A day out in a spring palette green
Happy Tuesday, ladies…welcome to my next step in colors with my day out in a spring palette green.
Of course, on St. Patrick’s Day yesterday, when I had errands to run, I made sure my day out was in a spring palette green.
I must of known that inwardly I was a Spring Palette, because I do have colors already in my wardrobe that work.
Though yesterday was a day that involved some labor (more about that farther down in the post), I still wanted to make sure I dressed in my spring palette.
So, join me and let’s see the color I found that I already owned.
A DAY OUT IN A SPRING PALETTE: IT WORKS!
If a color in my spring palette fan has three stars by it, then it is in the top of my best colors to wear.
Kerry Green has three stars, and I believe matches this
color from last year called VERDANT GREEN.I actually looked up the word “Verdant,” and it means: green with grass or other rich vegetation.
This shade might be in between the leaf green and the kerry green…but I am certain it is for me and my new wardrobe.
I liked the color so much last year that I own two tops in it…even though I was still a Vibrant Autumn at that point…I am just a sucker for beautiful greens.
Just on the chance that Chico’s still had the color, I searched Verdant Green and found these pieces in the sale category.
This top is the ASYMMETRICAL ELBOW SLEEVE TEE, now just $14.98 but it is a final sale.
These verdant green pants are fun. They are the SATIN EYELET HEM CULOTTES….available in all sizes and on sale for $69.99.
And when I wrote this there was also an additional 25% off on all sale items.
I was hoping to find more, but it is a lovely color and I can understand that everything sold.
I am so glad I have two pieces in it because this is a perfect match for my spring palette green.
A DAY OUT IN A SPRING PALETTE: THE OUTFIT
This green top is sleeveless and it was cool yesterday, so I paired it with an older cream colored double breasted blazer from Banana Republic Factory..it has tiny flecks of brown in the jacket.
My accessories were simple around the top and Chico’s Jeggings on the bottom…a moon brooch, simple gold bangle and gold sneakers.
I do love the gold sneakers and wish that SAS still had them online, so I could link for you..but I really believe every girl in a warm color palette needs gold sneakers!
I did not want a long necklace, or scarf or larger bracelets to get caught in the bundles I was moving.
A DAY OUT IN A SPRING PALETTE: THE TASK
I worked on this task all weekend…going through my entire wardrobe, washing, ironing, steaming and preparing a huge rack of garments to take to a consignment shop.
The shop requested that all be on hangars…so I had to lay them out on blankets in the car.
But it was worth it…because the shop took all of it! And hopefully the pieces will sell.
For the most part, autumn has moved on in my wardrobe. I forced myself to let go of more and not hang on to very many pieces that are not in my spring palette at all. There are a few still there and each has a great story associated with it!
I really love the place where I took my items in downtown Abilene. It is called HER CLOSET and it is at the back of the beautiful antique shop LIVING CHIC ANTIQUES.
It is so difficult to get out of these shops without finding a treasure.
My Spring Palette Fan goes with me wherever I go now…so I guess I am always shopping!
Thank you so much for once again joining me on my Spring Palette Journey…I was very pleased to discover this green in my spring moving bags!
My day out in spring palette green was a successful one!
Today’s News for Women over 50 returns tomorrow, so I hope you will join me for the many articles I have found for you…until then…
BE THANKFUL AND KEEP SMILING!!

Whether shopping new arrivals or clearance sales, please shop with the links on my SHOPPING PAGE…thank you, thank you to all who shop this way.
I’m loving seeing your new Spring colors in your wardrobe! I’m a spring too so I’m getting some good ideas 🙂
Ooohhh, that green. I’m not sure it’s between the others, but rather a -touch- more muted than your best green. It looks perfect on you! I applaud sending the items to consignment. I remember when Susan une femme did her purge and how long she waited to add the right pieces. It paid off in the long run because now she has that wonderfully curated closet I greatly admire. At the time she did it, I thought, wait … no black? How will she even get dressed? Both of you have shown me there are more neutrals than black. I’m also seeing you using spring to add some whimsy to your wardrobe. I’m not sure it’s an accident that you have gravitated to a lemon necklace and a moon pin for your first couple of spring pictures for the blog. There is just something so funky and fun about this color palette, not boho but definitely speaking to your creative adjective.
You look lovely in this green color. Your face is glowing.
Your verdant/ Kerry green is so Spring-like and bright after darker winter clothes. I’m more of a leaf green/blue green myself but I’m a winter. One nice thing about Chico’s is how you can search for a color. That sale top and those cutout culottes are both more a bit different but I like different, interesting, not run-of-the-mill designs. I need to do what you have done with your clothes. So many I will not or cannot wear anymore but I usually donate them to our local HELP Agency…just haven’t made the effort yet. Enjoy your day! Looks like another clear, sunny day for the South!
