Sunday Reflections

Happy, happy spring Sunday, friends!  Welcome to my lifestyle post called Sunday Reflections!

Sunday Reflections is different every week and completely about what is on my mind from the past week to the week ahead.

Today, I do have an answer to readers who want to see what I wear daily just for home and occasional errand running.

However, today, I want to start us off with one of my grandson’s artwork and what he taught me this week about my clothing choices.

So, let’s get our comfy on…settle in … and enjoy what is on my mind for Sunday Reflections.

SUNDAY REFLECTIONS: THEY DO PAY ATTENTION

Sunday Reflections

Our three grandsons stayed with us this week while their parents attended a conference in another city.

I am still recovering…even when they are in school, I get wiped out preparing for them after school.

It also means that I pick them up at school.

At the end of the week, my little 6-year-old artist brought me this picture and handed it to me.

I told him how much I loved the colors.  He furrowed his brow and said, “You don’t know what that is?”

I had to admit that I did not know what it was.

He shook his head and said, “Gigi, that’s your shirt!”

Sunday Reflections

And this is what I had on!  The TRU LUXE JEANS MODERN STRIPE SHIRT AT DILLARD’S.

It was a great reminder to me that even a young grandson pays attention to what we are wearing.

He also commented earlier on the buttons down the back of the shirt…this was before he drew the picture.

I truly was amazed.

SUNDAY REFLECTIONS: CASUAL OUTFITS LAST WEEK

Sunday Reflections

One of you asked to see more of my outfits that I wear when I am just running errands or at home with no special place to go.

I thought Sunday Reflections might be a good place to share a few of those…so here goes…

I ordered the CHICO’S CROCHETED LACE PONCHO in moroccan mint before I had my colors done.

I like a poncho for wearing at home or running to the grocery.  I decided to keep it though the green is not in my spring palette and wore it over my golden haze Chico’s MICROFIBER TANK .

Sunday Reflections

This is piece is from Bryn Walker at  Dillard’s from years ago…it is such a nice piece when I am feeling very creative with my outfit.

I tossed it on this week with BRIGITTE CUTOUT PULL-ON CROP PANTS.

The greens are a perfect match.

I went bold with the EVERYDAY 3/4 SLEEVE V-NECK TEE.

After I wore this for the morning, I decided to toss on the necklace and grab my beautiful shopping bag from STRAWORTH, and go out for some produce and flowers.

Sunday Reflections

Finally, this outfit was so easy and simple for a more relaxed day.

I began with jeans and the SLUB SPLIT NECK HENLEY TEE in french blush.

Then when I was asked to go by the boy’s school, I tossed on the NOTCHED LAPEL RUCHED SLEEVE BLAZER in dried roses.

Sunday Reflections

Finally, this outfit from the Monday Post, is also a very good one for the same reasons…to look nice around the house and for simple errands.

The only time I really dress down at home is when I am working in the yard or with moving things around inside.  I try to look nice otherwise.

Sunday Reflections

Not too long ago, I shared with you how Chico’s is really the foundation for my new wardrobe in a spring palette…and so far, everything is working together very nicely.

This week I do have a few special occasions, so I will put this spring wardrobe to the test…will let you know how it goes.

Another Sunday Reflections take away here is that discovering your best colors in color analysis does help immensely with wardrobe building.

SUNDAY REFLECTIONS: WEEKLY SCRIPTURE FOCUS

Sunday Reflections

It is Palm Sunday and such a great time to remember the love of Christ and how He humbled himself in many ways to serve us.

I selected this Scripture verse for my focus this week to remind us of the power of praying the exact words from the Bible over our families.

If you look at my Bible, you would see the names of family members written by several verses…I pray those verses word by word over that person and inject their names into the verse.

This is one of my favorites to pray over those who struggle with “lost hope,” and with “anxiety.”

I have seen this prayer answered many times and what a joy it is to see those we love overflowing with hope when they previously had lost it.

I encourage you to put this to the test…and it is always good to interject our own names into verses and pray over ourselves…I do that very often with Psalm 91.

Thank you for joining me today for Sunday Reflections…I hope to see you tomorrow with something fun…until then…

