2024 fashion trends

Happy Saturday, everyone!  Today we are discussing 2024 Fashion Trends: Gingham!

On Saturdays since the beginning of a new year, we have looked at the 2024 fashion trends with the goal to look modern and current with our style over 50.

Fiesta is well underway in San Antonio, so happy fashions catch my attention…and I consider gingham to be one of the happy 2024 fashion trends.

It puts a smile on my face.

So, let’s look at little closer at the 2024 fashion trends and see what retailers offer us in gingham.

2024 FASHION TRENDS: GINGHAM ON THE RACKS

2024 fashion trends

Gingham is everywhere right now, most recently, I found it on the racks at JJILL.

This is the Pintucked Linen-Stretch Slim Leg Pants in classic blue & cream gingham that is on the display above.

I realize that gingham is around all year long in various colors, but right now it comes to the forefront in the 2024 fashion trends.

You will see more of it on racks most everywhere…one retailer called gingham pants with a white button down as a classic Audrey Hepburn style.

So, if you have spring gingham in your closet…bring it out and wear it.

Here are some other happy gingham styles I found currently on the market:

This past week, you spoke in a big way that this jacket is in your own personal 2024 fashion trends.

It was a top seller for this blog…it is the Curved-Hem Denim Jacket and I agree…it is a great jacket for spring.

Isn’t it great that comfort sneakers are in the 2024 fashion trends and go with just about any styles.

I am loving both of my comfort shoe lines right now so much!

This is the Denise Austin Mel EMOVE Walking Shoes, and I cannot wait to wear them with dresses for spring and summer.

This is the second pair of these sneakers I own, and my recovering feet are very happy in them.

  1. So many great spring gingham options this year – thanks for rounding up so many for us! I love gingham, but only in the smaller scale prints and only above the waist. I feel like it’s a classic print, much like stripes. I got a peach and ivory gingham blouse last year and have been wearing it a lot this year with the JJill barley jeans. I also have a sleeveless black and white gingham linen blouse that I’ll be wearing a lot when it gets hot. Glad to know one of my favorites is trending!

  2. Gingham is such a fresh look in the spring and summer. A great option for those of us who avoid prints but still go for patterns like stripes and polka dots. Its challenging to find gingham that suits my autumn palette so I was thrilled to find a pair of Chico’s gingham crops in smokey taupe & “alabaster”. The J Jill popover you showed in the slideshow caught my eye. I love green. Pear & cream should work for me. I ordered it from your link and will let you know how it works.

  3. I used to like gingham as a child but it was part of the summer uniform at my 2ndary school and since my mother made the dress it didn’t wear out so I had to wear it every summer for 5 years – which has been enough to put me off gingham for life !

  4. I have always loved gingham. 55 years ago in August my bridesmaids wore yellow gingham dresses and carried daisy bouquets. And earlier than that I made a gingham dress and cross-stitched a pattern on the bodice. However, I currently have none in my wardrobe so I am interested in several items in your slideshow. On a more personal note I’m happy to hear that your feet are happy these days. I’m in physical therapy after my foot surgery in January and still having pain, but it is better…just slow.

  5. Love gingham pants! Years ago I always had a black and white pair in my closet that I wore with red shoes. Now that I don’t wear black, I am always looking for a cream and olive or cream and brown to wear with my orange loafers. It has been impossible to find any gingham pant that blends with my autumn closet. I will check out the Chicos, but I wanted a longer, crisper look. That Jjill popover looks right up my alley. I will check it out. It could be a great addition to my upcoming travel wardrobe, and it might ‘clash’ beautifully with my plaid raincoat. (I love a good clash!) Thank you.

  6. A big YES to gingham! I have a number of favorites: a blue gingham purse, same in red because I loved the blue so much, two spring gingham blouses, one yellow and the other blue, and finally, two of the exact same swim suits from Lands End done in a pool blue/white and the other is picnic red/white. It is, for me, the quintessential summer pattern and screams HAPPY. I will be taking a closer look at those JJill and Talbots blue/white pant offerings, and I’m glad you put the picture of you in the JJill purple dress. Good reminder that I meant to place an order. Have a terrific Saturday, everyone!

  7. I have no gingham currently, but I like it in one piece of an outfit (not head to toe … which is not a knock against gingham, it’s just how I usually feel about anything but a solid head to toe). If I were to make a purchase, it would be a top, since with my limited wardrobe, I’m trying tabletop dressing. I like black and white, smaller denim the best (larger red checks veer too much into picnic time for my personal style), but I’m very intrigued by unusual colors like olive or that smoked taupe.

  8. Perfect timing for me Pam as (still) editing my Spring ‘n Summer closet and came across a black and white gingham midi length sundress as well as a zippered jacket (not a set though) and was going to donate them as haven’t worn them for a few years (due to unpopularity in pattern/length) however think I’ll hold on to them for at least another season. (Both still do fit, being in a cotton blend are super travelers/wearables and in excellent condition.) On that note; enjoy your Fiesta celebrations as where I am our weather has been more like early Autumn rather than Spring as cool ‘n windy with lots of rain showers and little sunshine.

  9. Yes! Hold on to them and enjoy the gingham now Brenda! That is perfect timing!

  10. I have always loved gingham and own several shirts in the pattern. I recently bought a pair of Bermuda shorts in a navy and white at Talbots and I am still trying to decide if they will get the necessary wear to justify the expense. Once it gets too hot in the desert shorts take a back seat to cool dresses. Gingham conveys a classic, preppy style; both are fashion adjectives for me but pattern bottoms still mystify me.

  11. I think Bermuda shorts in gingham are a great additional to the wardrobe…thanks for the idea, Linda!

  12. I bought a pink gingham camp shirt last year from JCP. It is very light weight but does need to be ironed. That is difficult for my severely arthritic hands. I think I will wear it this Wednesday to our community Spring Fling luncheon with my new wide leg white jeans from Chicos! I purchased that exact pair of Emove sneakers you are holding in the picture . I wear them for walking the dog but then wear the rest of the day as they are so comfortable. I just ordered another style with your code, a walking slip on. Now I hope the weather turns as the weatherman said. It is 39 degrees, wet and dreary out. We need the rain and it is already turning the trees green. So I am grateful!

  13. We’re cold and rainy here today, so perfect timing for a dose of spring / summer gingham. I have a lightweight gingham jacket that I’m on the fence about. Maybe now’s the time to take it to the tailor and see what can be done about it. (IF I donate it, then someone else can be fashionable, right?) I have two BR gingham shirts, one pink, one black that I hope to get a lot of wear out of this season. I had preppy blue-white gingham shorts from Talbots, that I wore out after a decade of wear – at the end only around the house. So, yes, I really like gingham. Happy Sat!

  14. I like gingham for spring & summer. I only wear it in blouses & own two right now. I wouldn’t wear the gingham pants myself, but they would certainly look great on someone else. As you said, with a classic white shirt & flats, they would be so Audrey Hepburn. I do think the gingham suits are a bit too sweet looking for me, but I might do a blazer. Of course, living in Indianapolis as I do, black & white checks are everywhere & on everything during the month of May prior to the Indianapolis 500, & yes, one of my blouses is black & white.

  15. I am crazy for gingham and have always loved it. It’s so Audrey Hepburn, Jackie O, Brigitte Bardot, etc. So classy to have a gingham collar peeking out of a white or cream sweater or jacket. Pam, I’m so happy to hear your feet are happy!!!!
