Sunday Reflections

Sunday Reflections

Happy Sunday, all!  Time for my weekly lifestyle post called Sunday Reflections!

Sunday Reflections gives me an opportunity to share with you a little more about my world, and what my reflections are for the week ahead.

Thank you for understanding that I was not here on Friday, but you are about to see that I had a very good reason.

It was nice to get a quick email from one of you that said I was missed on Friday.

I always miss this blog community when I step aside for even a short time…you all are so sweet and kind.

Today, I have my reflections from this past week, and there is so much to reflect about the posts for next week.

My new color journey has sure energized spring for me this year.

So, let’s settle into a comfy spot and take a few moments to share Sunday Reflections together.

SUNDAY REFLECTIONS: SHE’S BAAACK!!

Sunday Reflections

My dear friend, Leigh Ann, who has been a blog favorite decided to pay me a quick visit before they headed up north for the summer.

I was so blessed to have her drive 8 hours (round trip) just to spend a little time with me.

She is the best with the largest servant’s heart of anyone I know.

We had a short time, but packed in a few adventures to share with you next week.

Sunday Reflections

Leigh Ann has a walking path in her Texas neighborhood and this past week was joined on the path by these three “rather large” turkeys.

She said she was nervous for just a moment, because they turned on her on the path…but she was able to scare them away.  I told her to yell, “Thanksgiving!”

Aren’t they beautiful though?  These are the prettiest wild turkeys I have ever seen.

Does anyone else do your walking with creatures?

SUNDAY REFLECTIONS: THE HEAT IS ON

Sunday Reflections

Spring Is certainly blooming out around town, and I have been reflecting on the heat’s return.

Our seasons in Texas are kind of messed up…that is why this little towel caught my eye….

Sunday Reflections

We are currently in Fixin’ to be Summer…..

Still Summer is September through early November (most years).

Of course, Christmas is it’s own season!

The current season can get a little toasty and challenge dressing.

This is why I was so interested yesterday on the side discussion to the trend post about white legs vs tan legs.

I will say that if I sit out in the sun around noon for just five minutes every day, and make sure my legs are uncovered, I usually get the color I like.

Sunday Reflections

It is warm enough for sun tea…and I like that.

I just make enough for me and like it for lunch or early afternoon.

SUNDAY REFLECTIONS: RECOMMENDED RECIPE

Sunday Reflections

OK, please do not make fun of my “funky” icing job.

Despite the looks, this LEMON BUNDT CAKE I made for a birthday at the office this week was delicious.

I found this recipe on a site called Pies and Tacos, and I would agree that it is a five star cake.

It is the LEMON BUNDT CAKE, and I did the lemon syrup and a cream cheese icing.

It is lemony, rich and decadent.

SUNDAY REFLECTIONS: WEEKLY SCRIPTURE

Sunday Reflections

God is so good.  When I was missing good friends the most, He sent Leigh Ann to come see me.

It was such a precious gift and we had a great time as I showed her my favorite spots in our new home.

Through just a short visit, God restored power and strength that was waning just a little.

So this week, come shopping once again with Leigh & Me with a focus on petites, and join us on a couple of short adventures!

Let me know if I can help you with anything or answer Sunday Reflections questions, and have a glorious Sunday!

  1. Just yell “Thanksgiving”: hilarious! Such a treat to have time with your friend. We missed you but know there would be a reason for the missing post, and are happy you had a visit to make your heart smile.

  2. Funny! It went through my mind on Friday that maybe Leigh Ann was there! You had such an excitement about you on Thursday. I thought she was due for a visit. There is nothing like restorative pleasure with a good friend. I didn’t comment about your fabulous Bermuda shorts blog yesterday. I woke up to 2” of beautiful (but a bit tiresome now) snow. I just didn’t have it in me to think about shorts. We will have another two good months before I can even contemplate them. The snowfall was rather beautiful- it was the large and softly falling snow flakes. We sat at the kitchen table to watch the birds come in to our deck feeders. I listed 20 different varieties in an hour. It was that kind of day. God is good.

  3. Yes He is! I love to watch His Majesty in creation like all the different birds. Happy Sunday, Deborah!

  4. So good to see Leigh Ann back with you. You all are so good together. I look forward to reading about your adventures. Happy Sunday.

  5. Thank you, Cheryll. This was just the shot in the arm I needed…visiting with a dear friend!

  6. So happy to see your dear friend got to visit! I’m sure it made your day! What a sweet gal!
We’ve been busy too, restoring Abd renovating two homes at our age is a challenge! But we found the dearest repair company owned by one man, a minister too called Gods Hands. He can fix any household appliance – anything! And reasonably priced! I gave him a glowing review!
Enjoy your warm days Pam! I walked my 2 miles fully decked out as I do in January today! Its that cold! Ouch!

  7. I’m so glad Leigh Ann got to bless you this week! It is wondrous that our God provides for us (even during those times we don’t realize it). Can’t wait to see what the two of you got up to!