  1. I had to catch my breath when I read your grandson’s explanation of his artwork. I can only imagine how it felt for you to hear that, as his Gigi! They notice more than we think they do. You’ve put together so many great outfits already mixing your old and new wardrobe items. This post has encouraged me to step up my game a bit with my casual “at home” outfits, but since I live alone I’m wondering if there’s a good reason to do so. Not saying I am not worthy of looking nice just for myself, but I don’t usually get home until after dark, so no one is coming by that late. At the end of a busy day comfort is key for me, but I wonder if dressing nicer even when alone could have an impact on how I feel? I’ll experiment with this and try to weed out some of my most worn out loungewear when I unpack that box. I definitely want to spend more time sitting on my porch during the daylight hours, and plan to try to look put together and approachable so that I can meet more of the neighbors as they walk by. One obstacle I’ve found is that almost all the walkers/joggers are wearing earbuds and don’t hear me greet them as they pass. Those who notice my greeting seem annoyed to have to disconnect long enough to ask what I said, if they stop at all. Perhaps there is some modern day etiquette on whether or not we greet those wearing earbuds that I’m unaware of? Being raised “southern”, we were taught to speak politely to anyone we passed. I’d love to hear from earbud wearers if they would prefer being ignored or interrupted. I love the Romans verse you’ve shared today; a former pastor of mine used this as a benediction at the end of morning worship for years. Easter week blessings to you and your reader community!

  2. Good Morning! Happy Palm Sunday! I think experimenting with it would be a great idea. If you notice that it does lift your spirits then there is a great reason to do it. When I was working outside of the home, I could not wait to get home and into my “comfy” clothes. So I do not look this way all of the time, but do my best during the week to do it for myself….and those like my grandson who watch what I wear.

  3. Good morning Pam,
I had the same experience as Texas Aggie when I read your grandson’s interpretation of his drawing. I didn’t expect his response. Such innocent and powerful insight at six years old…..kids just amaze me!
Your Spring journey has been so much fun, love your outfits. Have a great day.

  4. What a wonderful story. It is a tribute story to both you and your grandson. It is so honest and visual. I have a quick little story-hardly a tribute my maybe a lesson taken. When my grandson made his first communion two years ago, I had quickly purchased a JJill linen dress in a loose boho crinkly style with sleeves that bloused. My previous linen dresses were more shapely and smooth. Sheath style. When I put it on, my granddaughter Sydney, six at the time, said “Grammie Debbie. Why are you wearing a nightgown to church”? It was so true when I looked in the mirror. The right color did not make the right style and at 6, even she noticed. Neèd I say I consigned it and I am sure it looks fab on the right person. Syd’s First Communion comes up in a few weeks and I have my warm weather and cool weather outfits chosen. No boho, no crinkles, just the right personal more structured style and of course, the right colors.
Happy Palm Sunday to those who celebrate. What a lovely proverb you chose.

  5. I meant to say to Lori, I wear the old fashioned ear plugs when walking. They are attached to my phone with a dongle. I only have one in so that I can talk to people along the way without having to turn something off. (Plus I want to hear traffic and such.) I was raised ‘northern’ so I am not sure what you distinguish as southern. I was always taught to greet people and perhaps chat. I am never upset with people talking to me and I use that time to chat, greet or acknowledge neighbors, or passer-bys. If someone is running or power walking, just wave. If strolling, don’t assume that they don’t want to be bothered. I love the idea that you plan to look friendly, approachable, and possibly meet new friends. I never ‘dress down’ unless gardening, and even those clothes and my pjs are suitable in color. It is just a choice. It is not easy to move. It is such a daunting ‘start over’. My husband and I have moved over a dozen times. I hope you are not too stressed, and that all goes well! I wish you luck and happiness.
Pam, did you ever think about dyeing some clothes. There’s a great website on FB called Dye Your Own Clothes-Make Them Your Season.

  6. How cute your grandson observation was! Soo precious, thanks for sharing!
You look radiant and happy in your colors.
Can’t wait to see what u have in store for us next.
My grands live with us so yes draining energy lol. Yesterday they were thrilled to get a kiddie pool splashing about with a sprinkler added . Ages 5 and 7 boy girl

  7. They do have a way of convicting us…don’t they. I cooked hamburgers last week and the meat was too dry…this same grandson said, “If I was a judge on a cooking show and had to give you a 1-10, this would get a 2! Sadly, he was right!

  8. Yes! I have dyed clothing before for my autumn wardrobe and did blog about it years ago. Sometimes it looks amazing and sometimes not. What is crazy is I took a pale pink linen cardi and dyed it terra cotta for the autumn wardrobe…now I wish I had the original pale pink!

  9. I love those days with kiddie pools and sprinklers in the backyard. It is supposed to be to be 100 today!! Not what we want to see in April!

  10. Your grandson is certainly something! Now I’m curious-, will my grandchildren recall what I’ve worn when they visit? I wonder!
They were here for dinner last night!
    Quiz time!
I love the mint topper. Could it be that some shades are crossovers? You look lovely!

  11. What a beautiful message from your grandson. It is one you will not soon forget. You look great in all of your at-home outfits. I have to admit I feel better on a day I put some thought into my at-home look. However, I don’t look too good every day, haha. I agree with your reader about greeting people while walking. Music is always in my ears when I walk, but I’m happy to be interrupted by a friendly face with a greeting. Happy Sunday!

