2024 Fashion Trends: Lace

2024 fashion trends

Happy Saturday!  I am back, and ready to discuss 2024 Fashion Trends: Lace.

On Saturdays since 2024  began, we have discussed 2024 fashion trends and if we are in or out.

Some have discovered current trends already in their closets and just waiting to be styled and worn.

If a design element falls under fashion trends, then it is being brought to the forefront once again and you will see more options.

Of course, many of the trends we have seen before and that is why they are in our current wardrobles.

I encourage participation in a trend if it fits your style adjectives to keep you current and fresh with your style.

So, join me today as we look at one of the 2024 fashion trends…..

2024 FASHION TRENDS: LACE

2024 fashion trends

While out and about shopping for the blog, I have discovered the lace trend in many colors, styles, and as always, with many names.

An eyelet garment may look just like the pattern of another garment called lace somewhere else.

I could not find a good way to distinguish eyelet from lace…but I am certain some of you know.

During the life of this blog, I have worn very little lace…feminine  and classic are not in my style adjective.

But, I love the look on others.

Many women in Texas were lace garments.  They have always been a part of traditional western wear.

The top pictures are from recent Chico’s try-ons:

The majority of “lace” designs with the 2024 fashion trends are offered in white and black.

But, there are many, many options in all colors, and in natural for the warmer group.

This crochet sleeved top from JJILL in white/oyster is very pretty.

Today’s slideshow takes you across some of your favorite retailers and with different price points in a journey of lace:

2024 FASHION TRENDS: BEST SELLERS FROM THIS BLOG

By far the biggest selling garment on the blog this year so far has been the PULL-ON DRAWSTRING WIDE LEG JEAN on a wash called Waikiki Indigo.

The more I wear them the more I love them…and I hope all of you who have ordered using my links are happy with your decision.

This JJILL striped V neck top apparently sold out and it was one of the top selling items from this blog.

It was featured on the 2024 Fashion Trends: Stripes Post.

However, JJILL still has the WEAREVER SLEEVELESS LAYERING TUNIC in stripes.

Of course, there are many items which this audience is generously purchasing with my links and I appreciate it so much…thank you, thank you, thank you.

One note about my SHOPPING LINKS page.

I have told you  to let me know if you do not see a retailer there that you want to shop with…I will add them if I can.

Which means, if they will work with me through my affiliate program then I can add them…and really the majority of the top retailers do.

I was recently asked by a reader to add Belk to my Shopping lInks page, but they are not supporters of the affiliate program, so I was unable to do so.

Check with me any time and if I can add them I most certainly will.

Now, it is your turn to chime in on the 2024 Fashion Trends: Lace.  Do you wear it? Do you own it? What do you think of the many casual designs of lace?

I will be here tomorrow with another edition of Summer Sundays in Texas…but much calmer this week!

  1. Hmm. I was just looking yesterday at an ivory top from the old Travelsmith brand in my closet. I was wondering whether to donate it. Three quarter sleeve and lined, not a trendy cut. I should keep it as a layering piece! Thank you!

  2. I like lace on other people, and I love the western look (which would tempt me some if I lived there; other than jewelry, it would look costume-y in Ohio). But, like you, lace doesn’t fit my style adjectives. Eyelet is a type of lace, one that features embroidered cutouts and leaves some of its cotton background fabric intact. The type of construction of lace varies … eyelet is an embroidered lace, vs crochet or tatted (think Chantilly), where the maker starts with just a spool of thread. That’s not to say retailers now are correct in their naming, but as a former dedicated embroiderer and quilter, this is my understanding.

  3. U look great in the brown blazer orange top and indigo jeans. Definitely your colors goes good with your hair etc.

  4. Pam, I love lace, crochet, eyelet, all of it. Beautiful. You look fabulous in all of the outfits. On the pull-on jeans, how heavy is the fabric? Are they lightweight and good in summer?

  5. Those jeans are perfect for summer, Marcia! So light weight! I wear them comfortably in South Texas heat.

  6. The eyelet kimono from Chico’s looks very pretty on you; I’d like to order for myself. does that run true to size for you? Thanks so much!

