2024 Fashion Trends: Red Shoes

2024 fashion trends

Happy April Saturday, ladies!  Welcome to our Saturday discussion of 2024 Fashion Trends…and today it is red shoes!

I know I took last week off, but since the beginning of 2024, Saturdays has been about looking at 2024 fashion trends.

This helps us to understand why we see so much of something online and in stores, and also how we can look current with our style.

Sometimes we only need to add a little pop of color…like today as we look at red shoes.

According to Who What Wear fashion magazine, “In case you didn’t know, we’re living through a red-shoe renaissance…”

Plus, there are so many outfits that a red shoe will elevate.

So, let’s talk 2024 Fashion Trends: Red Shoes.

2024 FASHION TRENDS: RED SHOES

2024 fashion trends

In past years, the red shoe was a heel or ballet flat.

However in our 2024 fashion trends, the red shoe can be found in many styles.

You can wear it with any neutral spring outfit, and with some prints.  A classic look is to pop- your red shoes with a black & white outfit.

The shoes in this graphic, include:

ECCO Women’s Soft VII Leather Lace-Up Sneakers…this link Is to Dillard’s and they are on sale.

Vionic Uptown Penny Loafer at DSW

Vionic Cap Toe Flat at Nordstrom

Ah, but there are many many options for red shoes right now…since they are in the 2024 fashion trends….this slideshow gives you a slice of what you will find….

Checking out varieties of styles is how you make a trend work for you!

  1. Red is not a color I wear, but I like the more cranberry colored Easy Spirit pair, and plan to order them in at least one color. Thanks so much for the discount code! I’ve really been struggling with shoes lately, and I especially appreciate all the different options you’ve shown us lately.

  2. Happy to help, Lorrie! There will be more on the way. I also am thankful to find options in these great comfort brands!

  3. Fun post, Pam. Thank you! I am on the lookout for orange, but a pair of tomato red would do the trick! Can’t wait to explore the shoe and skirt options more carefully.

  4. Oh, my. When I was in high school, I wanted a pair of fashionable red flats (similar to current pointed toe ballet flats) more than anything else in my sheltered life. As I had very long, narrow feet, such a pair were quite expensive for my family’s budget. Enter my darling Gran, who took me shopping. I cared for those shoes as if my life depended on it, polishing them weekly and limiting my wear of them, trying to preserve them forever. I don’t remember what happened to them, but while I owned them, I felt dressed and belonging. I wonder if that episode didn’t influence much of my fashion sense today, as even at 73, there are fashions that I covet, often by my own admittance, somewhat foolishly. Thanks for evoking such nostalgia and thank you for pursuing blogging despite the negative comments that are posted. I hope your foot saga continues to progress and that you are doing well.

  5. I LOVE red shoes and always have. They are almost like a neutral and look great with so many things. Fabulous with anything denim. They really dress up white, navy, cream, tan, black. Olive green….try them with a pink skirt or pants. Every shoe in your slide show is gorgeous. I have the shoes in the first photo of this post and get compliments every time I wear them.

  6. I’m debating red shoes vs yellow (Vivaia for both, as shown in the opening pic). I know a true red is really a neutral, and I think it would spark up my earthy wardrobe so much, but so would that bright gold/yellow. I have that shorter denim skirt from Talbots you showed in the slideshow, and it’s a very versatile item, so much so that during a sale, I bought another one as my size changed. I love that ivory skirt with the gores from Chicos, but fear the length would make me look a little dumpy, as midi skirts often do to me (5’5”, with a slightly long torso and shorter legs). Perhaps a try-on is in order. Thanks for all your hard work … I hope your bit of time off was the pause that refreshed.

  7. Thanks for the trends and the slideshows, it saves me money as it encourages me to shop my closet. The red loafers and black denim skirt will fit right in this season I think.

  8. Red Tom’s, a denim skirt and a white tee shirt were in my summer work wear rotation for many years. I would tie a cardigan around my neck just in case the AC was too much. Think I’ll bring this outfit back with a pair of slip on sneakers which are kinder to my feet. Thanks for the inspiration, Pam!

  9. Hi Pam…I have ecco sneakers in every color except red! I’m getting the red happily because it goes with white, navy, denim, beige, and other fashions like dresses, pants, tights, and shorts. My feet feel best in these and I could wear them to bed😂😂

  10. I loved Paula’s story about her red shoes and her gran who made them possible. So sweet! The Nordstrom pair is my dream shoe, but will never happen with my right foot – which is just too wide and the second toe bent to distraction. 😏 The red Vivaias would be a sound choice, though, and I would enjoy pairing those with a cute red crossbody bag for summer outings to park concerts and baseball games.

  11. It was refreshing Linda… thank you! You might consider which shoe you would wear the most. Personally, I think the red shoe pairs with more than the yellow. But you know your wardrobe best.

  12. I currently have two pairs of red shoes. I have a pair of loafers & a pair of flats. Both were purchased from sale racks. I really like the red knit flat from Nordstrom’s Rack. I have found that knit shoes are sometimes more comfortable for my aging feet as they have some stretch to them. For summer, a white or regular denim skirt with a red sneaker or flat would be oh so perfect.

  13. Yes it would be! I also have been drawn to knit shoes for the same reason, Becky…the stretch! Thanks for being here today.

  14. Currently own only one pair of red sandals that honestly I seldom wear unlike that of a cross-body bag that I have in a much richer shade, which I rely on as an accent color. Whereas to skirts I do have a few with favourites being midi and maxi lengths that also have a matching top, which in turn when styled/worn together elevates their casualness as gives the illusion of a dress. Wishing you a beautiful Friday, Pamela. -Brenda-
    P.S.: Love Paula’s story.

  15. Glad to see you are back Pam, we missed you! I’m happy that red shoes are making a comeback, it’s time to shop my closet once again. I currently own three pairs of red shoes – Bass loafers, Sperry Topsiders and Vans slip-on sneakers. They will be put back into regular rotation this summer thanks to your inspirational post. Keep them coming!

  16. I haven’t confessed yet that I do not currently own any red shoes. I not sure that my recovering foot will be able to wear ballet flats again…so I am pondering a new pair. Thanks Anne.

  17. Oh my! I have a very old pair of leather cherry red ballet flats which i too have cared for and tried to limit my wearings of.
Now they are actually in style!

  18. Funny, I’ve always considered red a neutral too as it “I’ll get it in red because it goes with everything”. I currently have a pair of red canvas sneakers, dark red sandals and a pair of red suede shoes I’ve owned for probably 20 years. They are perforated with a high vamp. I saw the same style a couple years ago in high end store for about 5 times what I paid for my shoes. The style is essentially timeless. I have my eye on those Vivia square toe flats but wonder about the arch support as the reviews say both yes & no. I loved Paula’s story too.

  19. If anyone can help with Kathie’s question, that would be very appreciated.

  20. Kathie, the Vivaia shoes have a removable cushioned insole with arch support. Everyone’s needs are different, but for me, they have been very comfortable right out of the box.
