Survey Time…Please Share Your Thoughts
Happy Monday! Today is survey time…please share your thoughts.
Every year, I ask for your insights and opinions about the blog as I plan for 2025.
You can read my mission at the top of the page and hopefully see that I do this for you!
To inspire and educate you to live your best life in the second half.
But, I will be the first to admit that our lives change as we age and so do our likes and our needs.
Therefore, I want to stay plugged in to you…the blog reading audience.
Now that I am settled Into a new home…you have my full attention.
You may leave your thoughts here in the comments, or on Facebook, or send me an email at over50feeling40@gmail.com.
Last year, I received more emails than comments…and that is fine. I understand that you may want to keep things between me and you.
So, please consider the questions and give me your best answers.
SURVEY TIME…PLEASE SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS: CATEGORY 1
As a content creator, there are many decisions that must be made in order to reach the largest audience and increase reach.
Please answer the following:
- If the blog was not promoted in email, would you still read it? That means that I would primarily promote the daily posts on Facebook and Instagram. However, I am pretty faithful to post daily.
- If it is still promoted on email, do you mind receiving a monthly newsletter in email or occasional promotions…or is that too much.
- If there was a morning video from me posted on Facebook five days a week, would you watch it. ( I believe the FB videos will be easier for me than the Youtube Channel)
- Is there anything frustrating about the blog format that keeps you away at times?
- What can I do to improve your time here?
SURVEY TIME…PLEASE SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS: CATEGORY 2
This audience has always loved fashion and I have been told in the past that many come here just for that reason.
But, I blog about fashion to encourage you to be YOU…not clones of me.
Please share with me the answers to these content questions:
- Do you prefer fashion content over other topics?
- Do you like for me to discuss beauty, health, home, travel and other topics?
- Would you like to see more posts on the challenges of aging?
- What other topics would you like for me to discuss that I don’t typically cover?
- What are your favorite fashion brands and what brands are you NOT interested in?
- What do you like that I do on the blog and what can you live without?
- What do other blogs do that you like and wish I did?
- Have your shopping budget and needs changed?
- Do you like for me to share about my new home town, or not?
- Do you share my content with other women in your life and why or why not do you do that?
- Are there any post topics I do that you would be sad if they went away...Example: Today’s News for Women Over 50
- Is there anything I write about that you would like to see more of?
SURVEY TIME…PLEASE SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS: CATEGORY 3
What would you like to tell me that I have not asked?
I want this place to be where you come for inspiration, encouragement and education for your current life.
Am I doing that for you right now?
The faithful followers have always been so helpful as I plan for the next year…I will listen to you, just give me your opinion.
There is no time limit on this. I am pondering changes right now…but you are my team and I want to hear from you whenever you can get with me.
Thank you so much for reading and supporting what I do.…
STAY STRONG & KEEP SMILING!
By Pamela Lutrell
For all your shopping, please use the links on my SHOPPING PAGE…thank you, thank you to all who shop this way.
I read you daily, I’ve bookmarked the blog, along with others I follow. Wednesday is my favorite entry, I look forward to it. I enjoy your fashion entries, too. I buy from most of the brands you follow. I’m very tall and thin, so it’s good to see recommendations I might not otherwise be aware of.
I am about your size so I enjoy the fashion; I shop where you shop—Chico’s, Talbots, Dillards, Macy’s, HEB. I like to see you using pieces that you have. I live in Houston so I know the areas when you talk about where you live so I enjoy that. I enjoy the Wednesday news; I am rarely going to watch a video.
Yours is the first blog I read via email each morning – I suppose I could train myself to look on Facebook or Instagram but prefer email. As a general rule, I don’t watch videos and skip them on other blogs. I’ve enjoyed reading about your transition to a new community (My husband and I moved to a much larger city to be near children and grand babies so I empathize on what a huge transition it is) and would love to know more about why you changed your clothing style to a more casual look and how you’re feeling about it post-move. I’d love to keep hearing more on your ‘new life.’ So many women/couples I know have made the move to new cities to be near family – there are a lot of us, so we appreciate hearing your personal story. I’m here more for the fashion and lifestyle than health tips. Merry Christmas to you and your family!
I like the blog in it’s present form. You do a great job. If it was not in Email form I probably would not read it. I look at my Email in the morning having my coffee.
I no longer get an email for the blog, but it’s the first thing I read every morning.
I always enjoy my time here, but I don’t read Wednesday’s blog as I just don’t have time.
I enjoy reading about fashion, beauty, health, home, travel and your family and would probably read about the challenges of aging.
Chico’s, Talbots, Nordstrom and Macy’s are my go-tos. Don’t care about Kohls, Walmart, etc.
My wardrobe has gotten more casual since I retired but I’m still definitely a member of Team Overdressed!
Love hearing about your new home & town.
First of all I don’t do Facebook so if it were not an email, I probably would not see it often. I thoroughly enjoy the Wednesday posts, News for Women. I also enjoy seeing life in your area as I live in Virginia and it is quite different. I also enjoy your fashion post.
Thanks Pam
I love your blog just the way it is and enjoy learning about your new home, town and all your family. I admit I do not often read much of your Wednesday post, but I know many others do. I love the fact that you share your faith. I love the fashion advice and news, also. Keep up the good work.
