Frank & Eileen Jacket: A new favorite
Happy Veteran’s Day, friends! I have a review for you today…the Frank & Eileen Jacket: A new favorite.
I recently received a gift and decided to treat myself to a Frank & Eileen jacket I have wanted to add to my wardrobe for awhile.
I know some of you will not be interested, but for those who are, I will share with you why I would wear this Frank & Eileen Jacket every day if I could.
Sometimes, it is worth it to add a special piece to our wardrobe that may cost more, but the cost per wear will be lower because it checks all of the important boxes.
Please read and consider that such a jacket might be worth securing a place on your own wish list for the holidays.
Now, why this Frank & Eileen Jacket is a new favorite.
FRANK & EILEEN JACKET: WHY A NEW FAVORITE
In the past year, I purchased a Frank & Eileen triple fleece top (100% cotton) to see what all of the accolades were about from other respected bloggers.
I really liked it and found myself wearing it often. It washed very well and I have washed it a lot.
So, when I saw this Frank & Eileen jacket…I immediately desired to add it to my wardrobe…and when I received the gift to do so, it was a no-brainer for me.
This is the BELFAST, Sweatshirt Peacoat in Irish Chocolate.
My boxes in order to justify the purchase were…….
- The sustainable material washes well and holds color.
- The lightweight jacket works well in a warmer climate, and since it is an oversized fit, I can easily layer underneath if needed.
- Despite the oversize, I believe it is a flattering fit.
- The beautiful brown is my wheelhouse and goes with my entire wardrobe. It also comes in a beautiful dark green.
- My favorite jackets are peacoat, double-breasted design…it works well for me.
- It can go super casual or elevated casual…and that is where my wardrobe is living right now.
Knowing that the Frank & Eileen jacket ticked all the boxes, I knew my cost per wear would be low…and it already is.
I like to add a quality garment when I can because it does make a huge difference in my overall wardrobe.
Frank & Eileen jackets are so good for our over 50, a little more casual lifestyles.
Jackets & Blazers with jeans are my personal uniform of choice.
FRANK & EILEEN JACKET: SHOES OF CHOICE

I’ve heard a lot of buzz about this brand, and I’m glad to hear more about it from someone I respect so much. I’m hoping you’ll report back on how this piece is wearing after a few months. I love the look of their Mini Belfast jacket that so many of my friends wear, but they are all petite, so I’m not sure it would translate well to my longer frame. I like knowing what the higher end brands are up to, even if their pieces would be a splurge for me. I often can find gently used brands like this on eBay or Poshmark, which is a great way to experiment with something outside your normal price range. Your links also make it so easy to make our purchases a “win/win!”
Yikes, $350 for a sweatshirt jacket with raw hem and seams.
Good morning! It looks like the pocket sags while wearing, which might bother me. While I’m more than willing to spend a high cost, if the quality justifies it, I’m not sure that this would fit the bill for me. Also, the length is a little long for my preference.
A local shop carries Clara Sun Woo, and I’m enjoying several pieces from her amazing line of clothing. For reference, I’m petite, and many times have trouble finding clothes that don’t overwhelm my small body. Any suggestions for high quality clothing for small women would be wonderful.
Carole
I will report back!
Many love the brand and the look!
I also like Clara Sun Woo…and I know several petite women who wear the shorter styles of Frank & Eileen. My petite friend, Leigh Ann, loves the petite styles at Talbots. I will watch for more!
I am definitely on the lookout for a jacket/coat like this but as a petite, I feel I need petite-sized proportions. I have been looking on Poshmark and eBay as well as thinking about the one available on Quince that we may have discussed before. JJill has one in my petite size, but not in my color range this year. I have black and blue pea coats so really don’t need one, but like the advantage of a lighter weight, less bulky coat like this one you are showing us. Nice to see this brand again as it is unfamiliar to me.
I hope it stands up to the test of times for the cost. In my humble opinion you have many more flattering jackets.
I will watch for ways to get the brand on sale.
The other top I have has stood the test of time and yes I have other jackets…but I do love this one…it is good for me!
The F&E website says to size down…do you agree
You look absolutely stunning in this jacket and loafers! I watch my budget, too, and love thrifting…..
But once in a while, it’s good to splurge on a high quality item if you can. I see joy in your face. Good for you!!! Easy spirit shoes are fantastic. Thanks for highlighting them.
I do agree…it is designed to be oversized.
Marcia…you are so sweet. This jacket marries my more casual lifestyle now and my polished adjective. I also love this brown! Thank you for sweet words…it is a treat for me!
For that money I can buy Ralph Lauren or Donna Karan at Nordstroms and get high quality, lining, and structure. On my body, I need some tailoring. I think as we get older, a lot of us would benefit from that as opposed to covering up with fabric. And I could wear that blazer with jeans, a t shirt, and loafers, or pair it with heels and jewelry. My cost per wear would be very low too. Sorry Frank and Eileen, I have not been tempted yet.
I love the brown loafers and the boots, may have to check those out!
I have Ralph Lauren in my closet I love and one found in thrift.
