5 steps to dress confident every day at home

5 Steps to dress confident every day at home

Happy Sunday!  Let’s discuss 5 steps to dress confident every day at home.

I understand that many of us are challenged right now with more home life than we ever imagined, and in winter, it is a temptation to wear pajamas most of the time.

But, I am hear to testify that if you dress with confidence every day, it will brighten your outlook!

I like what Tish Jett writes in Forever Chic.

” When we feel good about ourselves, we feel powerful, which in turn gives us confidence, and honestly, what is more alluring than a gorgeous facade bolstered by self assurance.”

BEGIN AT THE BEGINNING FOR CONFIDENT DRESS

Step One to Dress Confidently at home every day

#1. PRACTICE BASIC GROOMING EVERY DAY:  Yes, take a shower, practice skincare, do your hair, and put on a little makeup…if even just a touch.

In this picture, I am showing you the new serum foundation from Trinny London.  My complexion loves a tinted serum foundation…a natural, healthy glow.

Trinny London sent this one my way to test, and I really like it…so does my skin!

SELECT FAVORITE COLORS

#2 WEAR YOUR FAVORITE COLORS FOR CONFIDENT DRESS EVERY DAY:  All of you know the colors that make you smile.

Don’t save them…wear them now!  Yes, it is obvious I love to wear black and wear it often…it makes me smile.

But I also love purple, green, and blue! I am not here to get you to dress like me, but to inspire you to dress with confidence in what you love.

And, to do that at home every day in order to help your attitude consider a favorite color.

#3 COLD HOUSE? GET OUT OF THE ROBE AND WEAR A CUTE TOPPER:  I have to remind myself that it is okay to wear former work clothing at home now for every day wear.

This is an Eileen Fisher cardigan I have owned for awhile and previously just wore to work.  Now, I wear it to work at home…love the texture.

#4 ADD SIMPLE ACCESSORIES FOR JUST A TOUCH OF FUN:  All this does is take your outfit up a notch and make it special for every day confidence at home.

It also helps to take off the house shoes and put on a nicer shoe…like a ballet flat or cute sneaker.

#5 DRESS CONFIDENT AT HOME EVERY DAY WITH A SMILE: Smiling is the best accessory and we use it more when we take care of ourselves and dress for the day.

Today, I am wearing a Chico’s Solid Easy Shirt in Purple Plum  and a Chico’s Faux Pearl Pendant Necklace…both currently on sale.

CONFIDENCE OUTSIDE OF HOME EVERY DAY

Confident dress in a mask outside of home every day

Of course, we want to be confident and feel safe outside of the home every day so I wanted to tell you about these disposable N-95 masks at GNC.

I drove past my neighborhood GNC recently and they had a sign in the front advertising these masks.  I went in and purchased a package and I am so glad I did.

This is a great fitting mask (covers really well) and for me, with asthma, it is so easy for breathing.  I could not find it online to link to, but wanted to let you know in case you live near a GNC location.

Sometimes Mr. B and I want to double mask, and I can breathe when I put my “fashion” masks on top of this one.

  1. You look absolutely radiant in these photos! Love the purple (magenta?) top with black topper and lovely necklace. Wow! I fell out power walking and am sporting stitches and a black eye and broken left hand. If you could see how I’m dressed you’d laugh out loud.
You, on the other hand, look fabulous.

  2. Paulette! I am so sorry to hear you fell! My husband is a trail runner and falls occasionally. In times like that, you must give yourself time and permission to heal. That must have been quite a fall…so, so sorry.

  3. Thanks for the info about the N95 masks for general consumption. Here in Canada we do not have GNC, but it is good to know they are being made and may be available soon. Young university students near us are having huge parties, and the numbers are skyrocketing, as well as a whole major postal outlet shutting down for 2 weeks, so anything that offers more protection is wonderful. I have been doing a lipstick trial with all the
tubes in the drawer, so do wear a bit everyday at home and earrings as well, since they don’t play well with the masks when out. See you at 9 tomorrow to check it out.

  4. Be sure you clarify that these masks are NOT the medical N95 mask. They are KN95. They provide good protection; but, should not be considered virus proof.