Oh, it seems like we just had a survey–how time flies! I really like your content, Pam. I don’t get any notifications, but come here daily. Yes, I mention your content to my friends. I like finding out about your new community and new home. I probably wouldn’t watch videos. The fashion shows you attend are some of my favorite posts. My only “complaint” is sometimes the photo backgrounds are overly cluttered or distracting. I know that can’t always be helped. Honestly, your sweet, genuine personality keeps me coming back.
I like the blog and read every morning. The makeup is my least favorite. I don’t like the fb things you have to listen too because there are usually other people around me. I enjoy the Wednesday news. I am about your size so I do enjoy seeing how outfits look on you.
Hello, I do not get an email but read your blog daily. I would not be inclined to watch a video. I like all the content, especially Wednesday news and Sunday reflections with recipes.
My needs are changing since I have retired. I like most brands and am always looking for new ones to try. I am interested in a variety of topics including aging.
1 – All topics are interestin
2 – Yes
3 – Although I hate being reminded of time passing !
5 – I live in the UK so most brands are unavailable or much more expensive
6 – I like most topics covered so do’t leave anything out .
7 – I rarely cook sweet things .
8 – Now that I have a (very unexpected) pension my spending is more for me .
9 – Oh yes .
10 – Most of my female friends are not into fashion/lifestyle chat- and we are all in the UK anyway .
11 – I like the balance of topics .
12 – Perhaps a bit more on exercise ? I.e. different kinds and what they are good for based on personal experience ?
I enjoy your blog just as it is. You have a good balance of different topics, most of which I find to be helpful and interesting. I enjoy learning about your life in a new town, including features about your new home. I also enjoy your Wednesday posts. I would prefer to keep receiving the emails, even though I also follow you on Facebook and Instagram. I also go through my emails when drinking my morning coffee, so I would be more likely to see your blog there. I hope you are enjoying this new chapter of your lives. Merry Christmas to you and your family!
I prefer getting an email every morning or else I would just forget about searching for you. FB and Instagram are now advertisements and I am avoiding them both. Some of my favorite bloggers are too packed with information and shopping widgets; I like that you stick to a topic each day. I’m enjoying seeing your new home and town. My least favorite topics are makeup and food. I do enjoy some topics on aging and its challenges. At 73, retired for 6 years, I’ve downsized and living the life of an older limited income American who enjoys travel, golf and the grandkids. I wear mostly Talbots, a little Chicos and some Athleta; always searching for casual, country club chic. Macy’s is the only large department store near me; I dislike and hardly ever order online for clothes. There is one blogger who I used to love but she has gone so high end and, to me, not real. If I didn’t see you every morning I think I would miss you terribly!!
-I like the current mix of topics on your blog and look forward to it daily, except for today’s news for women over 50, which I do not read.
-I will not follow your blog if it moves to Facebook because I do not use social media.
-If anything is added to the blog, I’d appreciate seeing more examples of how to wear items in different ways, such as how to dress up or down an item.
-Ways to accessorize a specific outfit would be a nice-to-see
-I prefer not to receive partner ads unless they are accessed on your blog. I receive more than enough Emails.
I enjoy the fashion first and foremost. I especially like your newer casual vibe and would like that more broken down and analyzed (your process). Team overdressed is not my vibe, but neither is sloppy, and it’s a difficult line to navigate. I like the “why” of fashion. I’m not very interested in cooking or recipes, but don’t mind them on occasion, as I realize the community likes them. I enjoy hearing about your new town and your travels. I would like to see more of what you actually wear. I’m not on FB or Instagram, so I’m not sure if I would continue to read as much if I had to remember to look it up. Sure, I would accept a rare newsletter or promotion. I do enjoy some retailers ypu don’t often feature, such as BR, Gap, Athleta, JCrew. I often look at blogs by younger hosts to try to get ideas from a different perspective, and they feature these brands.
1-1. I don’t look at Facebook daily, but I do watch your quick videos at the top of the web page with FB loads. I do not use the FB App, nor stay signed in on the web version. FB is too intrusive with their tracking. Rarely use instagram, same reasons since FB bought it.
1-2. I enjoy your emails and would miss them if on a more infrequent basis.
1-3. I watch the quick videos at the top of the FB page, but rarely any longer videos.
1-4. The amount of pop-up ads and video ads are annoying. If I put it in Reader mode to avoid all the ads, then your links don’t open a second page, they overwrite your post.
2. I really like the variety of topics you cover on a regular basis. It’s not the same-old, same-old on repeat. You do an exceptional job keeping my interest.
2-5. I mostly frequent Talbot’s, J Crew, Jjill, Land’s End/LL Bean-for winter gear, occasionally Dillard’s.
2-9. I love that you’re sharing your move and new town.
2-10. Yes, I recommend to other women, or forward your posts on a fairly regular basis.
2-12. I now live unexpectedly in hot, swampy Florida, but never imagined I would. I cannot wear a third layer 6-8 months of the year, it is way too hot for me. Silk scarves are even too hot in the swamp months. If you could suggest other ways to ramp up an outfit, that would be very helpful. My lifestyle in FL (the worst dressed State in the US in several polls) is much more casual, but I find that I now lack the basics to generate easy outfits. It is harder for me to be casual here than up north.