While I appreciate your opinion, I completely disagree that a jacket like this is “covering up with fabric.” There are days I reach for structure and days I reach for relaxed. We don’t need to be the same all the time…variety is fun!
Wow! I do love certain qualities of this jacket. The color, the buttons, length and collar. But as one commentor said, the droopy pockets would be a problem. And probably the raw hem. For this price, the hem should be finished. Pockets can really make or break an item. Sadly, the pockets on this lovely jacket would make it a no for me.
I think that is the brand’s style aesthetic, but I get what you are saying.
At 5 foot 3 inches I’ve had my eye on the mini Belfast, however, I’m a bit of an impulsive shopper. Suffice to say I do not have a capsule wardrobe, so I just couldn’t pull the trigger. Then I found a look-alike on Amazon. It’s absolutely adorable. Had to size up as opposed to the suggestion to size down on the FE site, but all of the reviews said it’s such a great look like for the mini Belfast. I absolutely love it. This is one of those cases where I spent very little money to determine that I probably would indeed spend the money on the real one for the long-term. It speaks to my quirky side with the unfinished hem, a very clever jacket.
Thanks for sharing, Suzi. I am going to check this out! Appreciate it.
Looks like Frank & Eileen gifted Jennifer the same jacket but in a different color. She is also featuring this jacket today. You can actually buy the sweatshirt joggers to match and spend over $500 for the set. While I am trying to focus more on quality these days as opposed to quantity I have to agree with Susan’s comments – I can find better quality with some tailoring at this price point.
Just to be clear…I was given a gift card of money from someone I care about and a chose to spend some of it on this jacket. The brand did not gift it to me. Thanks!
Pam please don’t be offended by people’s opinions on clothes. We all have different perspectives especially on fashion. Your jacket looks comfortable and that is number one on my adjectives. The color is lovely with your complexion. Your gift of love paid for it so you can really enjoy it for a long time. We all have different budgets for clothing and this is far out of mine but I always enjoy seeing the different price levels of garments. Fashion is fun even as a spectator.
I am not offended by different opinions on clothes, but when words are meant to be hurtful rather than helpful, I will say something. I think that has only happened once in the comments today.
An item that you will wear often and that brings you joy every time you put it on is worth splurging on. I will splurge on a good winter coat that will last for a dozen years, for instance. Obviously this jacket brings you a lot of joy, meets your adjectives and it looks good on you. So the cost per wear may be lower than a less expensive and less loved jacket. They style may not be for everyone but I like it on you. Happy Monday.
Kathie, you got from the post exactly what I hoped others would. We all splurge on items we love and they are different for each of us. I do love this jacket…thank you!
Adorable jacket! You are enjoying the cooler weather and figuring out your favorites with cost per wear. I like the Henley they offer. I have 3 biker style jackets in a heavy sweatshirt fabric. That style suits me better. I always try to figure out cost per wear now. I spent $$$ on a cashmere gauze stole that I scrunch up and wear as a scarf almost year round, for hours at a time. My neck is always cold. It is probably two plus years old now. I never treated it as precious. I just wear, bobbles and all. I have an acquaintance who is not particularly interested in clothing or color. She would never consider it. This unusually colored antique moss scarf owes me nothing- that is the way I figure it. You look great. Are those brown loafers soft on bunions, do you think?
Hi Deborah, I still believe the best loafers on bunions would be from Easy Spirit or SAS. They seem to keep foot issues in mind.
Ann, I totally agree with you….yikes!
I’m afraid for myself as our Autumn season is soooo short; this piece (the jacket) at $500.00 Cdn. $$$ would be a splurge, however Pamela as it works for you by all means enjoy it. -Brenda-
Love to hear from you Brenda.
My dentist is close to a Nordstrom Rack and I’ve tried some things on from the brand that have shown up there. I am not sure if the brand is as inclusively sized as another famous brand that shares a similar name. The large wrap sweat dress was plenty big in the chest, but didn’t overlap in the skirt quite as much as I thought a “large” ought to, and I’m only a size 12.
I recently got a sale notice from them and ordered a white “beach” cardigan which is basically an dolman sleeved cardigan. I had seen it last Summer and liked it but couldn’t bring myself to buy it. Even on sale it was a splurge.
It’s nice, and definitely worth the sale price. The fit is slouchy, but not excessively oversized. The material is 100% cotton material. Many leisure wear tops/bottoms these days have a high polyester content if they aren’t 100% polyester which bags and pills after awhile. I have been looking at some of their sweat pants, which seem to have a slim but flattering cut. As my older all cotton sweat pants fall apart I may consider their higher quality product as a replacement if their sizing works for me.
Right now I’m wearing the beach cardigan with my flannel Jammie pants but as Spring rolls around I’ll be wearing more like a light sweater.
In addition to the better than average fabric the arms and body are one piece, which uses more fabric than sleeves that were cut separately and sewn onto the body.
I would say look around at stores that stock their items and try them on before deciding if they’re worth it to you.
Thanks for sharing, Rose…very helpful!
You look great in your jacket! It is YOU. Since I’ve followed you and your advice I definitely see the value in the third piece. Accessories too! Thank you for all the work you do for us!
Thank you for being here, Paulette.
