Friday Fashion Fun

Happy Friday, everyone.  Welcome to Friday Fashion Fun!

I began this recently and it does seem like we are having fun with these Friday Fashion Fun posts.

Allow me to begin with a big Thank You to our blog friend, Kathie.  I am wearing a scarf today that she sent me.

It is an autumn scarf with acorns and a touch of bling to it…I love it…and, Kathie, you are so thoughtful to have sent it my way.

Next, we will begin with a WOULD YOU WEAR IT? display.

You guys have been doing great with these displays and we are learning from one another.

If you are new here, when you look over a display and consider your answer to WOULD YOU WEAR IT? please say more than yes or no.

Did you say yes because it fits your style adjectives and would be happy in your closet and on you?  Did you say yes because you know immediately where you would wear it?  Did you say yes because you love the colors and design?

Now, did you say no, because it is not you at all…or does not flatter your body type…or is it is too youthful…or you would have no place to wear it?

Consider why you are answering the way you are…and this is where we help others to think through purchases.

Also, if you are new, you might read through the answers on these posts and see if that helps you in joining along:

Now, it is time to ask….WOULD YOU WEAR IT?

FRIDAY FASHION FUN – WOULD YOU WEAR IT?

fashion fun

This display caught my eye last week in a Fredericksburg boutique.

I do look for displays that might foster helpful comments for those who are in this blog community.

And this is the time of year, we do see many embellished sweaters on the market.

Remember, wide leg pants are still on trend.

Since it is a boutique, I have no links to help you out.

But, please look at the entire display from hat to pants.

Ladies, we really help one another when we point out certain things to consider when shopping.

Then, if you would like to also comment on this poncho, I discovered it at another boutique in Fredericksburg.

Notice also that these jeans are relaxed with a cuff at the bottom.  Think about if you would wear both pieces…the poncho and jeans….and remember to explain your answers.

Now go with me to this cozy little town as I ask…WOULD YOU WEAR IT?

FRIDAY FASHION FUN – EARLY BLACK FRIDAY

fashion fun

Both of the outfits I am wearing in this post are from this past week.

I am pointing out to you one simple V-neck tee shirt that I am wearing as a layering piece in both looks.

I have this tee in several colors and have owned and worn them for years.  They wash well (colors and fit stay good) and they feel great.  I do hang them up to dry.

I hope the quality has not changed over the years, because I do love to point you in the direction of these tees, and right now (through November 11) you can purchase one or more for $7.19 each...that is correct and amazing.

This is the ST. JOHN’S BAY WOMENS V NECK LONG SLEEVE T-SHIRT...and it comes in 23 Colors!  I am wearing the dark brown called Chocolate Chip.  And I do own several colors.

JCP’S BIGGEST SALE OF THE SEASON is on right now.  You must use the DISCOUNT CODE 2HONOR through November 11.

I am certain there will be more sales launching before Black Friday…I will do my best to stay on top of them.

Before I go this week, I want to thank FEEDSPOT for selecting me as # 3 on the list of 81 Top Blogs in 2026 for women over 50!

  1. Good morning Pam!
I enjoy seeing displays from local boutiques.
I do not care for either of these outfits, although I do like the hat! At 5 ft. 3 and 104 lbs. both of these outfits would swallow me whole. I like the color of the sweater, but I prefer something more fitted and without the bling. I also think the necklace detracts from the design on the sleeves. I have tried wide leg pants and found (for me) a slimmer cut is more flattering. I don’t think I would get much use from a poncho, and being a Summer, I wouldn’t wear the color brown. I like the light wash jeans, but not the wide legs and the seam below the knees. Hope you have a great day!

  2. Regarding the St John’s tee. Many years ago, you pointed us in that direction and I’ve worn them ever since. Terrific value, and I didn’t lament (much) when they got too big. In lighter colors, which show more lumps and bumps, I do size up from Talbots, whose tees I also wear. As for the displays, I’m on the fence about the sweater. I love the neckline, which shows collarbones (flattering for my full chest and shorter neck) and the length with the contrasting band on the bottom. The color is not my best and I think there might just be too much going on in this piece (size of elements, placement, sequins, texture). If someone bought it for me, I might wear it a time or two. I like the pants with it and they help make it more every day. The poncho is a hard no. They swallow me and my figure. I’ve tried on so many over the years, and I just look short and dumpy. I also don’t care for the style on me, as I prefer more structured clothing or an oversized sweater … the silhouette is boho at its core, which is my least favorite style on me and often feels like I’m wearing a costume. A you tuber I look at refers to clothing needing to feel “authentic” to you, and I think she’s on to something, as I do not feel authentic when I wear flowy pieces like this. If I did wear it, I would look for a slimmer jean to give the outfit some shape. That said, these jeans look promising … I like the wash and the seaming, and I would try them on to wear with something else.

  3. Thanks Linda! So glad the tees held up for you as well. They are great and thanks for joining in with Would You Well It!

  4. Good morning, thanks for the t link, so many beautiful colors! As for the outfits, I like the sweater and would wear that, minus the necklace that just detracts from the sweater, too much going on. As for the wide leg pants, I’m not following that trend and probably never will. They just make my slim legs look big, my legs are a great feature, I don’t like wearing the pointy shoes that people show with them either. As for the poncho, another no for me. I don’t enjoy the floppy feel and having to push the poncho around all of the time to reach and move and keep up with my busy life. I’ve tried them in the past and always push them back in the closet, so I now listen to myself while shopping.