Thanks for your blog, all your ideas, recipes, and articles. 🙂
If the post wasn’t in email then I won’t be reading it. I always skip the Wed post. I don’t have time for videos. Other than that, I like your blog very much, especially the personal aspects of what is going on in your life. I also am very involved with my grandchildren, so that is really interesting to me. Sunday reflections are my favorite. I would never spend what Eileen Fisher pieces cost, but having said that I do find value in seeing what is offered and if I like the look I can probably source it with reasonably priced dups. I so very much appreciate your trips to Pennys and Kohls and of course Chicos and Marshalls/TJ Max, and J Jill. Also the boutique shops are fun. I follow about 5 other blogs and they seem to focus most of their shopping at Talbots (ugh) and you provide much more variety in price points. All your thoughts about the big move were so interesting and honestly, I like everything pretty much the way it is! Thanks for your hard work.
I do not get emails but I do read your blog daily. I do like fashion but it is not my thing as much since I am retired now. My favorite post is your Sunday Reflections and my least is the Wednesday posts. Love your little road trips, just every day living. Thanks for what you do!
Like so many other ladies here, I read your post first thing in the morning. I am always interested in where you’ve been, what you’ve found or done, and of course the fashion ideas and news of your home life. I have missed the occasional book recommendation or discussion of what everyone else is reading, as I am an avid reader. That might fit into a Sunday Reflection once in a while. As to Facebook, I am not on it. I made an Instagram account several years ago, but haven’t kept up with it and it’s just not my thing. Your emails make the blog super easy. I used to share quite a lot of your blog with my mother, and sometimes mention what’s going on with you now to my husband – not that he is going to become a reader! 😄 I pick and choose my way through the Wednesday news features, much as I would any magazine, and appreciate you collating stories of interest to this demographic. Least favorite topics are skin care and makeup, as I have that dialed in already. I enjoy your recipes and always feel an extra zing of happiness when you have shown and talked about San Antonio; and of course look forward to same now that you’re in Abilene.
Thanks for all your hard work! 💕
I love your blog, although I must admit I find all the advertising (verbo, sinus products, etc.) annoying and distracting. I liked it better when I would get a daily Bloglovin notice and logged on and looked at all the blogs that I subscribed to. Don’t know what happened to bloglovin, but I guess it has disappeared.
I like all the reviews of the clothing brands, Chicos, Talbots, etc. and especially like when you model the clothes, love your smile!! You always look like you’re having fun 🤩 . I would like to see more attention paid to made in America clothes. As a professional dressmaker, I am appalled at the shoddy fabric and construction on most of the clothing made overseas. We really need to pay attention to what fast fashion is doing to these countries where the clothes are made.
I would NEVER open a video. I like reading content and yours is so informative.
Please stick to blogs about clothes and fashion, I have enough food/recipe and current event blogs that I visit.
Thanks so much Pamela, really enjoy “visiting” with you every day!
I enjoy following your blog and have for perhaps 5 years. Other than our age, we don’t have much in common but we are facing many of the same issues so I appreciate your insights. I live in snowy Canada; learning about Texas is interesting.
I don’t do Facebook or Instagram and have no plans to start so I’ll follow you on email as long as you’re there. I also tend to skip over videos on other blogs so that’s not an inducement for me.
I try to shop locally as much as possible so no major chains but I do like to see what’s on offer and to learn about trends.
I love your warmth and positivity and wish you were my neighbour. This is the next best thing.
First, I’d like to say that I enjoy reading your blogs daily. I would read them in any format. Secondly I would love to see a more response friendly survey maybe using survey monkey? That being said here are my answers one through 12.
Do you prefer fashion content over other topics? No, I enjoy lifestyle topics
Do you like for me to discuss beauty, health, home, travel and other topics? Yes!! More Texas travel would be so interesting.
Would you like to see more posts on the challenges of aging? Yes and dealing with aging parents (my Dad is 95 yo).
What other topics would you like for me to discuss that I don’t typically cover? Capsule wardrobes,
Understanding Gen Z, mental healthiness, life with disabled spouse
What are your favorite fashion brands and what brands are you NOT interested in? Casual chic is my wardrobe and I really dislike fast fashion.
What do you like that I do on the blog and what can you live without? I can live without recipes as I have a huge collection of my own. Also, as I have my own skin care routine, I pretty much skip those parts of the blog.
What do other blogs do that you like and wish I did? I would like to see more of your out and about in town at different towns in Texas. That would be really fun.
Have your shopping budget and needs changed? Yes I am now retired and only wear casual chic.
Do you like for me to share about my new home town, or not? Yes, this is my favorite topic.
Do you share my content with other women in your life and why or why not do you do that? No my friends pretty much dominate all our conversations. It is very hard to get a word in edgewise these days.
Are there any post topics I do that you would be sad if they went away…Example: Today’s News for Women Over 50. Dressing room Tryon I do enjoy those.
Is there anything I write about that you would like to see more of? More snippets of your life, your friends and family .
