Sunday Reflections
Happy Sunday, friends! Welcome to Sunday Reflections, my weekly lifestyle post.
In Sunday Reflections, I give you a peek behind the curtain of my life …what I have been up to and what reflections are happening in my mind.
This past week has been all about thankfulness…for things big and small.
It is important for me to thank the Lord every day for His gifts …no matter how small they may seem.
Thankfulness fills us with joy and drives the bitterness and anger away.
So please join me today…first I will share my big “thankful” moments from the past week, and then I will want to hear yours…what are you thankful for this day.
It’s time for Sunday Reflections…..
SUNDAY REFLECTIONS: THANKFUL TO BE LOVED
My grandson received a phone when he turned 12 this year.
At first I was not happy about all the trouble I know owning a phone holds, but he has blessed my socks off this past week with his phone.
While on vacation in Europe, he has called me twice to tell me about the trip, and as most young phone owners do, he has
SENT LOTS OF SELFIES!
He told me that he bought a surprise for me at Disneyland Paris and cannot wait to give it to me.
This show of love means so much to me…the phone calls, pictures, and gift mean the world.
And I am beyond thankful to be remembered on his big vacation.
He is the oldest of the 8 grandchildren, so this is the first time I have experienced being a part of their lives in this way.
I think this photo of him and his brothers, and the the very first one in today’s post are my favorite pictures so far.
Both are in Switzerland at a point where the Swiss Alps can be seen…and I love the one of him walking toward the cross.
SUNDAY REFLECTIONS: THANKFUL TO BE HEALING
I am back in the saddle again, and so thankful to be healing from the foot surgeries and the big fall.
The rib constantly reminds me that it is still there, but at least I am moving again.
I have been at the YMCA for five days in a row, and on a treadmill…it feels good.
AND…I am so thankful to have a fan on that treadmill…the ones in San Antonio did not have that.
Also, I returned to OSTEO STRONG this week and was so thankful that I did not lose much strength in the 3 weeks of recovery from the fall.
I am back to building bones and working on posture, balance, and strength.
I was even thankful that I still went out despite days of heavy thunderstorms….in the past I used that as an excuse not to go to the gym! (Just True Confessions time)
One of the reasons I love my new town is how easy it is to get around!
All of Texas needed this rain.
I was thankful that my family in San Antonio was safe from the flash floods that occurred there…sadly, some were caught up in it and swept away.
It was the most rain they had received in a very long time.
I am always thankful for a full moon…I love them.
My mother said that I loved the full moon my whole life…as and infant and a child.
I have never been disappointed by a full moon.
SUNDAY REFLECTIONS: THANKFUL FOR COMMUNITY
I shared with you this past week the 10th Birthday celebrations my new friend Addie hosted for her boutique.
It was an opportunity to get to know so many ladies a little more, and now I am thankful to hear my name called occasionally when out and about.
Another fun thing Addie did, was get together with a local candle shop, ABILENE CANDLE COMPANY, and create a bespoke aroma just for her shop.
Addie collected tea cups from local thrift and antique stores for this celebration.
Took them to the candle shop, and they created a wonderful aroma with hints of leather and coffee.
The shop will have it on hand and since I love it so much, I will go there just for Addie’s.
If you had any doubts that Addie understand women, then I hope this as quelled them.
SUNDAY REFLECTIONS: THANKFUL FOR THE WORD
My new community is a great example of God’s love and that is where I will spend time this week in reflection….ways to live a life full of love.
This world finds many ways to take that from us, but if we stay determined to show love daily then we are the ones who benefit the most.
I am always thankful for the Word of God and how it directs me and steadies me.
Thank you for joining me today for Sunday Reflections…WHAT ARE YOU THANKFUL FOR TODAY?
Please share and I hope to see you tomorrow…until then….
KEEP SMILING!!

