Casual Summer Outfit with a hint of vanilla
Happy joyful Monday, everyone! Today, I have for you a casual summer outfit with a hint of vanilla.
A casual summer outfit with a hint of vanilla? you ask….well, stick with me and I will explain.
Typically, I would categorize my style as casual chic…at least that is what I prefer, but summer is a different story.
Because of the heat and our active schedules, I tend to wear more casual summer outfits…a little heavier on the word “casual.”
I will say that my new spring palette has my causal summer outfit looking brighter and more joyful this year.
Sp, let’s discuss….
CASUAL SUMMER OUTFIT WITH A HINT OF VANILLA: THE OUTFIT
Except for working outside, this is about as casual as I get. I put this together for some errand running one day last week.
I am enjoying the comfort of these CHICO’S POPLIN CROPPED PANTS in the glistening sand color.
They go with anything…the cuff can be let up or down…and the cotton/spandex fabric gives a relaxed fit (which I like in a casual summer outfit).
These come in five colors….and I am considering the dove gray since that is also in my spring palette.
We are in a time of triple digit heat and high humidity (very much like I lived with in South Texas) and these pants are very cool.
I purchased the linen button down in the dried roses color right after my color analysis.
So, the only thing close to it online is the CHICO’S TENCIL DENIM BUTTON FRONT SHIRT.
In looking over what remains of Chico’s offerings in dried roses, I believe it has been as popular with others as it has been with me.
You might remember the sleeveless top I am wearing as coming from Addie’s Boutique.
For a casual summer outfit, this works for me and I am sure I will wear these pants this week.
CASUAL SUMMER OUTFIT WITH A HINT OF VANILLA: THE VANILLA
I tell my grandchildren that vanilla makes everything taste better…and I think the same my go for these lovely sneakers in a color…they call ivory and I call vanilla.
This off-white is beautiful and I am so glad I got these shoes…they are perfect sneakers to top off a casual summer outfit.
In fact, I wore them to church yesterday with a linen dress.
These are the EASY SPIRIT HOLSTON SNEAKERS in Ivory….and currently, they are a go to shoe for me….love them.
Now, if I was going to do a good amount of walking I would reach for a different sneaker, but these are perfect for around town and to be the icing on the casual look cake.
And remember, you can save 20% off with the code PAMELA20.
I can honestly say that I am not missing sandals at all….mostly thanks to Easy Spirit.
I have a busy week ahead, and this morning begins with the gym! I have to stay focused on getting my health back.
What do you have planned this week?
Thank you for joining me for a look at a casual summer outfit with a hint of vanilla….ask any questions you like…and I will see you tomorrow.
STAY THANKFUL AND KEEP SMILING!!

Really cute outfit, Pam. It meets your adjectives. I think those are one of the two pairs of sneakers I purchased with your discount. I love them. Yes! Vanilla!
Vanilla is a wonderful thing. The color and the extract. It’s a good shade for just about everyone, and a great neutral. I have the off white trouser jeans from Talbots and have been wearing them so often. I have a cool winter skin tone, but can still wear vanilla. When a recipe calls for vanilla, I always put a few drops extra. Add a few drops to your protein shake, your coffee, your scrambled eggs. Get creative. 😄
They are great sneakers…so glad you love them as well!
Yes, Marcia! I add vanilla to so many things….and a few drops extra just make it special.
You look great! I love that luscious cream color. I have a jacket in it from Old Navy last spring, and always enjoy wearing it. We are finally having some warmer weather, and in addition to my usual week of jewelry-making day with my group, we have dr, dentist, hair. But mostly I’m looking forward to finally consistently being able to be at our condo pool. My son and daughter in law are moving soon, and it will be very crazy as we will be happily helping all we can. I want this week to be the pause that refreshes :).
I like that, Linda…the pause that refreshes! I hope their move goes well.
Your shoes are cute and so versatile.
My week ahead has our season-opener concert in the park tomorrow evening 😁🌳🎶 so I am super happy about that! Last week when I drove by, I saw the summer bandshell had been set up. I was giddy with anticipation, as I wait all year for these next two months of music +picnic + community.
Vanilla definitely goes with anything-from clothing to cooking! Like Pam, I prefer an “elevated” look over very “casual,” but summer survival in Texas calls for loose clothing in natural fibers, and fewer layers. This look is perfect for the hot days ahead, and you absolutely shine in these colors. I’ve noticed that your new palette really makes your beautiful hair “pop!” Best wishes for tangible signs of healing this week as you return to the gym.
I absolutely love that and wish I could find something similar. Have fun, Connie!
Thank you, thank you! I am feeling better every day and started today at the Y…got to keep it going!
I love the shoes! But sadly they are out of my size. My husband actually gave me an eye roll as I have a lot of shoes. I do love ES shoes and have a lot of them! The Denise Austin walking shoes are great for longer dog walks. I have two pairs of them in white and in grey. At 97 degrees here in southern Colorado, I’m wearing bright blue shorts with a white and blue striped flutter shirt and I actually wore my Brooks sneakers for our walk early today. It wasn’t as hot yet and everyone was out walking their dogs as well! That goodness for ac! Have a great day Pamela in your cute outfit and all of the readers as well!
With cute sneakers like that there’s no reason to miss sandals. I like a bit of vanilla in cooking and in my clothing choices too. I’m a lot more casual in the summer. Its not triple digits but it hot here and we don’t run the A/C until we absolutely have to. So I am often just in shorts & a tee around the house. If I need to go out to the store or library I almost always reach for those Chico’s poplin crops. I purchased 3 pair last summer and they get a workout 3 seasons of the year. Besides being cool & comfy they go with everything like you said. And they wash up so nice. I unroll the cuff before washing, take them damp from the drying and hang them by the hem. Then the cuff rolls up perfectly when I’m ready to wear them.
Thanks Sydney!
Love the additional info on the pants, Kathie! Thank you for sharing it!
As a short but not petite, petite, I do not wear cropped pants. In the heat I find linen pants and dresses to be cooler and more comfortable. Our weather is going to be variable this week with mid 70’s and low 60s so still good with denim and cotton/ twill pants. We will be having a busy week with GD’s dance recital tonight, DM blood test and Retirement Tour for a future respite stay tomorrow, a Shakespeare play the following afternoon and then a two night get away for a change of pace. Lots of classic casual outfits to put together. Your outfits always help with that.
So jealous of your temperatures! Enjoy!
My week ahead, driving 11hpurs from North Mississippi to Houston to help our daughter and grandson move to a new apartment. excited for them but 😳 not looking forward to hauling a trailer with additional furniture. However, always worth it to see them and they will have tons more space.
Safe travels, Missy!