We can learn together, Amy! Thanks for being here.
These colors do motivate me to have more fun with the accessories…and I plan to keep that going. Thanks Linda!
Thank you, Gina. My complexion is exactly what showed me that Spring was the right palette for me.
That was quite a rack of clothing-labor intensive- that you prepared for consignment. Job done! ✔️
Kudos! Your outfit looked fresh and well balanced. I am happy that you are feeling rejuvenated by your color journey.
I am hoping that we can talk about balance, proportion, and contrast as time moves along.
Will do my best to cover these topics, Deborah. Thanks so much for being here. Right now I am focusing on what works…what I have, and what I want to add. Pretty soon, I will be wearing a pink and that is a shocker to me! But when she put on the pink drape for spring…I liked it!
Funny, I was doing the same thing last week! On a rare rainy day in the CA desert I cleaned out a closet and purged what I was no longer wearing. The consignment shop I go to was not accepting any winter items in preparation for the hot weather that comes in a few weeks so many of my items will be going to a charity. Love you in verdant green!
Thanks Linda! I packed away my winter clothing to take to consignment in the fall. I have some really nice things that I would like to try and sell, but I ultimately donate most of it. It always feels good to clean out anything..and makes Mr. B very happy when I do.
So does this move to a Spring palette mean that some of your makeup colors will also change — especially lip color or blush?
Pam, you look so nice in your spring colors. That green is beautiful. Your complexion even looks brighter. And how brave of you to get rid of the autumn colors.
Yes it does, Kim. Brian, the creator of BYBRIAN makeup that I have been using for months works with the color palettes and has new lip colors on the way to me now. My coral blush and warm pink blush stay the same. I did go ahead and purchase an eyeshadow spring palette from my local House of Color representative, also named Kim.
I didn’t get rid of all of my autumn colors…just the really dark ones and the ones I know are not my best. I kept the tans, off whites, and some of the Vibrant Autumn colors that are very near to spring colors. I kept the lighter browns and moved on a few of the darker browns in tops, but kept many of the autumn bottoms…the colors near our face are what matters the most. Thanks Paula
I’ll try this again as my previous comment appeared briefly in the comments but then disappeared. Many of us follow multiple blogs and for those looking for more information on color theory and the more technical aspects of style such as contrast and balance I recommend Jennifer at A Well Styled Life. She has an entire section devoted to color analysis.
Pam I have a question for you – since you’re clearing out your dark colors have you considered changing from dark framed glasses to a lighter frame? Just a thought that might lighten up your face a bit. Your hair color seems to be getting lighter (unless it’s the lighting) and this is where I think contrast comes into play.
Thank you, Pam for all of your lovely ideas! I purchased the verdant green top from Chico’s and can’t wait to wear it! You are inspiring me to get a color analysis so I’ll be checking on the options. I used to be a winter but I think it may have changed. Bless you!
Hi Sonja, I spent a lot of money on my glasses before I knew my colors…so they will not change. I hope in a few months I can ditch the glasses completely after cataract surgery. Color analysis is pretty simple…once you see the changes on your face and neck and how color makes a difference then you understand color analysis. Not every woman can wear every color with success. Success meaning you look your confident, youthful, healthy best. When dark shadows were cast on my face, I did not look healthy or vibrant. I have learned so much from the professionals who work with color daily. Sometimes too much information is confusing.
I know I am glad I did this…and I learned so much. I hope you love that green as much as I do.
You look fantastic in this outfit. I really like the jacket and jeans as a base, then believe you can pop just about any spring color top in as the star. It’s a great look! As to the pink, I am a fan. Mine are on the softer side, rather than last year’s Barbie pink, but I enjoy all of the pinks and corals. To me they seem like lipstick shades, and enhance that feminine feeling. Looking forward to seeing the rest of your color fan.
I can wear several shades of pink in my fan…one is very soft, called shell pink and on the other end is one called flamingo pink. I have always liked the color called salmon and I am excited to look for it as well. Barbie pink is not really in my wheelhouse, but I am going to try some of these newer shades for me. Thanks so much, Connie.
Your color journey has convinced me to set an a appointment with House of Color. I’d done Color Me Beautiful long ago and jewel tones suit me best. As I go salt and pepper plus wear less makeup, I think I may be moving more into mid-tones. That makes me wonder if I’m on the borderline of summer. I’ve always been fascinated by color analysis so I’m treating myself!
Have fun, Nancy and please report back…would love to hear what you learn. I am so glad I did this and saw it for myself.
Love you in this green with light jacket! Welcome to Spring, Pam!
That green is definite your shade. You look so good in it, & there is nothing more springlike than a beautiful shade of green. I have a bag of clothes ready to drop off at the donation center tomorrow when I am out & about. It is that time of year when many of us are looking to freshen things up. I hope to schedule an appointment to do a color analysis for after Easter. I have a lot going on between now & Easter, so I decided to wait.
