable and enjoy her devotionals every Sunday. She is located in the Lancaster, PA area, I believe, and back in the early 1700’s my maternal ancestors were original German settlers there. I have visited the cemetery behind St. John’s Lutheran Church in Allentown where many of my ancestors are buried. I like to imagine the hardships they endured in order to practice their faith. I credit them for my steadfast belief in the Lord. Looking forward to reading your Sunday posts.
YESSS!!! This feels like a positive step forward.
I love hearing part of your story, Linda. Mr. B was raised in the Lutheran church and that is where we met. We married in Concordia Lutheran in San Antonio. Our story began there. Texas is full of German influence and history. I am excited to have you here.
I agree, Connie. I desire for all of us to be our best inside and out.
Looking forward to the new format.
So am I…thanks Cathy!
As a non practicing Jew, I feel that at 80 I have a very spiritual connection with God. I hope there is room at the table for me on Sunday. I’m not sure I know what a devotional is so I will be there to try it. I do know that your joy comes from your relationship with your faith. You are a woman that I feel is a friend. I’m here everyday on the blog and enjoy your uplifting family stories, shopping with your daughter and just hearing about your life. Of course I enjoy the fashion discussion and try ons. If it was just fashion and selling products I wouldn’t be here. You are a very real and honest woman that I enjoy with my tea every morning. If the devotion doesn’t work for me, I will just be here the rest of the week with respect.
Your new plan for Sunday and Monday sounds wonderful, Pam. Thank you!
You are so welcome, Marcia!
Sydney…there is room at the table for all and I would want you at my table! We are friends and I love to have tea with you! Come try out the devotions and see what you think!
Count me in on your new Sunday format, Pam. You can’t please all of the people all of the time, but I sense that there are many of us who appreciate your devotionals. I’m a practicing Catholic who embraces all Christian faiths and looks forward to your Sunday guidance.
Thank you Yvette! So happy to have you join in.
I had my mammogram last month. You’re right that it isn’t a pleasant experience but a necessary one none the less.
There are so many joy stealers in our world today & so many people who seem joyless. I try to smile at all I encounter each day in hope of spreading a bit of joy. I love the idea of creating a joy list for fall & perhaps continuing it for each new season.
I’m looking forward to your devotional next week.
Thanks for sharing today, Becky! Glad you are here.
I am looking forward to the Sunday devotions!
I am looking forward to your Sunday devotional. Like Sydney H, I love the variety in your posts. So many bloggers just push more clothes or other products. Your approach makes me much more likely to use one of your links when I do need to make a purchase. Please share your bone scan results—I’m eager to know if OsteoStrong workouts made a difference. I really don’t want to start medication yet. My last DEXA scan was better than the first after I increased D3 and calcium and added Vitamin K2 but there is always room for improvement.
Thanks Joyce!
I take those supplements as well, Kate. I am happy to share when I see the results…and just as curious as you are! So glad to have you join on Sundays!
I am a practicing Catholic as well and appreciate those such as yourself that have a strong Faith.
And I appreciate you, Mary.
I look forward to your new Sunday format, Pam. Thank you!
Thank you, Jen!
I’m looking forward to the Sunday devotion. Thank you.
You are so welcome, Deanna.
I too am looking forward to your Sunday devotional. Thank you.
I will enjoy reading your devotional.
So glad you will join us, Ruth!
