GoodwillSA: A Fiber Artist Best Friend…Plus the Thursday Blog Hop
Last week I introduced you to Vicki, a talented woman in San Antonio who is creating and designing art pieces in order to raise money for 68 different charities in our city. The post is HERE and more on THE HUFFINGTON POST HERE.
She also is a fiber artist…refashioning clothing, shoes, and pieces found at GOODWILLSA…one of her best friends, she says. THE FIBER ARTISTS OF SAN ANTONIO (FASA) is thriving and the only one left in Texas. “The groups in Dallas and Houston shut down,” she explained. “But our San Antonio group is growing.” And it is amazing all she does with her treasures. She loves her membership and connections with this group of talented artists.
A fiber artist tells a story with each creation…this one became a tribute to her family and will never be sold.
Vicki wears some of her outfits…designs for a fiber artist runway show…and uses some for charity as she does her necklaces.
Every outfit she showed me had a theme and matching jewelry.
Creations are discovered at thrift stores through gently used clothing, fabrics, buttons, old jewelry, shells…so many things and she organizes all of it in a beautiful painted cabinet in her studio.
Now, attention Kerrville, a new
Goodwill opens there today with fun grand opening ceremonies! Check it out!
She wears this last “octopus” tunic with black leggings…so cool.
It is amazing what can be done with creativity, diligence….and, of course, GOODWILLSA!
Please make sure you enter to win the TRESKA jewelry HERE…and then go enjoy the wonderful blogs of the Thursday Blog Hop!
