Autumn Home Decorating Ideas

I decorated my house for autumn over Labor Day Weekend…that way I can enjoy it a little longer.  It always seems to go by so quickly.  October is just about here.  But my autumn home decor gets mixed up just a little every year.  I live in an older home which has two living areas…a living room and den…unlike the modern ones which seem to have just one large family room usually off the kitchen.

The living room is what I call the white pumpkin room.  It has more of a French Country asthetic to it.  So, the white pumpkins really add.

The family room is more traditional with orange pumpkins, pine cones, autumn leaves, and a few other types of decor.

There are lots of candles.  As the days become shorter, I love candlelight in the early morning and evenings.  It is a must especially on the weekends, when I rise for candles, coffee and quite time.

What I love the most, is that my adult children decorate their homes as well….I guess it rubbed off!  Do you like to decorate for fall??  What are some of your favorite decorations this time of year?

Do you believe these decorations can make your home cozy?  I certainly do!  Enjoy your homes and let us know any fun decorating ideas………………………………………………………………………

KEEP SMILING And please look at my Instagram feed below to see my precious new grandson!!

  1. “Candles, coffee and quiet time…” what a wonderful, peaceful and calming thing to think about! I love that! Your home décor is beautiful and I like how you did the two rooms in different ways. You have quite a collection of pumpkins! Wonderful too, that your children picked up on it! I think fall is such a cozy time, such a perfect season, and it’s nice to see it celebrated in your décor. I do like to cozy things up this time of year. I get out the quilts and throws, not necessarily season specific (though I do go all out at Christmas), but cozy. I change up the candles to fall colors and scents. There are big pots of mums on my front porch steps. I am an early riser and love to have the glowing candles and the quiet time. Also some quiet music in the background. Easing into the day quietly kind of sets the tone. The picture with the pumpkin and the candle….so lovely!

  2. I love decorating for Fall – it is my favorite time of year. I also decorate with pumpkins and candles. I found some adorable velvet pumpkins in different Fall colors (orange, green, eggplant)at Safeway a couple of years ago and they stay through Thanksgiving – they are my Thanksgiving centerpiece on my dining room table. I put a leaf wreath on the front door and decorate my porch with mums, pumpkins, and more candles.

  3. Fall decorating is a tradition with my granddaughters and candles and pumpkins are a must. My older daughter was married 16 years ago in October and her centerpieces were fall mums, roses, berries and leaf arrangements in real pumpkins! Back then, no one had seen that before. Every year I take faux large pumpkins and fill them with large mum plants as instant arrangements for my porch and fireplace. Your new grandson is adorable…congratulations on your new little “pumpkin”…

  4. I enjoy decorating for fall and start after Labor Day, too, so we can enjoy it longer. We have a quilted runner on the dining room table along with a soft sculptured pumpkin and fall wreaths on the doors. Also, there are loads of fall flowers in the yard.

  5. I love decorating for Fall. I purchased two new pieces this year to replace two tired looking ones. I replaced my entryway wreath & bought a white ceramic pumpkin which says “Thankful & Blessed”.

  6. Our house is decorated for the Fall as is the front of the house. We are now getting ready to add the Halloween decorations. Your decorations are lovely.
    HAPPY FALL
