Heritage, Home, Christmas!

My sweet friend, Debby from INSPIRED DESIGN, asked me recently to show more of my Christmas decor.  Since I love it so much, I am happy to do just that!

My Christmas decor is first a tribute to our family heritage on both sides.  I have special decorations from each grandmother.  My mom gave us the Santas Around the World Collection; and Mr. B’s mom gave us the Christmas village she built over years with our children.

We hang stockings and ornaments hand made by my husband’s grandmother.

I wanted my own traditions, so I began my collections of Snowmen, votive candle holders, and small Christmas trees. Each nook and cranny has a decoration, and all are surrounded by red and green plaid.

We were also married in December, so there are several Christmas wedding gifts I bring out every year…including a plaid table cloth I love! I have four special nativity scenes which go inside the china cabinet.

To some, it might seem like too much…to my family, it brings us joy and smiles…my adult children comment if I leave anything out…they know where each item goes and they look forward to it. My sweetest December times are early in the mornings…candles lit, lights twinkling, peace….

Hope you enjoyed the tour…now go see what the other bloggers of Katie’s Favorite Things Blog Hop  are posting ….and, of course, have a joyful Thursday!

  1. Pam, I am so jealous! I am usually a Christmas decorating crazy woman. This year is so different. My Son put the tree up in the family room instead of the living room window. He put the lights on but it still took me a week to decorate it. Think about it. When using a walker that means one ornament on and 2 clinking to the floor! We always have outside lights and this year I said no……Big sign of relief from the boy crew. Next year will be better and this year will be the best I can make it!

  2. Good evening Pam,
How I enjoyed the tour.. You have created a warm Christmas feel to your beautiful home.. I love it.
Wishing you and yours a blessed holiday season.
    p.s. Love your stairs!

  3. I do have kids, however, I see christmas as another opportunity to get together, be loving and be happy. Your family is just looking forward to have that special moment with you, Love your home tour:)

  4. Pam, you decorate like a professional! It is all beautiful. You make me feel like such a grinch as I don't do any Christmas decorating any more. I have a huge collection of Dickens village items and they sit in boxes.
You are such an inspiration and so multi-talented.

  5. Whether your Christmas decoration is very pretty … I love this heart-warming … I love your blog. I visit you every day and you bring me a lot. When I doubt me I give it back the moral … Thank you and I wish you a wonderful Christmas with your family.

  6. I have a very dear friend who has hand made so many ornaments and small displays over the past 30 years that her home, at holiday time, is a literal wonderland – which it looks like yours is as well!

It's not my thing for my surroundings, but I do find it an amazing experience to enter, to hear the stories, to see the history and the work and the love that goes into each item and its meticulous display.

One of the main differences (in my view) when it comes to going all out on decorating your interiors for the holidays versus your exteriors is that you don't overwhelm an entire neighborhood or street. You celebrate joyfully the way you wish inside your own home, and I find that, personally, delightful and appropriate.

I love that we can all "fete" so personally and differently.

  7. I'm so glad you did this!! Your home is warm, just like you. 🙂 I am LOVING your little book nook. I want to plant myself right down in that chair with a cup of cocoa and read away!! xo

  8. you have a beautiful home!!!! Love the Santas, I have A collection of European Santas from over the past 10 years.Thank you for sharing at the Thursday Favorite Things hop xo