  5. Congrats on the accolade! You are having a terrific week, my goodness. 🥳

Unfortunately, I would not wear that first outfit. The sweater, which looks quite my style if you remove the huge embellishments, is exactly what I enjoy. The contrasting color bands are a nice touch, but subtle. I have not gotten on board with this pant trend. The wide legs don’t flatter me. I don’t wear hats other than for sun protection at pools on vacation.
For look #2, half of a no. 😉 There is a lot going on with the top, and I favor simple, classic lines. The jean is cute, and I don’t currently have any light wash. I notice a tuck or something by the knees, which adds interest. I’d be open to trying these on, and I think the cuff lends a casual touch that would make these a fun choice to wear bowling, with a darling anklet sock peeking between the pant bottom and the old rented bowling shoes. 🎳

    Happy Friday! 🍁 💕

  6. At first glance I was attracted to the embellished sweater. The color looks different in each photo so its either grey or blue, both are winners for me. I like the contrasting solid band at the neckline. The big flower embellishments would be a bit of a stretch for me as a natural classic with polished, modern, creative, interesting and approachable as my adjectives. But the sweater hits all but the first. And while its not a style I’d reach for every day its the kind of item I used to wear to art openings when I lived up north. However, a closer look reveals dropped shoulders which look terrible on me, sleeves that are likely too long and what looks like sequins which I won’t wear. So in the end I probably would have tried it on and ruled it out. A hard no on wide pants. I’ve tried them and they do not flatter my 5’4″.
The poncho doesn’t appeal to me at all since I don’t wear brown and I don’t wear ponchos. I have plain red wool poncho and its going to consignment as I think I’ve worn it once to church in 3 years. The jeans are cute. The natural in me likes the wash, the cuffs and the seam at the knee. They are likely too wide for me but I’d try them on at least before dismissing them.
Glad you like the scarf. It looks great with your outfit.

  7. Interesting displays but a no for me for a few reasons. As a small chested and shoulders gal I find oversized sweaters like the gray one do nothing for me; it would not hang in a flattering way but instead look sloppy. Ponchos do the same on me; both of these styles need an upper body type with shoulders that can carry this look. Also I do not care for either of the embellishments. Living in a warm climate I would get very little wear out of these tops. As a hat wearer I own quite a few but not in this style; wide brims are very popular with the young ladies here in CA. Smaller brims like a fedora fit my smallish head better. I agree about the St. John’s tee shirts; I bought a number of the short sleeve this summer. The long sleeve are a good buy and I purchase them in seasonal colors for a lightweight accent under a vest or jacket.

  8. Thanks so much, Kathie! I do like the scarf…and so glad you shared your thoughts today.

  9. And happy Friday back, Connie. And I never thought to consider how something would look for bowling…how fun is that?!

  10. Thanks for explaining, Linda. I also have a few of the short sleeve tees from St. John’s. These tops are great ways to add color.

  11. I really like the second outfit. I like the sweater and the jeans. But I don’t think I like those colors together. The jeans seem to be more of a cool color and the sweater is warm. At least that’s what stands out to me. I would wear both items but not together.
Wow! Congratulations on being number 3 in that group!

  12. the pants in look #1 are a huge yes for me they look to be similar material to the cotton jeans I just bought which are so comfortable and I love the color, i would wear it for casual with a long sleeve and vest. The top in color as is would be a no, i dont wear much gray and drop sleeves look terrible on me, but I do like the whimsy of the decoration.

#2 the whole look is too rustic or boho for me, not sure of the word I’m searching for, the poncho is also too big overall and I like a more streamlined look. the pants I prefer to stay away from the light washes so they would also be a no.

  13. Congratulations, Pamela, on the #3 honor. We’ll deserved! Those JCP shirts are great! I have a red, white and black, and they hold up for years. Both outfits are cute, but I am small, and could not wear the embellished sweater or the poncho. I have embraced the wide leg jeans look and find they work well with the right proportion and shoes. So I would wear these, but might need to hem them. I’d pair them with a high hip length sweater and loafers. Happy weekend!!

  14. Congratulations on your #3 position win! I love your outfits today, you always are so inspiring in your choices. I have many JCP tees and love them. They hold up for years and the necklines don’t get all ruffled looking like I have found with other more expensive ones. The displayed outfits are wrong for me as I’m a small Summer. The colors and dimensions of the tops are wrong for true petites. I do wear wide leg jeans from Chicos as they fit well and are so comfortable which is number one for this 81 year old body. I prefer simple unembellished clothes. I do wear grey but simple. The other colors are not flattering on a pale Summer.

  15. I wouldn’t wear either of today’s outfits. The sweater on the first one is a bit too busy, so it doesn’t fit my adjectives of simple, classic or tailored. The wide legged pants are not flattering to my figure. I do wear hats, but they are not quite as big as this one. The poncho is not a good color for me, but I do like the detailing on it. In another color, it might be a yes. The line at the knee of the jeans would make my short legs look even shorter.

  16. Happy Friday, Pamela, and congratulations on being ranked number 3 — such a well-deserved honour! I really enjoyed this week’s Friday Fashion Fun. The embellished sweater in the first display caught my eye straight away, though I think I would wear it with simpler trousers, as the wide-leg pants and hat together feel a little busy for me. The poncho look is cosy and relaxed, and I can see it working well for a casual autumn day, especially with those cuffed jeans. Thank you also for the tip about the St. John’s Bay V-neck tee — a versatile layering piece in so many colours at that price is hard to beat, and it is lovely to hear how well yours have lasted. I always enjoy reading everyone’s reasons for their would-you-wear-it answers, as it helps me think more carefully about what suits me. Have a wonderful weekend!
