A spring palette outfit for lunch

spring palette outfit

Happy St. Patrick’s Day, ladies! Today I share my first toe in the water with new colors in a spring palette outfit for lunch.

As I begin a new life in a spring palette outfit, please know that I am “gently” moving forward and learning about new colors.

For anyone news, please read the color palette posts, MY JOURNEY WITH COLOR ANALYSIS and REVIEW OF HOUSE OF COLOUR COLOR ANALYSIS.

I was thrilled to hear from one of our regular readers, Jeanine, and she asked if I wanted to meet for lunch.

Jeanine previously lived in Abilene and still has friends and family here so she occasionally travels here to visit.

A new love and new marriage took her to another city.

This is the second time since moving that a reader has reached out for lunch and I am loving it.

It just happened that we had scheduled this at a time when I would be in a new spring outfit.

Come here about the spring outfit and a little about our lunch….(sorry that I do not have green for you today…but it will be back!)

A SPRING PALETTE OUTFIT: THE COLOR

spring palette outfit

I know this spring palette outfit is very simple, but it will take me awhile to learn about prints and my new colors.

What is new in the spring palette outfit is the yellow top.

It is easy for me to add layering pieces right now, since the weather allows for the jackets and cardigans over the spring palette colors.

There are several colors in my new Spring Palette Fan that I did not have in my current wardrobe.

So, I took the fan and ordered a few pieces from Chicos and Talbots  see if they would work.

This is one of the colors that did work…you will see Corn Yellow has two stars in my palette and I believe this top matches.

The color at Chico’s is called Golden Haze.

I am wearing the TOUCH OF COOL 3/4 SLEEVE TEE (on sale), and I also ordered the MICROFIBER TANK In golden haze.

As we move closer to summer, I may be able to find the Canary Yellow color and add it…you will see it has three stars and is in my top best colors.

My jeans are my standard CHICO’S GIRLFRIEND JEANS that I have owned for a very long time.

I am wearing the Chico’s off-white denim jacket that I also have owned for a very long time.

But, I tell you, this beauty is calling my name….FLORAL CUTOUT DENIM JACKET.

I love the creative design…but the alabaster may be too cool for my warm palette.

Hopefully, I can see one soon.

Another piece I have owned a long time is my Chico’s necklace with lemons and rope.

This was my touch of creative (my style adjectives are polished, creative, approachable, current and joyful).

I have not worn this necklace very often, but I believe I will now that I am styling a spring palette outfit each day.

My accessories are mostly gold, but I was able to find scarves that will now go with my spring palette…so I will get a bit more creative soon with styling.

You can see here that just with my old pieces that my wardrobe is now brighter.  I have moved out the majority of the very dark colors.

I am hoping that some of these old colors you see here will work.

I am working on also finding prints…like the lovely print Jeanine wore…to add to my spring palette outfit selections.

This is a work in progress…thank you for going on the journey with me.

A SPRING PALETTE OUTFIT: JEANINE

spring palette outfit

Jeanine is a precious over -50 lady who I really enjoyed getting to know.

She is a cute petite and her outfit was as bright as her personality…say “HI” to her the next time you see her pop up in the comments.

Her shoes were also very cute.

She is one stylish West Texas girl.

Jeanine and her new husband do many things, but they also suit up in the white protective gear and raise bees!

I was so excited to be gifted her organic, pure honey…which is delicious!

A SPRING PALETTE OUTFIT : THE EATERY

spring palette outfit

We selected a new eatery where I would wear my spring palette outfit.

It is called SWEET THYME KITCHEN, and the food was excellent.

I had a spinach and pear salad with a scoop of chicken salad.

Jeanine and her husband are having great success with the carnivore diet… so she enjoyed the BLT sandwich (though admitted the bread was a treat)

Thank you, Jeanine, for contacting me about going to lunch…it was lovely.

And thanks to everyone else for joining us today as I share my first spring palette outfit for lunch.

I will say once again that it is so much fun to be wearing a spring palette outfit as the season of SPRING begins!  See you tomorrow….

KEEP SMILING!

  1. Your new Spring color outfit does truly make you shine! I’m like you in that I’m most comfortable when I’m wearing a third piece and am drawn to decorative jackets like the embroidered one from Chico’s. If I didn’t already have several Chico denim jackets, I’d be tempted to get another. I have just got to go through my closets as you have done and sort out what fits and what doesn’t. I’m bad about hanging on to items in case…in case what, I’m not sure. What a nice compliment it is to you that a reader feels comfortable reaching out to you to meet. You make us all feel as if we know you and would enjoy meeting you for lunch!

  2. Pamela, what fun to have lunch with Jeanine. You both look beautiful. The spring colors are definitely for you. You look vibrant and you are glowing!!

