New Looks for my new work-at-home life! Accessorized with a smile!
Here’s some fun! Time for an update on how I am creating new looks for my new work at home life since leaving the professional office world last March.
SILVER LINING: As my own boss, I can now have a wardrobe that completely reflects my style… and wear what I want.
I have been looking for a more casual lifestyle balance between classic and creative style!
With everything I have been trying on, I did decide that I needed comfortable, easy fabrics; more garments in my closet with shorter lengths; different neutrals I can pump up with accessories; and styles which go across multiple seasons.
I have also looked for more garments that look flattering on me without the third piece (a jacket or topper).
Today’s outfit is a bulls-eye for me as I hit the perfect blend of casual chic wear. This Eileen Fisher Flex Ponte Jewel Neck 3/4 Sleeve Hi-Low Tunic is one of the most cool comfortable ponte fabrications…I could literally wear it all the time.
The color is called HAZEL, which is perfect for me. It brings out the same color in my Hazel eyes. I have two leopard scarves and it looks great with both, and black leggings.
I confess, it has not been easy to stop looking at clothing with the first thought being, “I could wear that to work!” But I am getting better about thinking “is this my new life?”
TAKE ADVANTAGE OF EARLY CELEBRATION
Yes, Eileen Fisher is at Dillard’s, but so are beautiful holiday decorations. I personally love the Southern Living Heirloom Decorations.
If I am in a funk, all I have to do is go where the holiday decor is lovely and my smile pops right out!!
SILVER LINING: A difficult year has everyone in a holiday mood and ready to celebrate more. Spread the joy and join in!
DON’T FORGET
When you are in this kind of mood, remember I am hosting a RECIPE CONTEST! Send in those favorite recipes for hot cocoa and holiday desserts! There will be two winners. I love what I am seeing in the entries! Such fun!
After you enter the contest, then go watch movies and eat the goodies!! Of course, in front of a fire!
SILVER LINING: While spending so much time at home, you can do this whenever you want to!!

That’s a great look Pam! EF definitely has the comfort factor nailed. I like the combination of colors you’re wearing! I still go in stores thinking “I could wear that to work” and I’m close to two years out from it! It represented a large chunk of our lives! I really like your current style!
Thanks Karen! I wasn’t sure about this color until I tried it on and then I was sold! Have a great day!
That color and shape are perfect on you! You look elegant!
Thank you, Cathy! Feeling elegant today!
Great outfit! I’ve been retired from teaching for 4.5 years now, but am still drawn to the business casual styles that I wore to school. Old habits are hard to break!
After hearing from you and Karen, Barb, I now understand this might take a little longer to change my mindset! Thanks for sharing.
Hi Pam, That outfit looks great on you. You wear those colors well.
I have a silly question. If I click on one of your links, but end up buying something else at that store, do you still get credit?
I also have to add that the picture of your grandson with that great big smile just makes my morning!
Here’s the thing about the clothes I wore – and loved -for work: I, and I believe many people, look so much better in more structured clothing. I worked in New York City and wore suits ( mostly pants suits from Ann Taylor )to work most days. They were almost all black ( it was NYC and everyone wore black or was not considered a serious person!) My point is that 20 years after retiring, ( retired at 51) I’m still drawn to nice pants ( no to skinnies) with a blazer or other jacket -with a tucked in soft blouse or thin sweater -that hints at a waist and squares my sloping shoulders. And that third piece, if it’s cut well, skims over my thickened torso. But doesn’t go below mid hip. So part of the difficulty in a more relaxed look is finding comfortable casual clothes that still flatter just as much as my suits did. I have yet to find the magic formula.
He always makes my day….all of my grandchildren smile big! Not a silly question, Carolyn…the answer is YES!! If you click on a product in a slideshow and buy anything else other than the product, I do get a commission. Thank you so much for clarifying and for supporting the blog.
We will look for it together, Susan. That is right where I am…experimenting and seeking that magic formula. Thanks for sharing!
What a lovely outfit you are showing today. I have been retired for 4 years and still think what a great item to wear for work!
Great outfit on you! Very flattering! I love Southern Living at Dillard’s too!
Thanks Claudette!
So many pretty items! Thanks Kate!
That outfit looks great on you. It is casual chic at its finest & just the right amount of accessories. At this time when we are spending so much time at home, it is such a pick me up to have pretty pieces to make our homes a joyful place. We all deserve it!
You look just beautiful in this outfit. I love your sense of style. I so enjoy your blog! Thank you!
Yes we do, Becky!
Thanks so much, Joanne! I’m so glad you are here.
Love this outfit on you! You hit the sweet spot of casual chic comfort. Plus, it’s very slenderizing. An added bonus would be to throw on a black jacket with maybe a sparkle broach and you could could go to just about any occasion.
So true! Love that idea, Susan!