I have bookmarked your blog and discontinued the email subscription in an attempt to declutter my inbox. I generally read you blog with my morning coffee as its a positive way to begin the day. I rarely look at FB and almost never at Instagram. If you made a FB video and posted a link in the blog I would likely view it, otherwise I’d probably miss it. I wouldn’t mind a monthly newsletter if it contained information not already posted in your blog. Fashion is my favorite topic. I like your new more casual vibe. I also live in a small town so my look tends to be polished-casual. Makeup is my least favorite top. Health (including challenges of aging) and home interest me. Travel not at all. So many bloggers seem focused on travel. I read some of the articles on Wed but I don’t bother with the vegan or dessert recipes or celebrity topics. I am annoyed when I click on an interesting sounding article and the site wants me to subscribe in order to read it. When a video looks to be AI generated I usually quit watching it. My shopping budget is mid range & my needs haven’t really changed. I tend to shop mostly at J Jill and local boutiques, to a lesser extent lately at Chico’s, Talbot’s and Dillard’s. I think its good that you cover budget & higher end lines as well since we all have different tasted and budgets. Yours is the only blog I read daily. I have stopped reading a couple blogs I used to enjoy. One blogger has shifted to ultra expensive clothes like $400 sweaters, the other seems to be hawking everything under the son. I love hearing about your new town and your new adventures and also love hearing about your family.
What do you mean by website. I receive your info by email.
I have not been getting your e-mail’s since you moved; however, I do see your posts on Facebook. I do not read the Wednesday “Todays News”. It’s just too much and many of the articles I cannot open as I am not a subscriber to that particular news outlet. I do like all the various topics that you post about. I mainly shop at Dillard’s, Belk, Lane Bryant as those are the main stores within an hours drive from where I live. I do not shop the high end brands as I am now retired but want to look nice when going to the library, church and committee meetings. I try to wait for items to be on sale when shopping at Dillard’s. I am plus size so that knocks out Chicos brand for me. Thanks for all you do for older women! Of all the blogs I read, I look forward to yours most of all.
I do not use Facebook or Instagram so in order to follow email is preferred.
I enjoy your blog as is and really enjoy variety you currently present.
I do like posts on challenges and changes brought about by aging.
I enjoy the variety of brands you show. I’m more likely to visit Nordstrom or Dillards but have branched out to Chico’s (and others) after seeing items on the blog.
I particularly enjoy Sunday Reflections.
Definitely have different needs as I have aged and budgeting is always a consideration. I do appreciate that you show quality pieces that can be found on sale as well as less expensive items.
I especially enjoyed the fashion shows using everyday people in a variety of shapes and sizes.
Love hearing about new home town. Think it makes me more aware of what’s around me and what I might be missing whether in hometown or elsewhere.
I would definitely miss Sunday Reflections or fashion if they went away.
As an older Texan who has moved recently from long time home to be closer to kids and grand kids I find your blog very relatable and enjoyable. It is definitely a place of inspiration, encouragement ,
and education for me.
I e
I’m easy. I don’t mind emails and would look at Facebook as well.
I like a blog that discusses a wide variety of topics. I’m not a fashionista, so fashion centered blogs are not my favorite. I typically do a lot of my clothes shopping at Loft, Talbots, Nordstrom, and sometimes Amazon or Old Navy and Target.
I think your blog is a perfect example of what I enjoy: A mixture of fashion, decor, family life, and travel. I think more posts on the challenges of aging would be nice.
I don’t typically discuss blogs with others.
I enjoy your blog via email. If it didn’t appear there, I would rarely go looking for it (or any blog – I follow four others on email). I would not follow on Facebook or Instagram (invasive and totally different set-up). You are part of my morning coffee and breakfast! I would not watch regular videos – I tend to scroll quickly through them, or skip them completely on days I don’t have 15-20 minutes to view. Your range of topics is pleasing to me. It is like visiting with a friend. I like fashion and decorating tips; I appreciated your honesty on your travels through surgery; sharing your friends with us via try-on sessions; sharing your home, your family, your excursions, and your move; your honest recommendations. I love the vignettes of your home. I live in the boonies, so shop online at JJill, JCrew, Talbot’s, and Macy’s. We do have a Chico’s but I really only buy basics there – too trendy. I don’t mind higher end posts – you don’t do many; your wedding attire is a good example of needful, useful stretching budgets. You include “how” to use such clothing, so I can adapt tips to other brands. I trust you. I would miss “Today’s News” – I don’t read all the articles but find many to be good. It is a nice break away from clothing in the week. I do like book recommendations – though not fashion or decorating books. Recipes are not my jam, but I did successfully make your famous chocolate chip cookies! 🙂 Since retirement, my clothing has moved toward neat, casual styles. You remind me to invest in myself when I get ready for my day. I have cut way back in purchases and like to find new ways to use what I have. I love your jewelry, though mine is more sedate. Your blog has encouraged me to add more color to my outfits. The layout of your blog, choice of photos, and use of thoughtful quotes have definitely added to more JOY to my life. Thank you for seeing us as real people, as friends – you have a gift, Miss Pamela. Merry Christmas to you and yours, and to all of your blog community!
I check your blog every day. I stopped getting the e-mail for some reason, but I’m fine with that. I don’t do Instagram, & my Facebook news feed is hit or miss on what shows up there.
I agree the ads are somewhat annoying, but I know they are a necessity. They sometimes cover up part of the text, & occasionally, I am unable to get rid of them.
I like most of the topics you cover. If there is something I’m not interested in, I skip it.
I like the that you include both high end brands like Talbot’s & less expensive brands like JCP, Kohl’s & Old Navy. While some of the stores in your area are not in the Midwest, I still look at those items for ideas.