Another lifelong full moon fan here! I’m rejoicing with you that you’ve healed enough to return to these forms of exercise. I can only imagine how good that has been for both your physical and mental health. I was equally opposed when my 10-year-old granddaughter got a phone this year, but my experience mirrors yours – lots of cute photos and texts and occasionally a call when something is so funny to her she just cannot wait to tell me. She has a wacky sense of humor and can almost always crack me up. I was the first person she texted last weekend after her soccer team won some huge tournament and qualified to travel to “Chacago” as she spelled it for nationals. I’m so glad you get to share in their trip in such a personal way, and I can’t wait to see what he found for you at Disney. Today I am thankful that though I am still wrangling two houses, neither had hail damage from those huge storms we got in the last week, when others very nearby were seriously damaged. I’ve aggravated my back injury and had some setbacks on the moving process, but I am thankful for what my body CAN still do. Blessings to you and the reader community!
Blessings to you…we had some hail damage on Mr. B’s car, so I understand being thankful when it passes by without it. Those were some big storms last week!
At my age I say a little prayer of thanks every morning when I awaken. I had a dear friend who died suddenly outside the emergency room where she had taken her husband for a procedure, so since Thursday morning I’ve thought often about my mortality. Grandchildren and their phones can be a delight and a curse. Our grands tend to ignore phone calls and rarely call back although it’s so frustrating to us. We’ve found it’s better to text them…these are all college age though, not young like yours and they have had their phones for a long time. I’m glad you are feeling better and can return to your physical activity. I go to my yoga fusion class twice a week because I know I need to and not because it’s fun. Same with my daily walking. I’m determined to not become bed ridden as my grandmothers were. Let’s hope we all have a good, and healthy week.
I am thankful (1) that this week I heard from 2 beloved cousins that I had not been in touch with in a long time, (2)my 2 cracked ribs are almost healed, and (3) we will have a visit in a few days from much loved family members from Texas! There is always something to be grateful for.
Pamela I am thankful for you! Every morning I look for your post to give me a boost! For the last three years I have been recovering from first a knee replacement and 2 months ago an emergency hip replacement in Italy. I am now going to the gym several times a week and to physical therapy Trying to be like you!!! You go girl
Yes…that is a good wish for all of us! And I am so sorry about the loss of your friend, Celia.
Wonderful thoughts of Thanksgiving, Sharon! I am also thankful my cracked rib is healing!
And you go girl! Your Italy story captured all of our hearts..,I am so thankful that you are on a good path to recovery! Thank you for your kindness, Darlene!
Pam, what lovely grandchildren you have! That is a true blessing, and it doesn’t get better than that! I can’t wait to see your Disnet present. I am thankful for so many things, it is overwhelming sometimes. God bless you. ❤️
Thank you, Marcia!
I appreciate your raw and honest posts. If you are like me, saying it aloud, helps me believe it. Years ago, I received some money when my aunt died and I bought a treadmill. It was probably the best thing I have ever bought. I have always been good at using it to walk (not hang clothes lol), but in 2016 I ruptured my hamstring and I committed to walking 2 miles each day to keep my leg from aching. My leg doesn’t ache but my knees are, as a result of less support, so I keep walking to keep them strong. I record tv shows to watch and for years I called it the dreadmill and went to watch tv. Now I go because I want to, and the tv shows are the reward. I encourage anyone to consider a piece of equipment at home. I know I just wouldn’t get up and drive to a gym in the dark -30c weather so it works for me. Happy Fathers Fay!
Thanks for a very inspirational message today! My husband and I are trying to keep busy as both of our kids are now living Europe. ☹️ We are planning a trip to lower Michigan, later in the week, where we had previously visited 10 years ago. We are planning to go see both girls and their families at Christmas in Europe. The story about your 12 yr old grandson getting a phone is very sweet! We have a 5 yr old granddaughter who we keep in touch with often but it will be nice to have her message us,once she is old enough like your grandson.
Thanks for sharing, Barb. My best results have always come from a commitment to walking and to the treadmill. With the addition of some strength training, that has served me well and now I am determined to get back to it. Last week was a perfect start.
