Tapping into My Inner DIY- Spirit at Goodwill
Want to know a secret? I have a hidden desire to create and make things deep inside of me. But, honestly, I am not very good at it…that is why I have to keep it simple. One of my favorite places to hang out in my spare time, is one of the many great Goodwill locations we have in my town, San Antonio!
Let’s take these coffee mugs, for example. I have discovered some of the coolest mugs at GOODWILL over the past four years since I have been on their official blogger team. I like to take a mug like this and plant a pretty flower or bouquet in it and deliver it to a friend with a message…Let’s go to lunch…Let’s go to a movie…Let’s meet for tea. So much more fun than just calling to invite them out. I have seen mugs even remain on desks for awhile after delivery!
Last week, I discovered this stack of Christmas bowls by Churchill made in Columbia. They actually may be valuable and I bought the all 6 for $2.99. I think they would make precious gifts …filled with Christmas candies or scented soaps for ladies in my office. Or I just might keep them.
After I have my moments with DIY dreams, I always pull out the fashionista to enjoy some of the great finds at GOODWILL SA.
I was happy to walk out with this top from the Loft…tags still on…brand new. It is fun to save on a print, I might otherwise not purchase at full price. But I do like it. So, I left with a smile on my face and I know this fun helps the community.
GOODWILL GIVES BACK to our community with jobs, job training, and veteran assistance.
It is a great way to tap into my inner DIY and fashionista!
Keep Smiling!!
NOTE: Please remember if you see crazy things going on with my blog…I am in the middle of a re-design and making some changes. Hopefully, it will all be over soon! I know the pages have disappeared, but there will be new ones appear with the new look! Thanks for your patience.
My favorite thing with mugs at Christmas is to chill Hyacinth bulbs in the fridge for 8 weeks ahead, then put them in a mug with water and pebbles to hold the bulbs upright. A Bulb with nothing but a green tip showing holds promise of a bright, fragrant bloom in the dead of winter after Christmas is over.
I am going to do this! Love it…thanks Jean!
I like the idea of putting a plant in the cup and giving it as a gift.
I like the top you bought too. Goodwill is one of my favorite places to shop. I have found many treasures. I collect the ceramic swans with flowers around them that were so popular in the 50's and early 60's. I have found so many of those in great condition with no cracks or chips. I have had hats, purses, and all types of dishes and fabric from Goodwill. The people who work there are usually very nice and I like the senior discount and deal of the day.
Oh we are certainly kindred spirits! I really enjoy shopping at Goodwill. I have found many treasures there, for sure. Also, when I'm ready to part with a treasure, I pass it on to Goodwill so that someone else can love it! Like you said, just another way to support our communities. ~ Sharon
Good will is so great – sadly our two closest stores have closed and I really miss them. Thanks for linking, xo
