5 Tips for Shopping Sales for Fashion over 50

Time to step out of the holidays and back into life…new year and perhaps a new you!  Many of us over 50 shoppers will look at this time as an opportunity to freshen our style and strengthen our confidence.  January clearance sales are a perfect time to try some new styles at affordable prices.

CHADWICKS OF BOSTON has some of the best prices around and this is the time to add quality pieces such as leather and wool to your wardrobe.  There is still much cold weather remaining and the prices on coats, sweaters, jackets, ponchos, and boots are the best right now.

Here are my tips for shopping sales:
1. Assess your wardrobe and see what pieces you do not currently own, but would like to add.  Such as a leather jacket or houndstooth pencil skirt.
2. See if there are colors you would like to add.  For me, I am in search of a blouse in the rust/cinnamon color which has been popular this season.
3. Always have a plan and do not buy just to buy.  Think of several different ways you could style the garment you are considering.  It helps to have more than one look in mind.
4. Know your size…yes, fit is everything. Look at seaming to see if it will flatter your figure.  The seams in the back of this jacket are excellent.  Jackets without seams in front and back are often too boxy.

The final tip is don’t wait or think too long.  Clearance items go quickly so get ready now and then SHOP! The prices are pretty incredible.

  1. thanks for the tip on seams in jackets. saves a lot of trying-on. And for setting goals before setting out for the January sales. Sometimes I hit the Eileen Fisher stores/section to scarf up anything on sale in my size that looks well on me. I can usually work it into my wardrobe somewhere. But that sounds like the exception to your rule.