Thank you, Paulette. I think Spring and I will get along.
Make sure to let us know what you learn, Becky!
You are glowing.Leaf Green aka Verdant Green is a fabulous color on you. Perfect for a Spring to welcome in spring! Its in my Warm Tonal color palette and I bought a Verdant Green v-neck tee last summer which I love. By all means keep your color palette fan with you whenever you are out & about because who knows what you might spot. My consultant taught me that if a color blends with my palette, particularly if its right between two adjacent colors that it a good color for me. Looking forward to seeing you experiment with pink. There are lovely warm shades of pink like salmon and coral, also that soft shell pink which is a great light neutral to wear with browns like hazelnut and ginger. You are going to have so much fun.
Loving this color on you and just out of curiousity did have a question for you about your eyeglasses, however I see Sonja (above) asked you the same. On that note; as you do contemplate having cataract surgery in the future and that you mentioned the cost of your eyeglasses, for both my husband and myself after said procedure (as no longer required for distance) we recycled our expensive frames by converting them for sunglass wear. So that is something you might also want to consider and just a thought. -Brenda-
Did I miss a post; when and how did you decide to make the change from autumn to spring palette?😊
Hi mary, You must have missed several posts…start with these two….

Thanks!
All of those pinks are in my best colors, Kathie. I hope to experiment with all of them. Thanks
I have done that before as my eyes worsened…it is a great idea with some of these designer frames. I just purchased these new frames and they are pricing…especially with Progressive Lens…so I am not going to get anything new for now. Looking forward to the future cataract surgery…but they need to grow more before I can have the surgery. Thanks Brenda
Pam, your natural beauty is definitely shining through in Chico’s verdant green! You might consider running an eBay search for “Chico’s verdant green” – looks like they have about a dozen pieces in that color, some of which may be your size. I use this option frequently to find discontinued items like my favorite JJill jeans or matching pieces that were sold out in stores. You can save your search so that you receive an email any time a listing is posted that includes those keywords. Hope that helps!
Your creative use of accessories reminds me that I need to unpack my costume jewelry and start wearing it again. For weeks now I have defaulted to wearing only a watch with matching James Avery earrings and ring for the sake of convenience. I have a full day of events and appointments on Thursday which include a university retiree luncheon. This seems like the perfect opportunity to implement some of the great ideas I’m getting from you – in fact, I may wear that pumpkin ale suit. I had my outfit already chosen and accessorized when I learned that it will be much cooler that day, so I’m back to the drawing board. This is just the incentive I needed to start unpacking the bags, boxes and suitcases full of clothes I have moved to the new house and piled in a corner. I’m unhappy with the closets in the new house, but it would make more sense to make peace with them, rather than boycotting them. A friend who works as a professional organizer/declutterer stopped by today and she had some good ideas that will help. I also wanted to mention that just because a few of us have mentioned an interest in learning more about contrast, you shouldn’t feel like you have to do “homework” or research on it, unless it is also of interest to you. I was just curious to know if House of Color includes it in their process. Sounds like quite a few of your readers are signing up with them – perhaps they should make you as a brand ambassador! As always, thank you for the motivation and inspiration I find in your posts.
It seems my accessories were one of the last things I unpacked when we moved. I still need to organize them, but glad to have my favorites back! Thanks for the eBay suggestion!
I have so enjoyed not only your posts on the color journey, but also the reader comments. Nancy’s mention of Color Me Beautiful reminded me that I first did color analysis through them around 30 years ago. A friend from church had become a consultant and needed clients to test her new skills. I remember she typed me as an autumn and there were makeup recommendations as well as clothing colors. I loved their eye shadow, which was discontinued ages ago. Somehow, I completely forgot about this session until she mentioned hers. I’m interested in having my colors analyzed again and paying attention to which methods you and your readers are finding effective. The consultant who did mine used a non-season based system but it included draping. She said my skin tone was warm and my eyes were cool, so that narrowed the colors I could wear well. She moved away but is now back in the Dallas/Fort Worth area so I’m wondering if I would get different results visiting her again, or if I should try an entirely different system. I hope all the readers who are making appointments will report back here!
Lovely outfit. So nice to see and hear your excitement for your colors.
Pam, I think deep down you must have known all along that you were a spring — because that green is PERFECT on you!
I think I agree, Heidi!
It’s fun and I like the results I saw at House of color!
I hope they report back too! I would love to hear about their experiences!
That green looks wonderful on you. The new colors just lift and brighten your skin tone.
As we move slowly toward spring, I am also planning on a significant closet clean out. Thank you for reminding me to take a good look at my Spring colour palette as I make decisions about what to keep and what to move along.
It helps me, Elaine…and I am getting better about letting go of the wrong colors in my closet…no reason to hang on any longer.
