Sunday Reflections

Happy Sunday, Friends. Welcome to my weekly lifestyle post called Sunday Reflections.
The woman you see at the top of Sunday Reflections is how I have looked all weekend.
The difference is no coffee and not cat…but rather my faithful dog Tux and a little water.
I have had a stomach virus…no fun.
But, since I am doing my best to “keep it all together,” I am here with you today and hope all of you are free from illness.
This past week focusing on fall fashion was fun, and there will be more ahead as we march on.
But, for today, let’s discuss a few other topics from the past week….
SUNDAY REFLECTIONS: HAND-MADE CARDS

These top two cards are hand-made by a local Abilene artist and sold at Addie’s Boutique.
I love these cards and purchased several.
Sending grandchildren encouragement notes for the beginning of school, is something I love to do.
And, I stick in a book store gift card to keep them focused on reading. These will go out this week.
Not sure who I will send the top card to…maybe I just bought it for today…since I feel that way.
SUNDAY REFLECTIONS: OUTFIT CHALLENGE

Thursday was my busiest day of the week…crazy busy.
I needed to meet a friend for lunch…and immediately go from there to Osteostrong…then quickly go home, change and head out to my daughter’s to help her ready for an office fajita party at her house.
Whew!
I did not want to go to lunch in workout wear, and for Osteostrong I could get by with flexible, comfortable wear to do the circuit.
So, I selected T by Talbots pants and top in a navy blue, and then put over them an older kimono. When I arrived to workout, of course, I ditched the kimono.
Then I ran home and freshened up a bit…but on my capris in the dried roses color, and a cool comfortable top. Thursday was also the hottest day of the summer…well into triple digits.
Since I really reflected long and hard on the best way to navigate the clothing, I thought I would share it. I just wanted to rush in and do the workout and not try to change clothing there.
Time was critical on this day because my daughter needed the help quickly before the party.

The office party also confirmed the popularity of charcuterie boards still goes on.
She had this large one, and then a sweet one at the dessert table…and they go quickly.
Does anyone here make your own or do you order them done?
SUNDAY REFLECTIONS: SCRIPTURE FOR THE WEEK

This is one of my favorite verses in the Bible.
I often pray for God to go before us in challenges…traveling…decision making.
And I thank Him that he will never leave us nor forsake us.
I am praying right now for Him to go before the grandchildren who are headed to school…especially, the oldest who will be entering middle school.
Rightfully so, he is a bit nervous.
Bless his heart, last week their family was at a place called Top Golf with friends. He was teeing up the ball for a younger child and the little boy swung early.
Luke was hit in the head with the club and needed 6 staples…a bit traumatic for all of us. But, he is doing good and his hair covers the staples.
I hate when any of them get hurt….and was the same way with their parents when they were children.
Thank you for understanding that this is a bit short today…I am feeling a little puny.
Hopefully, I will return tomorrow with full strength.
Thanks for joining me for Sunday Reflections…now make sure that you….

