What Style Adjectives Does This Outfit Say?
Happy Friday, everyone. Today is another practice session of What Style Adjectives Does This Outfit Say? But with a twist.
Of course, we have been practicing with personal style adjectives in these posts I call What Style Adjectives Does this Outfit Say?
But, I apologize that today is shorter and different because yesterday was crazy busy with grandchildren…and as I sit here on Thursday night…I am exhausted.
So, thank you for understanding.
Here is what I would like us to do…select one of the fashion mannequins above.
Tell us which one you are focusing on…and then explain what you believe that outfit communicates to others in style adjectives.
You can do more than one or just keep it to one.
But please…keep it focused on the style adjectives. This is NOT would you wear it and last week a comment started to take us that direction…and that is when this is no fun and a little negative.
Remember style adjectives help each woman create a personal style that is unique to them…doesn’t have to be you…each of us is unique and this is a way to bring it out…positively.
My wonderful field reporter, Karen, sent this photo from a San Antonio
Hopefully, when I am rested tomorrow, I will come on and add what I believe each outfit is speaking about the woman wearing it.
But, I love it when some of you describe those women and their lifestyles.
I look forward to reading which ones you select and tell us about.
I will have something for you Saturday too…sorry this is so short. But thank you for playing along with What Style Adjectives Does This Outfit Say?
KEEP SMILING!!

Good morning!
The lady in outfit number three is casually classy, confident, and current. (She is mixing textures, baring her arms, knotting a self belt at her waistline.) Her monotone look is quiet and doesn’t shout as she walks around the outdoor flea market before lunch with her husband, but she is noticed.
Good morning Pam,
I’m hoping you are able to rest today. I am picking the women in the long vest. She is comfortable in casual, stylish, but understated outfits with a bohemian flare. I see her in a coastal area meeting friends for lunch and since they are eating outside, she has a sun hat on, with a fun scarf tied around the rim. The scarf is her pop of color with flats or summer mules that matches the colors in her scarf.
Thank you, Deborah…I love your word picture of her style adjectives. Quiet strength comes to mind for her.
Oh yes…she just might be the one who pops the color in accessories. It is a busy time of year with school ending…I will rest at some point soon. Thanks Betty.
Lady #1 is modern , polished, calm and confident in a simple but modern linen dress And summery jewelry.
Lady #3 is modern, trendy, confident, and a bit minimalist. ( no necklace or silky scarf).
Excellent work, Paulette. I can see your adjectives for both.
I choose the 3rd woman in the long sleeveless vest. She is simple (as in minimalist–no jewelry or embellishment), calm (soft monochromatic colors), current (open work sleeveless vest and what looks like wide leg linen pants) , confident (sleeveless) and casual (nothing stiff or formal in her outfit). She and I are headed to an art in the park event. Hope you get some rest today.
Art in the park…how much fun! I think all of you so far are nailing #3. Thanks for joining in, Kathie!
This is such a great neutral display, I’m glad you’re sharing. #2 Youthful, approachable, sophisticated, no-nonsense.
I agree that it is a great neutral display…for ladies who prefer neutral looks there are lots of ideas here. Thanks for sharing about woman #2, Kim.
Good morning. Like the monotone outfits, you could add just about any color of accessory to these outfits. They are cool and casual looking. The 3rd out is favored here. It can be very coastal, boho, or accessorized for a nice evening night out. My thought, this outfit could work for anyone at any age.
Outfit 2, the textured sweater: modern, interesting, casual, polished, natural. She’s a neat person, because she’s dining on the patio at a Mexican restaurant, and still wearing light neutrals! 🙂
Lady on the left: Classy, glamorous, Grecian, fun, fearless, confident, joyful. Take some time to rest, Pam.
Hi Pam! I am selecting the second from the left mannequin (sweater and pants). To me, her style adjectives would be comfortable, stylish, classically casual, minimalistic and understated. This would be worn by a woman who is confident but doesn’t take herself to seriously. She dresses well but never overdone.
I agree, Theresa.,..it could work for any age…and I like the choice of coastal. Thanks for joining in.
LOL…About the dining scene. Good choice of what the outfit says.
I like the choice of Grecian…that is a new one. Thanks Marcia…resting will come eventually.
Confident but doesn’t take herself too seriously….I can see that.
I see the same woman wearing these outfits on a cruise. From left to right, going to dinner, on an excursion. going to one of the activities like trivia or karaoke, sitting on her balcony looking out at the sea. Adjectives maybe would be simple, classic, casual.
I would love to know if anyone else sees them as the same woman. I am pondering that one…thanks for bringing it up.
The soft knits and flowy fabrics create a look that is relaxing and elegant. The monochromatic color scheme also helps create a comfortable look. I also envision this look while vacationing by water. This person is classic and doesn’t need to be noticed.
I love how Linda D pulled them all together as belonging to ONE woman, varying activities while on a cruise. I’m just going to take the last lady on the right as she hasn’t had as much attention. This gal, I feel like her name is Ginnie…she is on a summer stay at the beach with two of her best friends, a girl trip, but not far from home. Their goal is relaxation and connection. Ginnie is wearing her gently striped linen pants with a white tee and silvery oversized sweater because she loves the idea of being a Coastal Grandma, though she lives an hour and a half inland and is still waiting, patiently she reminds herself, for the grandmother part. She is the glue of this group, having arranged the rental, the logistics, etc. So she is confident, friendly, captivating (in just the right light, sometimes) and loves to work the puzzle in her early morning hour with tea before her friends wake and they all head out for a power-walk. Later, they will balance their good choices by feasting on freshly made carmel corn and watching a Diane Keaton movie, cozy in their p.j.s and blankets.
Hi Stacy…please tell us the style ADJECTIVES that you think one of the outfits speaks. If you do not know what we are doing here…I am happy to help…just let me know.
Thank you for introducing Ginnie to us Connie. Any idea what her overall wardrobe adjectives would be?
Ginnie’s adjectives are Confident, Friendly, Casual, Classic.
Yay! Thanks Connie!
I love Connie’s picture of Ginnie on the coast with the girls vacation. She brought the one comfortable flowy dress for an evening dinner out but the rest are for fun, comfortable relaxed girl talk, reading a cozy mystery or a casual walk on the beach. She is a confident woman, wears neutral clothes that enhances her appearance but doesn’t ask for attention. So confident, casual, understated, comfortable and coastal grandma.
For all of these ladies: quietly confident, modern, understated, intriguing. Love the gray and white neutral theme. I am also intrigued by the sweater that is sitting folded in front of the mannequins but not on any of them.
I’ve chosen the dress because I love it so much, and would buy it if the metallic stripe was any color but silver. I think the woman who wears this dress has a style that is classic, elegant, elevated casual, modest and polished. She would choose this over the sleeveless denim dresses or floral sundresses her friends are wearing but she would outshine them all, even in such a neutral color. For lunch with said girlfriends she would accessories with silver jewelry that included summer elements like tiny shells or raffia, and accent the look with a straw handbag and silver wedge sandals. They will ask her why she’s overdressed and she will just smile and say “Because our lunch is important to me.” #TeamOverdressed
I am looking at the second one from the left. she is current, tasteful, active, and stylish. Her accessories make a statement, but not too bold. The sweater tucked in is something I like.
