Fashion Over 50: Welcome Gray Days

I often laugh when I am introduced as a fashion blogger.  If you look at synonyms for fashion, you will find words like vogue, trend, craze, fad, couture….not so much me!  I recognize I am really a “ready-to-wear blogger”  wearing clothing off the rack with an occasional spin to the style to make it my own.  Since cooler breezes are blowing, I was excited to put on one of my favorite neutrals…slate gray.
I bought these two Eileen Fisher pieces on clearance at Dillards…the pants (several years ago) and the cardigan (this summer).  The cardigan is lightweight and perfect for Texas since we have warmer seasons than most.  I decided to pair it with navy in the blouse and shoes.I found my blue suede shoes at Rack Room shoes last year…and the necklace is a past Simply Vera Wang purchase from Kohl’s…just to give it a touch of fun.  This is not off the runway…but works well for my own work runway!  Comfortable and classic.

What are your favorite colors right now?  The beauty of fall fashion are all the lovely saturated colors all are us….including the neutrals!

I have several Eileen Fisher garments…I love the quality and mission of her company.  Below I found some currently on sale!  Your might want to check them out!

Keep Smiling!

    1. If you spend much time here on the blog with me, you will see that I mostly wear skinny pants and leggings. Today’s pants were an exception. I love skinny ankle pants the most!

  1. You mentioned that you bought the cardigan this summer. How much out of season shopping do you do? I’m looking for longer cardigans now and they are really expensive. I shop Chicos and Talbots usually online. What do you suggest when looking for investment pieces that will last a few seasons?

    1. I shop out of season a lot! That is when I make my best purchases..yes, it’s hard to wait to wear but when the seasons finally change I have some fun pieces. I am able to purchase higher quality brands that way. Sign up for the Talbots email and make sure you check out their Red Hangar Sales…they are excellent. I bought four cardigans in the last one! For me, it has been worth it to invest in quality cardigans, tanks, and pants that I wear over and over again. It makes the cost per wear very low. I hope that helps, Regina. You are always welcome to email me at over50feeling40@gmail.com if you have more questions! Love to help!

  2. Yesterday I too pulled out some grey tops, pants and lightweight sweaters. So nice to see your outfits and how you put them together. I seem to have lots of jewellery but simply don’t get around to using it on a daily basis.

    1. I am a big accessories fan, Eleni. I wear jewelry every day and love it. Try to add some just a couple of days a week…and I bet you do it more after that!

  3. Our temps have dropped here and today I pulled out my long, grey cardigan. I love grey and find it pairs with so many other colors. Lovely outfit, Pam. That necklace is perfect and so stunning!

    1. Sometimes I get that way with black…love it so much I have to be careful. I understand your desire to add more color.