  3. Pam – I’m so excited you are a SPRING palette now! This is my color palette as well and sometimes I struggle finding things in this color range. I’m looking forward to seeing what you find. Some of the colors in that range were out of my comfort zone initially, and I still find myself not looking at them, but I’m sure your outfits will encourage me to give them a try. Spring looks great on you!

  4. You look lovely in yellow! It’s refreshing to see you in this new palette! Yellow has always been one of my favorite colors evoking happiness and joy. Jeanine’s blouse is a very pretty print! Good for her for reaching out to you; meeting new friends is not so easy at any age but especially as we get older.

  5. You two looked absolutely gorgeous! I love your outfit, and don’t see it as simple at all … the green bag, gold shoes and especially the lemon necklace truly elevate the look. When looking at that bit of palette you shared, I spied the bright parrot green … get yourself some of that! I still think green is your signature color. In your “Autumn phase,” every shade of green you wore looked great on you. Now that you are wearing lighter colors, I see that you are indeed a spring (though the “vibrant” part of vibrant autumn looked good too). What is kind of frustrating, and may well lead me to having my colors officially done, is it can be hard to decide what season you are … yet, when you do see it, you see it. And what is seen can never be unseen. And P.S., I’ve seen the alabaster at Chicos and it’s pretty white.

  6. Isn’t it wonderful how a single item (top) in your new colors can pop and make you feel fresh. The purse looks great with it all, and will work with many of your new things going forward. I am afraid that a lunch meet up would be difficult since I am so very far away, but it would be fun. How nice that a few followers are reaching out. Have fun.

  7. I thought I remembered that you are a spring! That is exciting, Sabrina. I will share with you what I learn…it is day one for me.

  8. I am so blessed that two members of this audience now have reached out to meet for lunch. I love it and we instantly have things in common. In a new city, these two lunches have meant the world to me.

  9. Thanks so much, Diane. I would love to meet everyone here face to face…how fun that would be!

  10. You will see a little green on the blog tomorrow…going out in it today…it is St. Patrick’s after all. I agree with you…when you hit the right colors and see them for yourself…it is pretty evident and amazing. Thanks for the heads up on the white.

  11. The new color palette is so pretty. I think sometimes we get stuck in a rut and assume a new color won’t work, so we don’t even try it. I lean towards summer, but have some colors that probably aren’t totally right, but I like them. When I put on an outfit my gut tells me if it works or not and I go with it. Have fun with your new colors, especially if you love them!

  12. Thanks Barb…these days I am letting my face and neck area tell me the colors to wear…that is where it really makes a difference for me. I am sending the majority of the old autumn colors on their merry way today…I love those colors, but they are not my best. You have fun with yours also.

  13. How fun! I’m thrilled you found Kimberly Clay to do your colors! She is such a delight, was a teacher previously and taught one of my grandsons in elementary. My daughter and I had Kim do our colors about three years ago and I’m a Summer. It’s been so nice to know which “lane” to stay in when purchasing new clothes. Glad you found another lunch friend…what a treat. We need to do that again sometime!

  14. What fun to “meet” Jeanine and see both of your spring outfits! I can only imagine how much you both enjoyed that lunch. It’s so exciting to see you take your first steps into life with a spring color palette, and this outfit was truly a winner. I agree with Linda LM that this is much more than a “basic” outfit because of the way you have accessorized it. The lemon necklace was the perfect touch to tie it all together, and I love seeing that gorgeous green bag in regular rotation. I’m wondering if you and other readers change bags to match their outfits or stick with one color or neutral for a season? The aqua top with embroidery on the sleeves really jumped out at me in the photo of your closet. I’ll bet that looks amazing on you, and hope it will turn up in photos one of these days. I could read about your evolving colors and style every day and not get tired of it. I especially admire how readily you are embracing your new color palette. When I received mine in 2014, I was very disappointed because I disliked so many of the colors that were recommended. I slowly incorporated some them into my wardrobe, but wasn’t open to wearing most of them for several years and there are some I still don’t wear. Perhaps you could address (or ask Kim, your color consultant) how we should proceed if we truly dislike our “best” colors but want to enjoy the benefits of wearing what flatters us most. Do we just hone in on the one or two colors we hopefully like in the recommendations? Also, was contrast addressed in your consultation? That was the hardest part of my color analysis to understand and incorporate. I had a full printed page explaining it, and I would read that over and over without getting it. I finally reached out to my consultant (Bethany Siggins in Dallas) and this was the explanation she gave me: Think about Snow White’s coloring – pale skin, ruby lips and black hair, which is high contrast. Now think about Oprah Winfrey’s coloring – brown eyes, brown skin, brown hair, so therefore very low contrast. Most of us fall somewhere in between these extremes and our contrast can change with age as our hair goes grey, etc. My contrast was rated “medium” by my consultant, so my best outfits will be those with medium contrast. I formerly wore striped Breton tees all the time; now I choose those with less contrast like aqua and navy instead of navy and white. If your outfit contrast is high and your personal color contrast is low, people will see the outfit without seeing you or as some say, the outfit will be wearing you. This took me forever to grasp, but implementing that idea has made almost as much difference for me as wearing more of my best colors. I’m wondering if that is part of the House of Color assessment process? I think you would be low contrast with light skin, hair and eyes and today’s low contrast outfit shines on you, so maybe there’s something to this aspect of it. Looking forward to seeing your green outfit for St. Patrick’s Day – I’m about to put mine on and go volunteer at my church.

