Hello Pamela, I loved this video as a petite lady myself. I agree bulk and oversized clothing only exaggerate pettite-ness and overwhelms the frame. Properly fitted clothing is a big help for anyone and I’m so happy you posted this. Who is the British narrator?
I don’t wear heels but she gives great alternatives.
Stay warm🥶

Hi Sandra, Glad. you enjoyed it. It looks like her name is Elvira Hartwell. It is honestly difficult today to know if someone is real or AI, but you can subscribe to her channel and see other videos she has made. It does not cost anything to do that.
I rarely watch long videos online but I absolutely loved Bunny Williams Home Tour. While I could not live with so many accessories , no matter how lovely and interesting, on every surface it was fun to see hers. Each one has a story to tell and I think she would love to tell us each story if she had time. I am attracted to her decor and would love to live in scaled back version of her style. In my next life I want to have a conservatory like hers. So I am very much looking forward to her book with is currently in transit to my library. I’m petite so I found the video on petite “don’ts” interesting and tend to agree with some of her advice particularly oversize clothing and large & busy prints. I was surprised that she kept recommending long, very full skirts which I don’t find flattering on petites. Like very wide leg pants, they look better on the tall & willowy types. And I keep meaning to tell you how much I enjoy the photos you share with the articles every Wednesday.
Hmm. Lots of interesting articles as usual! Because this is a busy packing to travel day for me, I will just comment on the fashion video. I used to be 5’6”, but between hip surgery 10 years ago and aging, I am a hair under 5’4”. That places me right on the line of petite in height. I would like to say that most of the tips were the same that my color and style analyst gave me 4 or 5 years ago without even mentioning the word petite. I follow most of them, but I never focus on my waist with a belt, and I do wear some oversized pieces. I keep everything straight but close to my body. I love an open sweater coat and a tossed scarf. Rules are meant to be broken. Isn’t that what style is about, especially if you want to be noticed and not boxed in. I love it when a friend texts me a piece and says that she thought of me when she saw it! All in all, I thought this was a good video!
Thanks Kathie…on the photos…I enjoy searching them out…but I seek out free photo services. I also attempt to keep the color schemes complimentary each week. It is fun for me to play with graphics every now and then. Thanks for sharing on the videos.
I kind of balk at “rules.” I prefer to say that style is meant to be very personal and unique to you. I have always had a problem with painting a broad brush over groups of women. Perhaps, why I love teaching the style adjectives that are unique to you. On me, even at 5’7″. I feel like I look older in maxi skirts and dresses. I try every now and then, but have struggled with the style for years. Have a wonderful trip, Deborah…where ever you are going…may it be joyous and safe.
I am amazed at how many of the women in the video are over-50 bloggers that I currently follow. I sure hope that the woman who created this video had permission to use their images. I will say that many of the bloggers I recognize are not petite. Actually, only one of them, Susan, is under 5’4″.
It is so difficult to select videos for this feature, Kathy. I agree there are many that “borrow” images and don’t give thought to their actual size. I have even considered stopping the feature because of this. You may have just moved that decision along.
I want to offer topics of importance to the reading audience, but sometimes it is very difficult to discern what is a legit pieces of work.
Thanks for the work you put into each post. Especially liked the videos today.
The Bunny Williams video was great! I enjoyed the tour of her home, gardens, barn and studio. It was interesting to hear her ideas and see how her home developed over the years of collecting with her husband. I can’t imagine cleaning those large buildings. Dusting would take a full time staff! The same with the gardens. As a retired woman, 80 and disabled, it is hard to help my husband with the maintenance of our small house but the simple design is perfect for us. I still enjoy seeing many different design styles. The petite video was okay. It really didn’t take into consideration the way our petite bodies change as we age. It sure didn’t offer shoes appropriate for painful feet. I never could wear pointed shoes as my toes are wide and no heels ever. I have no desire to dress for fashion’s sake. I dress to please myself. I try to look nice everyday but I must be comfortable and able to live my quiet casual life in my clothes. These very important aspects were not addressed. So not impressed with the video. I found the health articles informative and read all of them. Good job Pamela a wide interest blog today.
the thing is the models in the petite video were not petite so …
another thing is bras- could you show some bras for women with sagging breasts as gravity happens- love your blog because you are real!!
Thanks for letting me know, Audrey!
I imagine Bunny can afford a cleaning staff…she leads a different life from me, but still inspired me in many ways. I am glad overall that you enjoyed the post today.
Thanks Sydney.
Thank you Jill. I will write something about bras in one of the posts next week.
I also recognized several of the women in the photos and had the same thought, they are not petite. All in fun though. I am only 5’3″ however I love the over sized trend. I do try to make sure outfits are flattering but I also want to be ‘me’. Love reading the articles on Wednesday’s.
Loved both videos. Thank you so much. I will never have the scope of Bunny Williams’ homes, but I can still use some of her good ideas. Regarding the advice for petites of which I am at 5’3″, I agree with most of what is said, particularly being wary of a shoe with a high ankle strap. I have learned that flats with pointed toes look good under pants and that a shorter jacket length is also good for me. I struggle with the idea of knee length skirts because although I agree, it means wearing tights or hose which are sort of annoying. I do have several longer skirts which hit mid shin, and I wear them. The top that Bunny Williams had on in this video was very interesting. thanks again, Mary
Yes, Missy, be you! You wear your confident best. I am proud of you for speaking up.
You are welcome, Mary! Glad you enjoyed.
So glad I made time for the Bunny Williams video, which surprised me several times, in a good way. I loved the story about her leaving a room undecorated for five years because she couldn’t afford to do anything with it at that point. Definitely not what I would have expected to hear from someone with such a fabulous estate. I was also shocked at her habit of hanging art on her bookcases in front of the books. I think that might be an indication that you’ve officially run out of space – LOL. I was so intrigued by her story about the first time she saw the property and the very physical reaction she had when she knew immediately that she would end up living there. I had a similar experience when I found the house I’ve been in for nearly 20 years, and it was very interesting to hear from someone whose experience was similar. I felt like she was giving me permission to do what I want to do with my next house, and I want to listen to it again while it’s fresh on my mind. Thank you for continuing to bring us such a wide range of well-curated content. I know it must require a lot of research and time, but you always have something in which I can find a point of connection.
Bunny has convinced me to be patient…though as I get older…waiting five years doesn’t really seem like an option! I enjoyed the video so much, I just had to share it.