I already have my own skin care & makeup routines, so I usually skip those. I’m also not a fan of athleisure wear especially if it is pricey. A $100 sweatshirt is out of my league.
I love hearing about your transitioning to your new life.
My lifestyle is still evolving, but I still enjoy looking my best. I think your blog is very inspiring & encouraging in many ways.
Pam I would miss your email if it went away! You are my friend online. I read your blog every morning with my tea and bagel. I’m Leigh Ann’s size and am a summer cool palette former blond now white haired. I’m also disabled so my life is very quiet and mostly just in my home. My 80th birthday is Saturday. I’m interested in your fashion, love your try ons and can translate them to my size. I live in rural mountain town in Colorado and do all of my shopping online. As I am a retired nurse, my budget is small. I buy sales from Landsend, rarely now from LL Bean as they have gotten too expensive for me, Kohls and JCP, and thanks to you I have used your links to buy jeans from Chicos that fit really well. Ih really like your email blog as it is. I’m least interested in makeup and skin care as I have my own routine and I read some articles on Wednesday but have the same problem with not being able to open the articles as I don’t subscribe to any magazines. I have printed out cookie recipes but that is all. I’m very limited in my diet. I’m never on Facebook or Instagram as they are all ads and my family has pretty much dropped off of it. I love Sunday reflections and hear about you and your lovely family. I’m interested in seeing how you turn your mid century home into a cozy French farmhouse. I love all of your decorations for Christmas. I love your insight on growing older and all of our challenges. It is a window for me into Abilene, Texas life. You are so uplifting, honest and kind. Keep being you. I’m not a very big shopper but I do use your links. Oh and I have gotten several pairs of Easy Spirit shoes on sale plus your PAMELA20 discount! Thank you! You introduced that brand to me as well as Chicos. I love reading all of the comments. Your readers are friendly messages too. I love to listen to Audible books and look for book suggestions. Thank you for being you Pamela.
I appreciate the emails. I check my email every day, so even if I don’t have time to read your post right away, the reminder is there for later. Without the emails, I would likely forget to check for them. At the same time, I don’t really want a monthly newsletter or promotional emails. I doubt that I would watch the videos on Facebook either. The ads that pop up on your blog can be distracting, but I can live with them. I prefer a balance of topics… fashion for sure, but also, lifestyle, aging, health, home, travel, etc. Recipes don’t interest me though. Because I don’t live in the US and do very little online shopping, most of the brands that you feature aren’t available to me. I still get ideas from your fashion posts, but I don’t usually read the ones that feature cosmetics or beauty products. I do occasionally share ideas that I’ve learned from you on my blog, always giving you credit and linking to your blog, of course. I sometimes feel that you repeat key phrases too often. I realize that that has to do with SEO, but it can be annoying. That’s probably just the writing teacher in me coming through! The other thing that I think would improve the experience for your readers, especially those of us who read the comments regularly or who like to leave comments, would be if there was a way to set things up so that your response appeared immediately after the comment that you’re responding to. I’ve never seen another blog like yours where the blogger’s responses don’t do that. I appreciate being asked for input and hope this helps. I know that blogging regularly and keeping it relevant to your audience can be a challenge!
I really enjoy your blog and wouldn’t seek much of a change. That probably is not an answer that you are looking for. I usually read it from bed on my iPhone. It is delivered by email at 8, but I usually find it at 7 and enjoy a moment before I do my stretches. I notice that I scroll less and less on Instagram, and many sites of people that I follow often don’t present themselves to me before the ads and junk cause me to opt out. I am only on FB for specific fashion or art groups that I check infrequently. I must say that if you changed completely over to FB, I would try to daily seek you out. The up side might be that we would probably be able to comment directly under each other’s comments and be notified of such. This would be fun and encourage friendships based on similar interests, like color seasons or perhaps a book recommendation . I never know if I respond to someone that she ever sees it. Does anyone ever go back at the end of the day? We don’t know.
Although there are a few stores that you might visit that I don’t, I just scroll through and know that others may appreciate them. I would be sad to see Wednesday news disappear. Just like magazines of old, not every article interests me, but there are many that do and I appreciate your precious time spent culling them. I must say that I pay more attention to your recipes and tips (like European butter and great chocolate chip cookies) than recipes on Wednesday.
I am most interested in fashion, but I realize that you consider this a life style blog, not a fashion blog. I enjoy watching you, someone ‘like me’ , trying on clothing for us. That is one of my favorites. I miss Leigh Ann! I like seeing fashion videos that you link to. If I don’t relate to one, (very rarely, usually if I dislike the voice and wonder if it is AI), I just turn it off and hope it appeals to someone else. I usually don’t tune in to skin care, but I enjoy hearing about your town and life adjustments. I appreciate the personal issues that you share with us. It makes you feel like a good friend. I live a very casual life now with less reason to have many dressy clothes and I enjoy your style. It is similar to mine.
I would enjoy more of taking what we have and dressing it up. I wouldn’t mind a monthly newsletter if it had new content, but I don’t see the necessity of it. You offer so much daily. You have the most personal and enjoyable blog that I follow!
