HOW TO ELEVATE WINTER OUTFITS OVER 50: OUTFIT-OF-THE-DAY

One of the best ways for me to elevate winter outfits over 50 is to add tweed jackets…even to my jeans.

The texture of tweed just takes anything to elevated style and there are many ways to wear it now.

I cannot link to this lovely tweed jacket from Talbot’s (originally purchased it in the Red Door Sale), but here are a few other suggestions you may have missed:

This CHICO’S TEXTURED PONTE BLAZER is not tweed, but has the same style message as my tweed jacket….English Cream is a nice winter white color.

Texture always helps to elevate winter outfits and your jeans.

Talbot’s has given us a more casual tweed option, but still works to elevate winter outfits.

This is the TALBOT’S TWEED MOTO JACKET.

This would look super cute with black denim and leather black boots.

If you are looking to elevate winter outfits with more fun, consider this tweed jacket.

It is the TALBOTS CANDY TWEED FRINGE TOPPER.

I have seen this jacket at Kohl’s and like it.  The quality felt good.

This is the KOHL’S WOMENS NINE WEST CROPPED BUTTON-FRONT JACKET.

I also have a few more options in my post 2024 FASHION TRENDS: TWEED.

Back to my outfit-of-the-day, my blouse is washable silk from Quince.

I am wearing the QUINCE WASHABLE SILK TIE NECK BLOUSE in navy (comes in 7 colors).

The tie neck is current and creative for my personal style messages.

However, Quince sells a lovely blouse without the tie in fifteen colors.

It is the QUINCE WASHABLE STRETCH SILK BLOUSE…and ladies, this silk is NOT out, but very comfortable and affordable.

These blouses are so lovely that they definitely elevate winter outfits when you wear one.

My pants on today’s look are the CHICO’S TRAVELER’S CLASSIC NO TUMMY PANTS in indigo blue (navy).

These pants will elevate your winter outfits for any occasion…don’t wrinkle at all…and are super comfy.

I have worn the classic Traveler’s for years…they wash really well.

HOW TO ELEVATE WINTER OUTFITS OVER 50: OTHER TIPS

elevate winter outfits

An easy way to elevate winter outfits are with brooches or pins.

You can see I am wearing a simple evergreen brooch today.

The majority of my brooches were purchased at MACY’S and JC PENNEY for very little…I love the options and wear these more in the winter.

This is also a great gift idea for women in your life…I love to receive them as gifts.

Many winter outfits are in darker colors.

So, another way to elevate winter outfits is with bright nail colors.

Currently, I am wearing Christmas red.

These are my daughter’s feet and shoes.

One way we both elevate winter outfits is with fun footwear.

In my outfit, I am wearing metallic gold, and she is wearing TIEKS LEOPARD PRINT BALLET FLATS.

Yes, these are a bit pricey, but for a working, very busy mom, the cushioning on the bottom keeps her moving and happy.

  1. Beautiful jackets! Don’t forget the under layers that we northern women may wear! Mine come out in October. I have two pairs of long silky bottoms that fit like a glove under all pants without adding bulk. I have a few silky tops with different necklines that no one sees. Yesterday I had on a jersey top and quilted warm vest to wear around the house, but also an undetectable silky top to keep me warm. I have a pair of silky shorts for skirts as well as fleece lined tights. Maine coastal living is damp and cold. It is in the 20s at the moment, but feels like 15!

  2. I love winter fashion because that third piece really makes elevating your style easier. After you told me not to declutter my scarves :), I decided I would give myself time to wear them, and if I didn’t, I would toss them. So I’ve rediscovered them and have been elevating with scarves again. I would love to see how you use scarves casually. You too seem to have stopped wearing them!

  3. I’ve been looking at tweed coats/blazers for months now and just have not “bitten the bullet” and bought one. There is a beautiful pink and purple one I’ve had my eye on. Now I’m waiting for the after Christmas sales as the ones I like are quite expensive for my budget around this time. I’m sure there are reasonable ones out there but living in a small town, I usually have to order any clothing online. Your winter white or cream jacket looks very elegant with the navy blouse and pants.

  4. Pam, you look stunning! Winter white is so classy and always has an elevated look. I haven’t had a chance to answer the survey questions yet, but will do so in the next few days.

  5. I have really liked the tweed jackets. Your navy and winter white outfit is great. Thanks for sharing

  6. I am wearing them but have not shown those outfits…I will make sure to take pictures when I do, Linda. I apologize that it appears that I do not wear them. I will remember!

  7. I also am waiting for after Christmas on a couple of items I have my eye on…and I believe another Talbots Red Door Sale looms soon after. I understand Celia.

  8. Commenting on your survey…Please keep it as an email blog. I would not watch a video and would not want it on FB or Insta. Although I understand why there would be interest in clothes from Walmart, when I see that topic, I don’t read it at all. The news stories are often interesting. Fashion and what’s new is my primary reason for subscribing.

  9. I have always loved winter white outfits, even though it’s a tough color for me to wear. It just looks so elegant, and even the simplest pieces look “elevated.” I have a winter white cable knit sweater I wear with a scarf and quilted vest to add some color near my face, and you’ve reminded me that I need to get it out. I still haven’t switched over my closets, as it just started cooling off in the past couple of weeks , but it’s colder than predicted today in north Texas (mid-40’s and falling) so winter wear is on my mind. I need to pull together a couple of good holiday outfits and just wear them on repeat. I have very few holiday events this year, and don’t need a lot of different options. I look forward to seeing more of how you’re dressing for events this season, from casual family time to church and more dressy events. Here’s to making some great memories in your new hometown!

  10. You look lovely in your winter white and navy outfit! The tweed moto jacket in white and the grey tweed Kohls jacket would be nice to wear here. A blazer is a no for my rural mountain town in Colorado. It was 12 degrees last night and it snowed all day and most of the night here. It is now at our high of 35 degrees and sunny so a little melt is going on. It is a wool socks, I wear my old Smart Wool ones, boot leg jeans from Chicos and a flannel shirt from Kohls. My Easy Spirit clogs arrived today! They called Travel something but look like a sweater on the outside and short faux fur on the inside. I’m so happy that they fit and can be used as slippers with an arch support and a good sole for wearing anywhere but they are slippers to me! I bought them for my 80th birthday Saturday! I love Easy Spirit and I am so grateful that you introduced them to me.

  11. I think winter white definitely elevates an outfit. I like cooler weather because adding a jacket or cardigan automatically makes a casual outfit a bit dressier. After reading an earlier post, I went looking for some fun brooches to add to my jackets. I wore a pumpkin brooch on my jean jacket all fall long. Today, I added a cardinal brooch to a corduroy jacket that I wore to a lunch out with friends. It looked very festive.

  12. Beautiful jackets and I really liked the one from Kohls. You really are enjoying your new home and town it shows in your posts.
