Weekly Devotion: Focus Relationship

Blessed Sunday to all….today is the Weekly Devotion: Focus Relationship.
There is so much happening in the world today. It can be frightening.
Oftentimes, we have no idea of where all of this is going Will we be safe? Will our family be safe?
The spiritual battle around and beneath all of the chaos is intensifying daily with so many false prophets and false religions yelling into microphones to be heard.
This is why it is beneficial to look to the shepherd boy, David and learn from his journey.
David did not rely on going to church or memorizing prayer books or any religious activity (which do have value).
He spent hours, upon hours, alone with God and his sheep.
David’s strength was founded on one thing…he focused on his relationship with God.
WEEKLY DEVOTION: FOCUS RELATIONSHIP – THE SHEPHERD

David did not have phones or computers to take his focus off of his Lord.
But, he did have a harp…and he sang psalms to God out in a lonely field.
As he focused on God’s Word and his actual relationship with His Father, he grew in strength, wisdom, and courage.
We all know that our most precious human relationships took time to develop and grow.
Getting to know God takes time…and David had a lot of it.
But his conversations with the Lord would eventually give him the strong faith to go up against Goliath and later Saul.
Because he knew that God is real, he knew God had his back.
God had his back in the pastures as he fought lions and bears away from the sheep. He had his back in all battles David faced with God going before him.
When writing about David, Pastor Chuck Swindoll writes,
“When we begin to care about the things God cares about, we become people after His heart, and only then do we begin to have real freedom and real happiness.”
Pastor Swindoll has been a key leader in my husband’s life.
WEEKLY DEVOTION: FOCUS RELATIONSHIP – GROW NEAR IN PSALMS

Since I began the weekly devotions, a few of you have asked where to begin in reading your Bibles.
There are many ways recommended to do this; however, I would like to have you start with reading the Psalms.
The most important thing we can do in this crazy life is to draw near to God and establish a living, breathing relationship with Him.
As David did.
Read the Psalms, pray without ceasing, and begin and end your day with God…that is a great way to start.
We focus on that relationship…the most important relationship…when we pray and read His Word daily.
Even if we do not face Goliaths, we can be the prayer support for those who do. God will speak to all of you individually if you just sit quite before Him and ask Him to speak to you.
The only way to discern the difference between good and evil these days is to know God.
Focus on that relationship.
Next week, I will give to you more ways to read His Word during the month of November.
Thank you for joining me for the weekly devotion.
See you tomorrow…..