Dear Pam: I would only read your blog as an email. I am not on social media (not facebook or IG) I would watch a utube video. I was scammed in a big way on facebook so I will not go back. I like your fashion blog as you are currently doing it, but I also understand that your blog needs to make money or at least cover expenses. I don’t want to read about weight loss programs, though I think it’s great if people have success with them. I really enjoy your Sunday posts. I don’t think I would watch a video each morning. Thank you for your blogs. If I am in the minority and you do go to facebook etc., I will be sad, but understand.
My opinion
1. Not on social media so keep email. Daily preferred
Blog is fine as is
2. I like the variety as you are doing now
Brand.. Talbot because of petite, perhaps another brand with petite
Share your town
I share your blog occasionally with others
3. Continue as you are doing now
Thanks and Merry Christmas
Hi Pam,
I bookmark your blog and I do not have facebook or Instagram. Also, I would not watch videos if you posted them. I’m a creature of habit and read you every morning. I enjoy posts of your new home/town, your fashion features with all price points, Sundays with Pam, and I am enjoying the Wednesday articles more and more. I don’t cook but like that the recipes you share have ingredients that I can pronounce. I do make simple meals and am going to make your chocolate chips cookies when I’m off during Christmas. I love your French County home decorating style and how you have added your style to your new home. I really appreciate that you do not discuss politics. I like hearing about your new town and seeing pictures of the places/stores you visit. You have introduced me to new names, SAS shoes and Bryn Walker. I now mostly wear clothes in my color pallet and do not shop as much since I basically have everything I need. I wear scarves and different earrings to dress up my outfits. I enjoy pictures and stories of your grandkids and the interest stories of your son’s in-laws. I liked seeing their church, house and the history of their family. I enjoyed “walking” along side you during his wedding and your Alaskan cruise. I basically like everything. You have struggles like the rest of us. I have no interest in makeup or skin care. Although I love the Wednesday video feature, if they are remotely AI generated, I skip them. I appreciate how much effort and time you put into the blog for us. I also like reading the comments, you have developed a wonderful community of women. Yes, I share your blog when I feel it is relevant to my girlfriend’s interests. I would read a monthly newsletter if it were not a repeat of the blog, but that would take away from your blog. 🙂
I read a few other blogs but could honestly say you are the only one I could be friends with! Thank you again.
Hi Pamela!
Thank you for asking for your readers’ input!
Here we go…
Category 1
1. I am not on FB or IG so I would only read your blog via email.
2. I’m ok without a monthly newsletter/promos.
3. I would not see your videos because I am not on FB.
4. Nothing about your blog is frustrating.
5. You’re doing great, Pamela! I’m just glad you provide this blog!
Category 2
1. Yes, fashion is my fave.
2. Other topics are fun but I enjoy fashion the most.
3. Sure, include some challenges of aging. We are all headed in that direction!
4. Other topics that I enjoy are recipes, and life in Abilene.
5. Faves – Talbots, JCrew, Ann Taylor, Anthropologie, Free People, Banana Republic.
6. I really like your store/boutique visits and try-ons.
7. More photos of how clothes fit/color options are always welcome.
8. I have tried to scale back spending but it’s hard!
9. Yes, I really like hearing about your new hometown.
10. Just me and my little doggie get your blog, though I have shared it.
11. I would miss fashion if it were dropped as a topic.
12. I’d like to see more and read about your excursions out and about in Abilene. Coffee shops, boutiques, department stores, libraries, churches, parks. I think it could help keep people connected with others outside of their own surroundings. I am in California — I try not to be an out of touch Californian. I think this blog is a really nice thing you’ve got going!
Category 3
Thank you Pamela.
I wish you all the best and look forward to more of your awesome blog!
🤗
I am not on Facebook or Instagram so I would miss your posts if they weren’t on e-mail. I enjoy your fashion posts as well as hearing about your new home and city.
Hi Pam—I like your blog as is, but will continue to follow you if you choose to post on Facebook instead, which I check @ 3 times a week. Often, I don’t get to read emails and your blog until the evening when I have my husband in bed (I am his primary caregiver).
You made me aware of stores like Chico’s, Quince, and J.Jill—I didn’t think they were suitable for petites, but now I know otherwise. I normally shopped at Talbots because of their variety of choices when it comes to petite sizes, but recently I have ordered a few items from Land’s End and Banana Republic Factory with some success, and have in my wish list a couple of items from Chico’s. My style is now less dressy as I no longer work, but still love wearing jackets (now with jeans). You pointed us to Penney’s, and I need to check the website through your link as the prices are quite affordable. The same goes for Dillards—haven’t been there in years, and I need to check their website as well—you have shown us some very nice items from this store. Years ago, I bought a couple of very nice dresses from Dillards.
All in all, it has been very useful to learn about brands and stores that I never considered, forgot about, or didn’t know about. I loved your posts about shopping for your dress for your son’s wedding as well as how you put together your capsule for the Alaska cruise, with rationale and photos.
I have loved reading your posts about both your move and how you are discovering Abilene, and I hope you will continue to share with us in this context. I know that a move is likely for me in the future (I’m 80), and your positive attitude about your move has given me a great example of how to accept change without anxiety, and with an open mind.
I know you are likely to spend quite a bit of time putting together the Wednesday news post, but unfortunately, I often don’t get to read it completely because of the limited time that I have available while caring for my husband and taking care of everything else in our lives (among other things, he has developed dementia).