It is such a joy to here from him…knowing that he chose to do that on his own. I love to hear from all of them. And I must say how proud I am of my husband, sons, and son-in-law on this Father’s Day. They are amazing family leaders and I am so proud of them. Thanks Denise.
I am thankful that you made the decision to walk through my shop doors all those weeks and weeks ago. I am thankful to know you and call you friend. I am thankful for you and your lovely blog community. Thank you for being willing to be part of the shop community. ❤️ I hope your Sunday is just what you need it to be. Happy Father’s Day to the fathers in your life. Peace & Joy, Addie
Addie, I just cannot say too much what a blessing you and your boutique community have meant to me. Your kindness and desire to help someone new to town has helped me to feel at home. Thank you for everything, Friend.
I love your grandson’s pictures! They are such a blessing in your life. Mine are all adults with children of their own. Texts and pictures of the greats but never calls. What is with this generation? I’m grateful everyday that our huge family is healthy and alive. Today on our early dog walk, we stood for a few moments and admired our beautiful mountains that surround us on three sides. Our valley is very green from all of the rain lately. But summer has arrived and it is in the 90s now so we get up earlier to beat the heat. I’m so grateful to still have my husband’s hand to hold while we walk Trixy. Now that we are in our 80s, every day we awaken to is a blessing. I’m grateful to you Pamela for your wonderful and friendly blog and our reader community. You are a blessing to me.
And you are a blessing, Sydney! Love when you share Colorado with us!
Pam, your grandson is so happy either his new phone. Look at all the love he is showing you. Fabulous picture of the three boys sitting on the bench together.
Glad to hear you are feeling better. The rib is going to take time to heal.
Enjoy you week, be in joy.
I am trying to be patient with it, Katherine. At least it is better. Blessings!
How sweet that your grandson is sharing his photos and adventures with you. You are indeed blessed with a wonderful family. So glad you are back to your fitness routines. One thing I am very thankful for is your sharing your Osteo Strong experience with us. Without knowing your story I probably would have overlooked the FB ad announcing the opening nearby The ad appeared right after my PCP had determined which osteoporosis treatment would be least likely to cause side effects that would trigger outbreaks of colitis and require me to go back on steroids. I read all the information, talked it over with her and my husband. We all agreed that it was worth me trying for a year. Obviously its too early to know if it will reverse my osteoporosis, I’m just one tick over the line. But if the improvement in my balance is any indication that its working I am optimistic. Each week I hold yoga balance poses longer without touching anything. I have been getting dressed in the middle of the bedroom for two months now. So among other things I am thankful for I am thankful for you and all that you share with us. Wish Mr. B happy Fathers Day for me.
I am so glad for your comment, Kathie! I am always thankful when something I share is helpful. I am glad to be back at Osteostrong!
Thankfulness does revive happy memories even when we’re sad. I’m grieving recent pet loss of my 12-year smart, gorgeous Persian cat Sophia. Despite the challenge of seeing her everywhere, I pray daily to recall the fun sweet moments with my solo companion. I have no other family. Your post feels like a warm hug. Blessings to this heartwarming blog community.
I am so sorry for your loss, Char. 12 years is such a long time to have a sweet companion. I hope all of the memories will comfort you as you go forward to say goodbye. I will say a prayer for you as you grieve her absence.
My condolences to Celia on the sudden loss of your friend. May all who mourn her passing find peace and comfort, and may her memory be a blessing.
Grateful for your blog, Pam. Grateful to all the wonderful people in this community. Grateful to a wonderful Dad, to wonderful Dads and Grandpas everywhere. Grateful for the Savior.
Thank you for reaching out to her, Lorri.
Amen, Mary!
I am a day late in offering my thankfulness notes because of one of my biggest reasons to be thankful: a day spent with my family! It was a day of fun, food & laughter. I also had lunch with a group of high school classmates this week. Kind words from a sweet friend also made my list.
That is an amazing list, Becky! So happy for you!