  12. Great post, and wishing a wonderful, anticipatory Palm Sunday to you. We are headed down to take care of the grands (2 year old and newborn), and I agree, it takes a week to recover! I do try to stay comfy at home, particularly if I arrive home during the late afternoon, when it’s a little early to wear jammies, but a little late to put on accessories. I try to buy nice loungewear, or wear black leggings with a longer, nicer sweater. Gone are the days when I would keep crummy, pilled and stained clothing to wear at home. I love you in every shade of green, and think the lace top may work in your palette because of the yellow under it. My fave of these outfits is the long BM flowered topper with the hot pink tee under it. It’s a perfect way to get some use out of your autumnal olive (and an olive base might ground your spring colors during cold weather; I’m glad you kept some of your olive pieces).

  13. That’s a great interpretation of your shirt!
I was thinking about what Texas Aggie wrote and wishing we all lived close enough to be that new friend to her.

  14. I think it is close enough to be a crossover. It is a warm green at least. Let us know if your grandchildren remember. This one is very observant and full of questions.

  15. Me as well…I always smile and give a greeting to those walking by…even if they have in their ear buds.

  16. I do love olive…and could not bring myself to glean all of them away. This piece is flowy and fun and bright…it has always made me smile. Thanks Linda …have fun with the grands.

  17. I know…I so often wish that we all could meet up for lunch or dinner…how fun it would be.

  18. Loved your grandsons remark and picture of your shirt. 🥰😂 the outfits you had on are very popular and being that I work at a Chicos we’ve sold so many that customers are having us order them their size. I’m short so I have trouble wearing long dusters. You look great in them.

Beautiful words for a Palm Sunday.

  19. Somehow, I missed that you work at a Chico’s, Linda. My apologies for not catching that before now…I think it is so much fun to help customers with what they are wearing. I use to do that in the dressing room area…even though I was not on the payroll! LOL!

  20. Your pink tones and olive greens are working for you Pam! I’m on your team for dressing to please yourself even if you are just at home for the day. You can smile when you happen by your reflection in a mirror. Having worn ugly green grey scrubs at work in ICU, I appreciate wearing nice casual clothes now. Your grandson reminds me of my own four sons growing up. They don’t miss a thing!

  21. Pam, I think your grandson, Beck is very insightful and I bet super bright. I bet you were exhausted after caring for the grand kids. How wonderful that you were able to do this for your daughter and son-in-law. What great parents you are.

  22. Aww, thank you you Katherine. He is super Bright! And one of the reasons I get exhausted is the he is a constant barrage of questions…one right after the other…about every subject you can think of. I often feel kind of dumb because I have to look up so many answers. He is definitely going to be more into science and math than I was!

  23. I just wanted to thank DeborahLM and Connie for their kind words! I wish y’all lived closer to Texas and we could all spend time together. I’m only two hours from Pam, so for us it’s a realistic possibility. We’ve had some conversations about creating an opportunity for the reader community to meet in person, and I hope we are able to make that happen one of these days! I’ve coordinated similar gatherings for another online community I’m a part of, and it has always been worth the effort to see virtual friendships blossom in real life.

  24. Thank you for a special post today with your grands. A Happy Easter for you and your family.

  25. Pam – This has nothing to do with this post. A few years ago, you or one of my other bloggers were raving about a pot/pan. I think you called it One Pot; it was not a hot pot or anything like that. My impression was that it was just a pot/pan. Not needing one at that time, I didn’t pay any attention. Do you remember? Can you steer me that way? Thank you.

  26. Years ago I had a top I loved. While I didn’t wear it weekly, I happened to wear it several times when I was with my 5 year old granddaughter. She asked me if it was the only top I owned!
Are the straw bags lined with fabric? I’d love to buy one if they are lined.

  27. Love the stories about the comments kids make. They see a lot and are not afraid to tell what they see. Funny my friends were talking about greeting people just the other day. A friend mentioned that when she walks in a park people our age greet each other but the younger people don’t make eye contact, most of them starting at their phones and/or wearing ear buds. Greeting not just a Southern thing either. My best friend who lived in LA was visiting me in northern Mich and commented after walking in the country with me that “wow, you know everyone around here.” Simply because people in cars wave at walkers and we wave back and other walkers always greet, at least wave. Same is true here in WNC.

  28. Wow, Marin…I do not remember that at all. And I do not have a brand in my kitchen called Pot Pan…it must not be me. I wish I could help you out.

  29. They are not lined, Kate. Made by these talented artisan/weavers in Africa who probably do not have access to lining the bags.

  30. I great younger ones at the park as well…but few speak back…mid to older age walkers and runners do.

  31. Just a reply to Marin—maybe it’s the Always Pan you’re thinking of? I know I’ve seen other bloggers advertise that one. Hope that helps.