I don’t follow other blogs regularly—most are too commercialized. I like yours because you are sincere about your reviews, and you provide great topic variety in a most positive way.
Thank you for the time you spend on a daily basis creating positive content, both regarding fashion or otherwise.
Sorry I’m late to the party, bu I appreciate you being open to reader input and will do my best to answer all the questions.
Category 1:
I receive the emails but don’t use them to read daily. I have pinned a link to your site and try to check it daily. If I get behind I catch up when I can. I have accounts on FB and IG but use them sporadically; not sure I am following you on either, as I mainly use them to keep up with photos of my grandkids. I’ll check and add you, but would never go there for your daily content.
I would love to receive a monthly newsletter; like everything else, if topics were not of interest I could skip over them.
I have enjoyed your previous videos, but would rarely have time to watch one daily. I like to read my blogs while waiting in line or at doctor appointments, and don’t want to use headphones. I’m much more of a reader than a “watcher.”
I don’t have time to wade through the articles on Wednesday posts and many of them are not relevant to me, so I often skip those. I don’t cook unless I absolutely have to, and I have pretty much locked in my skin care, makeup and fitness routines, so I also pass up that content, but recognize that many others find it of value so that’s not a complaint.
I feel like any time I spend on your page is time spent with a friend, and can’t think of anything that’s missing.
Category 2:
I do prefer fashion content over some of your other topics, but am very aware that I am only one member of a large audience, and agree that there should be something for everyone.
I already have my beauty products locked in but love it when you talk about beauty as an idea or aspiration and what that means for us as women growing older, rather than specific products you’re promoting. I love keeping up with your health journey, as we share some similar challenges (foot surgery gone wrong, etc.) I also love to see how you’re decorating your home for each season and love hearing about your travels, especially your travel wardrobes.
I would enjoy more posts on the challenges of agina.
You already cover such a broad array of topics; I can’t think of anything to add.
My favorite fashion brands are JJill and Chico’s, and to an extent, Old Navy, because all three have tall size options. You had me shopping at Kohl’s again until they converted their store card to a major credit card. I like the cute, preppy vibe of Talbot’s but their things rarely fit, so if I shop there it’s usually an accessory purchase. I did buy the sweater you got your daughter and it is going to be a favorite for years – the perfect weight for Texas winters! I’m out on F&E, Clara Sun Woo and some of the other more “boutique” brands you feature, but would never suggest you stop featuring them. I love seeing a high end look that I can replicate at a lower price point. I loved your slide shows with lots of choices for the same type of item.
I read almost everything on the blog except the skin care posts and the Wednesday news roundups.
I don’t read any other blogs regularly but yours, which always feels like a good visit with a friend.
I’m retired and recently had an additional income decrease, and I just paid cash for my dream house so shopping will be a luxury for me in the future. I’ve always spent around $5,000 annually on clothes and accessories, and hope to reduce that to less than $2,000. I don’t really “need” anything, and if I would lose the weight I gained in the past year I would have more clothes than I could ever wear in this lifetime. With a new home to furnish and decorate I will be more focused on buying for the house in the coming year. I love seeing the things you find at Home Goods, Marshalls and TJMaxx and how you incorporate them into your home.
I love hearing about your new life in Abilene, but I’m only two hours from you and have spent time there. Other readers might feel differently, but I think it’s important that you have modeled such a gracious transition from a beloved place to a new one made for all the right reasons. I know that is a challenge, and I can use your example as a model when I face similar challenges in this chapter of my life.
I do occasionally share your content with links, but more often I will say “My friend Pam said…” like you and I just had breakfast together. (Because we DID, at my kitchen table!) I don’t have too many female friends who are in this life stage, so much of what is discussed here is not relevant to them.
I would really miss the in-store try-on sessions if you stopped doing them, but I know it’s harder in a new setting. Since you and I have similar coloring, height and build I love seeing items on you for an idea how they would fit me.
I would love to see more on color theory and personal color analysis, and more in-depth content on style words and how we choose them. I am finding that most of mine are less relevant in this new life stage, but they are hard to replace with any I like as well. (“Tailored and elegant” looks ridiculous in the floor playing monster trucks with my favorite three year old boy!) I found some books that offered help in choosing style words and would be glad to share names and titles with you if others are interested in this topic. Even those who chose their words when you first discussed it might need to revisit them and make sure they are still relevant in the life they are living today. If I’m in the minority I’ll just find more books on the subject.
#3 – Other thoughts
Someone else mentioned enjoying your mention of books you were reading. I’m guessing you haven’t had much time for reading in this life transition, but would love to see book suggestions from you or your readers. Perhaps you could pick a genre you like and ask readers for their favorites in that category. For example, your readers who love both fashion and mysteries might enjoy a favorite series of mine by Ellen Byerum, the “Crimes of Fashion” series. I normally don’t read mysteries, but a friend who loves them recommended them to me because she knows how I love clothes. Those of us who proposed books we love could write a short paragraph saying what we enjoyed about it. Not like an entire book report, more like what we would tell a friend over lunch when recommending a recent favorite read.