  15. Lovely! You have dipped your toe into the waters of spring. On my monitor, the navy pants look like bright navy, so the outfit looks like complete spring. It is always interesting to me to compare my bold, deep autumn to springs. There are crossovers. For instance, it is not in my palette book, but my analyst told me in the summer I could wear the inside and outside colors of a banana. Oh, you are going to have fun. You look great. You have given many of your readers food for thought about being analyzed or going for a re-rate. One aspect I have a question about is that my good friend is a bright spring and my daughter is a light spring. Their palettes have definite differences. Your palette says both light and bright. I guess different systems use different typing. Have fun. It is nice to see Jeanine.

  16. Pam, you look absolutely fabulous and SHINE in the yellow and cream. Well done! Glad you got to meet a fan and share time together. A fun way to celebrate all things Spring.

  17. Yellow does look very good with your lovely complexion. I like it but look jaundiced in it. Only cool colors work on me. Jeanine looks great in her printed blouse which is cooler colors. She looks to be my size and similar complexion. Only I have mostly white hair. It will still be fun watching you find your way with spring colors. It would be wonderful to lunch with you! But I also live far away in Colorado. Hello to Jeanine!

  18. I always thought I was a Winter (self rated) and was shocked to be draped and told I was a Spring. Like you, Pam, I felt totally clueless when it came to shopping for those new colors. What helped me a great deal was kettlewellcolours.co.uk. This website rates every item by the season for which it is most appropriate. Items are well made and classic. Sizing can be a bit tricky but reading comments is also helpful. Orders over $125 ship free but take about 2 weeks, so I usually opt for the DHL service for $10 and they arrive in 3-4 days.

  19. There is so much here, but bottom line…I will ask Kim about what you experienced and were told. Also, I just recently decided that I am going to change my purses often…just for the fun of it. I change out every other accessory, so why not purses. The beautiful strawbags at Straworth will be part of my purse story for spring and summer. I am glad you spoken with your consultant and I will ask Kim about contrast when I can.
    Thanks!

  20. I think of my palette as warm and bright…rather than light & bright…I think my colors are deeper and warmer than most pastels. I hope my daughter will do this sometime soon. I am curious as to what she would be. Thanks Deborah…it is fun!

  21. I so want to have more of the BRIGHT in my closet, but it is not the same bright as before.

  22. Yes! I have been visiting Kettlewell since the day I was first called a Vibrant Autumn. It can help with ideas. I have not purchased their products because I usually can find what I am looking for in the brands I know my sizes with…like the Chico’s I am wearing today. Thanks Ann.

  23. Thank you Cathy. Before learning about colors, I never would have considered Spring a warm color palette…but now that I am studying it…it certainly is…in a much different way from Autumn.

  24. Lovely spring yellow top. Your outfit is fresh looking and polished with well thought out jewelry and accessories. So nice the Jeanine reached out to you & you were able to meet for lunch. Looking forward to seeing your St. Patrick’s Day green. Very interesting comment from Texas Aggie Mom about contrast. That’s something I needed to learn after letting my hair go natural and moving from medium to low contrast. I’ve read that Springs and Winters can do high contrast than Summers and Winters. I don’t know if that’s true but contrast is a very interesting topic. I’m an artist and know that value contrast is has a strong impact on the message of a composition.

  25. Thanks for sharing Kathie…as soon as I can get this on my calendar to research and interview…I will do my best to learn more.

  26. Your yellow top and jeans are a favorite combo for me and you look great with the shade of yellow you are wearing. Hope it is ok to make a suggestion for a second outfit. Yellow top, denim jacket and off white jeans or crops. I know you will be great as you find the beauty of the combination of colors for Spring.

  27. Lunch was such a treat. Thank you for making time to meet with me. I’m so glad you enjoyed the honey!! Wearing spring colors always lifts the spirits. You are such a joy Pam!

  28. So are you, Jeanine…some readers would like to know where you got your SHOES!