Pam, I am so sorry to hear that you’ve got the same virus that is making the rounds here. Thursday was definitely our hottest day so far, as well. I came out of church at sundown and it was still 99 degrees in the shade. Here’s to cooler days ahead sooner rather than later! I love the verse from Deuteronomy and will reflect on it this week as I attempt to juggle three active grandkids with continued moving efforts. My daughter is a teacher and she heads back to school on Monday, while the kids don’t go until the 13th (PreK-4) and 14th (2nd and 4th grades.) Like you, I always pray harder for the kids as they go back, and also for my daughter who accepted the challenge of teaching autistic students last year. I’m so sorry to hear about your grandson’s head wound, and am thankful it wasn’t any more serious. It seems like this summer has flown by, which is great because it’s my least favorite season of the year. I hope you’re feeling better soon, and that you can just take it easy until the virus passes. If there is any bright side, everyone I know who has had it has lost several pounds. Take good care of yourself, and we will be here when you feel up to writing again.
Pam, so sorry that you are dealing with a stomach virus. I have been hold up in recovery from abdominal surgery this past month with several more weeks to go. With the heat up so high it’s a good time to recoup indoors. My granddaughter starts school this coming week as well. Her last year in elementary school. I have been a bit sad since I was not able to spend much time with her this Summer due to the surgery, but her time was spent exploring and learning lots of new things in various camps which is good as
well. I love that bible verse! It is a comfort to know that God is always with us. What an unpredictable Summer this has been, but I always do trust that God has a plan. Glad your Grandson is on the mend. Always difficult to see those we love suffer. Take care of yourself and hope you feel better soon!
Wow sorry u have that stomach virus
Yes last year I had one and lost 5 lbs!
It helped me lose easier now or either I’m trying harder or eating less because it’s soo hot lol.
That is traumatic about your poor grandson getting hit in the head.
I remember I was a little apprehensive too about entering junior high.
Take care hope u get over that fast.
Pam, I hope you feel better soon. I like the way you showed us a way to transition your outfit. Sometimes we have to race from one place to the next. You look great! Rest easy and get well.
So sorry you are feeling puny and your grandson is recovering with stitches. At least we know we all feel better soon. I so appreciate Kate your scripture for the week. My Mr. Bill and I are flying out to Salt Lake City tomorrow early and have two stops in between. I’m not feeling very assured of being on a plane these days, and this verse gives me assurance of God’s presence and no need to fear or be discouraged. We rarely take vacations so this trip was a surprise. We will travel from Salt Lake to Yellowstone and Grand Tetons so I’m struggling with what to pack as I’m so cold-natured. What a change from our 100+° days. I’m packing my scarves!
Being sick in the summer is awful. I hope you kick that out of your system asap. Don’t forget to really stay hydrated!
Sorry about your grandson. Youch!!
Starting junior high was my own most nerve-inducing transition, but then I loved it. Changing subjects and classrooms, teachers and classmates every hour….made for interesting and fast moving days. Plus, first time to have a locker, have P.E. clothes, and choose specialty classes (jazz band, wood shop, sewing). What a fun time for your grandchild!!
Sorry to hear you are not feeling well. Just take care and fight this awful bug.
So sorry that you’ve had a virus & hope you feel better soon. And poor Luke. I’m sure it was scary for everyone. I love that you send the grandchildren encouraging notes before the new school year. Even kids who love school can be apprehensive in started at a new one. The party tray looks inviting. Did your daughter make or order it? Our heatwave broke yesterday and its such a relief albeit temporary. I hope you get some relief from the heat soon. As always the scripture reflection resonates with me. I am facing some challenges right now and I need to remember I am not facing them alone. Get well soon.
Pamela, I am so sorry that you have this miserable stomach flu going around. My friend actually had to go to the ER and was admitted for two days. They found out it was Norovirus. It only lasts two three days but can be passed on for as much as two weeks. It is a very contagious stomach bug. It often hits cruise ships. Be sure to keep drinking to avoid dehydration. Rest and maybe catch up on your reading. My thoughts are with you.
Get well soon! My grandsons have had stomach bugs this week too, so hoping I don’t get it. You mentioned Osteostrong and I’m curious as to how you like it. Maybe you’ve discussed it before and I missed it. Take care of yourself!
Pamela, I too, hope you feel better soon. I’m amazed you’re even posting at all today! Thank you for sharing about the gift cards for your grands. Our eldest granddaughter starts kindergarten in Sept., and I wanted to get a little gift, but hadn’t going shopping. A gift card for a book store is perfect! Why didn’t I think of it? You’ve nicely solved my problem of what to buy her. 😀
I’m sorry you are not feeling well & hope you will be better soon. Here in Indiana, we are getting a brief reprieve from the heat & humidity, but I know it’s coming back. I’m enjoying this little bit of fall like weather while I can. Take care of yourself & try to stay hydrated.
Thanks for your post today. i appreciated how you shared your plans for your outfits as you went through the day.
I do my own charcuterie boards and enjoy trying to change them some.
Thanks for the scripture verse a favorite of mine.
Ugh—speedy recovery, my friend! Yuck. I’m so sorry. ❤️ Thanks for sharing Foxy’s card. Encapsulates how we all feel from time to time. Your candor is always so refreshing.
Peace and love to you.
May you feel better really soon. Sorry to hear about your grandson’s accident and am thankful he could be patched up. You are such a thoughtful grandmother and mother. The charcuterie board is beautiful. I have been loving the fall fashion tips. We got a nice break from the heatwave this weekend here in KY.
