  1. I’ve always said I’d rather glow than sparkle, because I prefer pearls to diamonds, but these gorgeous options have me reconsidering that stance! I’m going to try the rose gold sequin cape from Chico’s, since I have a coupon. I also decided to check eBay for similar pieces, since I’m trying to economize on non-essentials before the holidays, and found a brand new Chico’s sequined top in my size. It has black in it, and I can wear the sequined cape for my outer layer. Thanks for this early holiday wardrobe inspiration. It feels good to know I will have a couple of glam pieces in my current size before any holiday invitations arrive!

  2. Love the idea of sparkling as we enter the holiday season- just stepping inside. Yesterday high was 80 degrees here in little Rhode Island while today I’ll be watching Bens soccer team dressed for a high temp of 55! Breezy!

  3. I love sparkle, but these days confine it to a bit of embellishment or in my jewelry or accessories. This is just personal preference, as my tastes are getting simpler and my lifestyle is almost exclusively casual. If a sequined tank in a color other than black ends up in a deep clearance sale after the holiday, I might pick it up for cruising. Otherwise, to holiday events, I’m planning to wear dark jeans or pants, with a rich-colored, solid cashmere sweater and a statement cuff or necklace. I will use glittering accessories or not, depending on the specific venue. I realize this formula is a bit time worn, but I can’t justify dollars or closet space for much sparkle, worn so seldom. Were I so inclined, I would buy after the new year for the upcoming year, much as we used to buy half off Christmas cards. Every year, the stores overflow with leftover sparkle in January.

  4. I am feeling the sparkle this year! May add myself for the first time in a long time!

  5. Lovely post. Years ago I bought a coppery sequin tank on sale at Talbots. I ended up not wearing it so I donated it. I think the sequined edges annoyed me. I wish I still had it to play with but I can’t indulge now while trying to prioritize some purchases. Happy weekend!

  6. Lovely festive pieces for those who have events that invite sparkle. In my former life I’d be tempted by Chico’s gold tank, especially if I could get it on sale. Even then a little sparkle went a long way for me. Now my only dress up affair is the quilt guild Christmas luncheon which is currently on hold and will likely be cancelled as the venue is in Asheville & they still do not have potable water. I tend to lean more to velvet than sequins. I find I can pair it easily with jeans all winter (I love texture). I splurged and paid full price for a deep green-teal velveteen military jacket at J Jill that will work for casual get-togethers and church. Pam you should check it out as the color is one that is gorgeous on you.

  7. 🌂 🌧 Well, our rains have begun in earnest now, so my ‘sparkle’ comes from all the droplets I inevitably sport dashing here and there! If it happens to be dry, I love to shine with a little velvet and reserve the sparkle to an earring or brooch. Best wishes to your dear family as you await the new baby’s arrival. ❤️

  8. Love your comment, Pam, that when November arrives we all can use a little sparkle. Note to self: spark is both physical and mental. These next several weeks my Arizona everyday casual neutrals/occasional jewel tones will elevate with a hint of sparkle. Now shopping my closet for its grey tee with subtle sparkles…Chico’s tanks in soft metallic golds/silvers/creams…white-and-cream-stripe cotton tee with a few sequins…sapphire blue cotton tee with matching sequins. Resort wear exudes its own effortless sparkle. One simple interesting accessory encourages delightful chats with strangers and brightens everyday routine.

  9. Sparkle has never worked for me. I also love velvet for its richness and hand. I bought a pair of dark green Chicos jeans in velveteen for last Christmas and a green knit top to match. It will be my only occasion this year. And that will be at home with my dear husband.

  10. I love sparkle. Looking forward to finding any occasion that I can wear some outfit with the sparkle in November and December.
So excited for you to be with your new grandson when he arrives.

  11. I am a bit of a minimalist when it comes to sparkle. I have a couple of holiday tops courtesy of my late husband that have some sparkle. I like the Talbot’s cardigan with the sparkly buttons because my late husband was always drawn to items with interesting buttons. I don’t believe I would ever wear sequined pants or a skirt or anything else totally sequin covered. It is just not my style.

  12. I. too. am not really a sparkle person but love rich velvet shirts and jackets — so that’s what I will be looking for this year. I don’t have more than a couple of dinners / events, so I am not planning on spending too much. I have a nice winter white sweater, which I got for my son’s wedding, that says ‘celebrate’ and has some sewn-on sparkle shapes, so that should fill in any gaps. Good to start thinking about it, though.

  13. Sparkle sparkle love some and some so so. Right now the sparkle is all in the stores with some selling out. Have a great day and Sunday. Your post are coming in a day late. But as long as I get them I’m fine.