  5. Pamela, Love this blog post about wearing clothes that you feel that you wore to work. Since I was let go of my job I have been wearing leggings, sweatshirt, t-shirt, and sneakers. I don’t dress up I just put on what ever I have because in my mind I don’t won’t to get my good clothes ruined or if I go walking I won’t have on the right outfit. Since I have been home and with this virus going on I have been more depressed and have not confidence about myself. I am widow so I do not have a partner to talk too. Thanks again for this blog, it really did hit home.

  6. I’m sorry for Paulette…it’s tricky walking outside in the winter especially. Hope you heal quickly Paulette! Give yourself time to rest up! You look so pretty in the purple color Pam! Jewel tones really flatter you. I have similar coloring and also favor jewel tones with all of my black things!! It is so true about dressing nicely and fixing our hair and faces. It elevates my outlook and makes me feel more involved and positive. Also, you’re ready to run out at a moments notice. This is good advice!

  7. Good clarification, but they are protection from the virus and perfect for double masking! I have to be able to breathe!

  8. You are welcome! Dress for you…to put a smile on your face…it might help you with a sunny outlook every day. It’s worth a try…you can be casual and still look nicer than your sweats
    And feel better about you.

  9. Ready to run out in a moments notice is one reason I dress a little nicer even if it is only to the mailbox!

  10. Thanks Pam for a great post. I so agree dressing up for the day, puts many things in order. Also, some of my clothes would stay on the hangers, so I am working on wearing everything I can for a day out or day at home.

  11. Paulette, I feel for you! After foot surgery, I was supposed to be in a cast 2 weeks. Well, it was a more difficult fix than anticipated, so I’m in the cast for 8 weeks! At my first cast change last Friday, I got a bright red cast! It makes me smile to look at it. And I was thinking that sometimes it only takes a couple of style tweaks or upgrades to feel a lot better. After a sponge bath, I busted out the “good” perfume … I’m done hoarding for a workplace I no longer go to. Pam, you are spot on as always. You look great today and yes, let’s use some of this workwear to elevate the everyday.

  12. I love your attitude, Linda and encouragement for Paulette. Now, if I ever need a cast, I want it to be red!!

  13. Good for you, Audrey…let’s wear our great clothing…eat on the good china…drink from the crystal glasses. Life is too short not to!

  14. A great reminder, Pam! As this pandemic and the accompanying restrictions drag on, I’m finding it harder some days to bother doing the things you recommend, but making the effort really does help and so I do.

  15. You always look wonderful and pulled together! Thanks for the info on the masks. With the new variant circulating, it’s extremely important to wear the best protection possible. My husband and I have our vaccine apts booked for next week….can’t wait. We realize the vaccine isn’t a get out of jail pass, but rather another step in the long process of restoring our lives to freedom.

  16. Yes, yes, yes to everything you said. You have inspired me to step up my at home wardrobe. When I was a child, we had school clothes, Sunday clothes & play clothes. For a long time, I carried that idea over to my adult life, but in recent years, I have begun dressing for me. I have always done my hair, put on makeup & worn earrings even if I am staying home, but now I am wearing things at home that I can also wear to run errands & shop. Such a spirit lifter!

  17. The past year has been so crazy for me. I was furloughed for two months back in April and went back to work in June. My job doesn’t allow me to work from home, however, there’s hardly anyone in the office.

Still, I dress in a business casual attire — comfortable yet professional. I want to feel my best and I try to look my best (even if I don’t encounter anyone in the workplace). It’s been a challenge to tailor down my professional look to a style that is more casual. I enjoy being stylish and there are so many great casual looks right now.

Thank you, Pam, for your post today!

  18. Thanks for sharing, Beth. You have a different challenge but still one where you need to look your best.

  19. Your boost of confidence suggestions are wonderful Pamela. Truthful, well explained and certainly a pick up from what may be our daily present habits. I love your thoughts!
Also, the colors you’re wearing are dynamic and so well suited for you. You could only be confident in them!
I also greatly admire your kitchen! It is picture perfect!,
Very smart also posting new KN95 masks which will be
a part our wardrobes for a long time! Enjoy you evening!
    Many thanks always.