At the end of the day, I hope your readers recognize that this is YOUR space and your platform, which you have graciously built into a community for all of us. You shouldn’t have to censor your world view or desire to share your faith because someone only wants to read about what’s on sale at Chico’s. My only other suggestion might be to create a group space (I guess on FB?) where we can more easily reply to other readers’ comments. I am part of a women’s group of 65 members that spans seven countries. We formed in July, 2014 around a now-defunct blog on over-shopping, and connected through the blog comment section. We took that to FB and grew the group to almost 3,000 members. It got out of hand and turned into a lot of drama, so the original core group split off and formed a private group to maintain what we originally found on the old blog. Real friendships have been formed, and I am currently organizing our fourth meetup (first since COVID) to coincide with a group member’s visit from New Zealand. She and her husband will be staying with me for three weeks, and I’m going to play tour guide for them all over Texas. We will meet up with the group in Houston, where another member’s husband works for NASA’s Johnson Space Center and will give us a private tour. My local friends are amazed that I’m having “strangers” stay with me, but it doesn’t feel that way at all. We have been actively building these relationships for over ten years, so I know that miraculous things can happen when like-minded women connect in a safe space. I always read all the comments, but often wonder if the person I was responding to sees my comments to them.
Again, thanks for opening up this forum to allow us to suggest ways to make it work better for us. Just remember, it has to work for YOU first!
I love the blog as if is – some fashion, some family info, its just interesting! I wouldn’t change a thing and I never compare one blogger to another. You are you and we love you as you are!
My very favorite days are when you do include dressing room try ons, either just you alone or with Leigh Ann or a guest. That’s always fun!
I like the blog as is and especially enjoy the homey feel with all the shared comments. I do not use social media so prefer email. I do not watch any of the videos. Perhaps a feature on capsule wardrobes would be helpful as well as more affordable options for retirees.
I have your blog bookmarked and generally check it everyday along with a couple of others so I don’t need an email but would not mind receiving one.
I enjoy the Wednesday “info” blog. However, I generally do not watch videos because I’m an “antsy” person and it takes so long to see/hear something that I could have read (and seen pictures) in a much shorter period of time.

I have your blog ( and a few others) pinned to favorites on my Kindle with an icon. I love to sit down with a cup of tea in the afternoon and read through my pinned blogs. It would not be so enjoyable scrolling or searching through Facebook. I love your content just as is! I especially love photos of places and scenery.
I am very surprised by the number of people who don’t read the Wednesday blog; I enjoy it!! That post probably takes the most time so I would understand if you chose to drop it or post it monthly. I enjoy the day-in-the-life posts: where you went, what you wore, what you whipped up for dinner. Many long time bloggers seem to have run out of content and post a few pictures with about 5 sentences. You take the time to make stopping by worth while. I am trying not to purchase more clothing at this time since I have two full closets. My mission is to utilize what I currently have. I only view the blog on your website as I do not have social media accounts. Thank you for taking the time everyday to entertain all of us: it is your kindness that brings me back everyday.
For some reason, I realized I am not getting your emails lately, so I came to your website. I prefer email. I don’t have an account on either facebook or instagram, so if you were to choose those, I would be out of luck. I don’t intend to make a facebook account! It is very hard to look at videos – they don’t show up due to my privacy settings, so I have to go to a different browser, find the blog post, then play the video. Usually, I am reading the blog while hubby and I are both checking email or watching tv, so I don’t watch the video at all because the sound would be rude. The blog is great the way it is, with a good mix of fashion, makeup, skin care, Wednesday news, your personal stories, books, faith, and etc. It is great to be exposed to clothes that are available at a range of retailers and I prefer a mix of high end (nice to look at for ideas) and much much more affordable options (I might actually buy something). All are good for seeing what is current and you are great at showing us how to combine colors and items. I appreciate your efforts!
Hi Lois, I am going to keep email, but I am not happy with my email provider so I am researching a better way. I will keep everyone informed as I look at other options, but it is clear to me now that the majority want the email.
Do you prefer fashion content over other topics? Yes. I’d like to see the fashion content expanded. You do such a wonderful job talking about fashion, it would be great to see more lifestyles, body types, and fashion styes (boho chic, elevated casual, minimalist- you get the idea!) represented. I’d appreciate posts on dressing outfits up and down with accessories so our outfits can do double duty and so we can get ideas on how to repurpose what’s in our closets with accessories. Do you like for me to discuss beauty, health, home, travel and other topics? I’d enjoy more home topics. Would you like to see more posts on the challenges of aging? Yes. What do other blogs do that you like and wish I did? Posts on hobbies and enjoying both simple and guilty pleasures at this stage of life are fun and I enjoy them. What do you like that I do on the blog? I like the day in the life posts and I love that you are you – not a cardboard copy of other influencers! I like that you write thoughtful posts and don’t overuse photos and videos. I like that you maintain this blog and don’t rely solely on social media to connect with your followers. Do you like for me to share about my new home town, or not? Yes! It makes us feel more connected to you. Thanks for all you do!
Many Thanks for the Blog. I do enjoy it. Articles and pics of no interest to me are skipped all depending on time and mood. I appreciate capsule clothing style, Sunday Reflections and aging gracefully. My favorite scripture is “The joy of the Lord is my strength.” All God’s best! With His Song, glo

8. I am a very economical person: I have lots of great clothes that I have bought economically. I don’t dress up as much since we now live in the NC mountains.
