The Sci Tech Daily article on aging confused me. I understand it to say that ceramides build up in aging muscles and are detrimental. Ceramides are present in several skincare products which I know I use. Choosing between declining function or dry, wrinkled skin may be our choice. Is this what you understood as well?
It is kind of confusing, but there are cases like this where something may have benefits in one area but be detrimental in another: case in point, red wine. Red wine appears to have heart health benefits, but it (along with all alcohol) is bad for your brain. Ceramides apparently have skin benefits but are bad when they build up in muscles. It’s not clear, but I don’t think that using on your skin has a direct (or nay?) impact on muscles and aging. It would be interesting to know more.