  8. I wish he lived down here! I would love to find a repair company to trust like that! Blessings Paulette!

  9. How exciting that Leigh Ann came to visit. Can’t wait to hear about your adventures. Great photo of some handsome turkeys. We used to have a lot of them but I have yet to see any since the storm. Got a real kick out of the 4 seasons of Texas. When I lived in northern Michigan we said we had 2 seasons: winter & the 4th of July. So I can empathize with Deborah and the snow. Our lake ice-out always happened within 2 days of April 15 and I remember a major snowfall on Mother’s Day. I got our my shorts and crops to check to see if I had purchased the denim trouser shorts last season. I bought the trouser style but not in denim so I’ll be ordering them today. Its a great style and a perfect length for me. Also tried on some items I put away as they had become too small and found they now fit me! So I’m doing a happy dance today. Thanks to all who posted about self tanners and leg makeup. Have ordered both. Happy Sunday.

  10. Oh, great laughter at both your suggestion to yell Thanksgiving to the turkeys, and the seasonal reality on the cute Texas towel! Yeah to seeing Leigh Ann!!! I just caught up reading yesterday’s blog and the great comments and suggestions that followed. I am going to give the Sally Hansen product a try, too. To your query about anyone walking with nature, I do, indeed. Though we live in town, we back to a river edged with a light forest, so the deer are everywhere in my neighborhood. Dusk to dark regulars are also raccoons, nutria, and the occasional skunk family. Geese, squirrels, and blue jays live here, and most summers we enjoy an eagle’s nest high in the swaying evergreens. Blessed by nature, for sure!

  11. I think those trouser denim shorts are so cute…good choice! I love how we all help each other out.

  12. Yes you are blessed by nature. We walked with deer occasionally behind our home in San Antonio, and now my grandchildren living in our home walk with them. I have a cute picture of a deer coming up to my grandson who held out food for him. I love it when we can see animals while out and about.
    Thanks Connie!

  13. It’s always nice to see friends that we miss. I’m looking forward to reading about your adventures together.

  14. Yay, Leigh Ann visited you! What fun! I’m looking forward to hearing about your adventures. Those are beautiful wild turkeys. Showing off for the girls. I haven’t seen any since we moved down here off the mountain above town. We are still high at 5,300 ft. Altitude, same as Denver but dryer and hotter three hours southwest of them. I have actually worn shorts on our two hot days. Alas it is back to 47 degrees today. Walking the dog everyday seems to give me a little color but not a dangerous amount. A little sun is good for our Vitamin D. But I also take a pill for it.

  15. Love the turkeys and , yes,I’ve seen them when out walking as well as bears, deer, 2 coyotes, a fox, snakes etc. Bears are of concern but, they usually run away. I love the foxglove photo. Do you know why deer don’t eat them? For the same reason humans have to handle them with caution. I always like the posts with Leigh.

  16. It was so good to Leigh Ann. It’s gray and rainy here and seeing her sunny smile cheered me up. As does seeing your sunny smile!

  17. Good Sunday afternoon Pam,
Wow, what a lovely thing to do make the Lemon Bundt Cake for one of the employees. I get that made their birthday extra special.
Leigh Ann coming to visit was the best gift of all. What a “true blue” friend. That was a very long trip for her to make by herself.
A very special Angel. You are both blessed to have one another. It was just the perfect shot in the arm you needed to give you a boost of Leigh Ann and Pam time.
I understand missing a forever friend all to well. One of my very besties passed away a few years ago. We had a friendship for 37 years, a huge void in my life. This is what happens in advancing age.
    Sending you a wonderful week.

  18. Thanks so much…you know I love to smile and always smile when I am with Leigh Ann.

  19. Thank you, Katherine. So sorry about the loss of your friend. I can imagine that is very difficult. Being without my friends the last 7 months has really been the hardest part of the move. And, Leigh Ann was so amazing to drive all that way alone just to see me for a short time. She says she likes the driving…she has always impressed me with how far she will go and what she will do for others. She is a very special lady.

  20. So excited to see the dynamic duo together again, even for a short time! So many of us have missed Leigh Ann in your posts, but I know that is a fraction of how much you miss her in your daily life. I love that she literally went “the extra mile” to spend time with you before she migrates north for summer.
I’m looking forward to reading about your adventures together in Abilene! The Texas season towel made me smile out loud, but it would be much funnier if it wasn’t so true! People who live in places with actual seasons think we’re kidding, but it’s going to be 90 in Fort Worth this afternoon. I hope the hailstorms that rolled through last night missed you in Abilene! Here’s to our mutual survival of the crazy weather we get this time of year.

  21. What a blessing to have Leigh Ann come for a visit! I was hoping that your missing post on Friday was for something good, & it was. I’m looking forward to seeing what you two ladies were up to. God blessed me this rainy morning with a bright red cardinal sitting on top of a small tree singing his heart out in the rain! Such a joyful sight!

  22. The hail did miss us for now, Lori…thank goodness. I guess why I like the towel so much is that it does speak truth…so true!!

  23. I know Leigh Ann’s visit did your heart good! I am looking forward to see what the two of you were able to do and see!! Have a lovely Sunday!