  7. Happy Saturday! I am so glad you do these posts on what’s trending. Living in a small town and having lost our JCP and Macy’s, and of course never having had any specialty ladies shops, it’s easy to feel cut off from fashion. Thank goodness you’re here to help! 💕 As to lace or eyelet, I have a few pieces in white that are mostly worn on vacation. I do enjoy openwork weaves on summer-weight cardigans in a variety of colors. They aren’t lace, but have that same delicate effect, which I do really love.

Off to the Farmer’s Market, and then the first baseball game of summer! 🥕⚾️

  8. I love lace but only have a few lace trimmed tops. I like when they come self lined so will keep my eyes open for a full lace one. Your showing the favourite pants was timely for me as I just bought a similar pant with the large cuff. My first wide legged pant and I have to have them shortened and couldn’t decide whether to reattach the hem or not. They look really good on you so I think I’ll go all the way with the style even though I’m short.

  9. I love lace and eyelet when its not too frilly, like when its used in a tee shirt or a camp shirt. Currently I don’t currently own much. Very little is offered in autumn colors. I really like some of the looks you showed, particularly the Chico’s shirts because they are less fussy than some of the other offerings. Back when I wore black & white I loved pairing lace shirts and tees with jeans and if I wasn’t being true to my colors I’d be tempted. I am not much of a fan of the crochet doily look but I’m sure it suits someone else’s adjectives. I have a couple of last year’s version of Talbot’s lace-trim tees which are a less “frilly” lace than this year’s and find myself reaching for them often. I’ll also give a thumbs up to your photo in the brown blazer. Those are such great colors on you. Happy Saturday.

  10. Let me know how you like them, Linda. It’s helpful when other shorter women ask. Thanks!

  11. In answer to Linda D, I have those exact jeans. A good seamstress can shorten them above the wide cuff effect. The petite jeans fit me perfectly as I like them long and on my foot not high water which makes my 5’1 1/2” self look shorter. Yes, I have lost a half inch! Fortunately it seems to not be in my leg length. I wear 2P at Chicos. They are light weight and very comfortable. Pam, you look terrific in the brown jacket! I’m not a lace person. I find it itchy. I did wear eyelet in my youth but cut in simple lines. My mother and I made all of my clothes then as there were no petites for us little girls. I’m 79 and many things have changed making it easier to buy ready to wear clothes.

  12. I like both lace & eyelet. I have two lace tanks & one has a matching jacket. The tanks work under blazers & other toppers, but the jacket is a bit too dressy for most casual events. I think eyelet is a bit more casual. If I still wore dresses, the blue lace Talbot’s dress would be lovely for a special occasion. I am always cautious when I look at lace or eyelet garments as they can sometimes seem to be a bit “cutesy”. As with many things, my rule of thumb is if my twenty something granddaughters would wear it, I probably shouldn’t.

  13. As a hobby sewer (and a fabric junkie) I feel Linda gives a very good description re the distinction between eyelet and that of lace fabric. That being said; do find though often retailers mislabel as so many influencers do. i.e.: Describing velveteen fabric as velvet but the nap does differ with the former being more casual IMHO similar to eyelet and that to lace. In other words both velvet and lace being more elegant. Also agree with Sydney re the shortening of the jeans however a good seamstress should even be able to retain the original cuff (design) by using what is best described as an overlap method and finishing off accordingly. Last but not least; super ‘favorites’ Pamela and I do forecast that lace will be very much on trend particularly in 2025 but will have more of a modern edge (in design) both in garments and accessories that will also appeal to the young. -Brenda-

  14. I had not considered the cutesy factor but perhaps that is why I do not care for many lace garments. Thanks Becky!

  15. Late to the lace conversation since I ran a wedding yesterday, but it’s one of my favorite textures so I wanted to weigh in. I love textured fabrics, and have always been a fan of lace, but I try to choose styles carefully. Many of the newer items are a heavier lace/eyelet that doesn’t drape very well, but you’ve shown us some real winners! I’m using your Dillard’s link to try the lace bishop sleeve blouse, in hopes that I can wear it. If the camisole underneath is not made into the blouse I can see wearing it as a summer topper over sundresses, but also in the fall with jeans and western boots. I’m also ordering the green and ivory striped top from JJill – wish I’d seen it before my recent trip to Charleston, as those were my capsule wardrobe colors. But I’ll wear those colors all summer and it will be fun to have another piece to expand that capsule. You look stunning in the first navy eyelet outfit, and I can imagine how well it would work for a San Antonio summer!
